05 Rose Bowl, UM had a 747 fly the alumni tour and other assorted bigwigs to LA first then the plane flew back to DTW EMPTY to pick up the band and cheerleaders. Those were the good days!

I watched the game there in 2015. Was a good time, until it wasn't...

MHSAA is a joke

MHSAA has no interest in doing what is best for athletes in this state. This is the same organization that last spring threatened track athletes across the state by telling them that they risked being declared ineligible for the following season if they registered for the high school national meet using times or marks that were set during any MHSAA competition. Not only are they telling kids they can't participate in an event that occurred after the school year is over, but they act like they own the times and marks achieved by the athletes.

Start with a competent fan base

Losing sucked, but our fanbase in the stadium could use some work. Just because the drunked up crowd was "raucous" doesn't mean it helps the team win.

SHUT UP when we are on offense. Multiple times the offensive huddle had to motion the crowd to quiet with little success. Go nuts on defense, cheer during the play, but knock it off when we are in the huddle or at the line.

STOP booing the team. Do we all wish the team had played better? Of course. Does booing someone magically make them better? No. The booing and negativity actively crush the atmosphere. It's not like O'Korn purposefully had the ball slip out of his hand when asked to throw in a monsoon. Booing creates more tension for a player and hinders performance.

TRADITIONS and cohesiveness in the stadium are weak at best. Coordinated fan bases with on-going traditions create environments that are positive for the home team and negative for the opponent (ie why Yost was consistently ranked the toughest place to play in hockey). Our fanbase struggles with even simple things. About the only time everyone seems on the same page is when the Slippery Rock score gets announced. Starting the wave on offense is foolish. When the kicker boots it over the netting don't let the usher confiscate it, throw that ball up and out of the stadium. Play temptation after all defensive stops, not Iron Man or other wacky tunes. Singing/playing living on a prayer when losing is also not cool.

Also, for the love of God, don't sell your tickets to an opposing fan just so you can make a few extra bucks. Pay it forward to a fellow UM fan and cut them and everyone else a break.

Endzone went up 50%

Yes, I know only 25 dollars in total, but 50% nonetheless.

I find it interesting looking

I find it interesting looking at the overall budget for each school. When looking at Oregon, LSU, and Bama, our budget is 10-20 million more per year. But we are funding 10 additional sports! On the other hand, Stanford is funding an addional 8 sports at about 20 million less than UM.

Superdome question

The only tickets still available through UM are terrace level. I know they're way up, but are they no good, or still actually pretty decent? Thanks!

Remember when I got hit in

Remember when I got hit in the face with one of those beers? That sucked. Or how that guy jumped us in the stands for singing the Victors and I got a stern talking to from the police but they let me back in since he was way drunker than me? Good times!

I only care about Michigan

I think the only really interesting thing to come out of this is the potential effect of 2006 on UM and how it may have changed things. If Troy Smith was ineligible for 2006, UM probably wins that game and finishes an undefeated regular season and goes on to play Florida for the national championship.  Would UM have fared better in that game than OSU, who knows. Had things played out that way, would Lloyd have retired after that season win or lose? Would we have seen an uptick in recruiting that would have left more talent on the team when Lloyd did eventually leave after 07? Would Lloyd have had more power to name his successor, or would there have been less of a desire to revamp the program, thus RR never happens? Yes, Tressel was already having success against UM and had won a national championship, but looking at the standings from 01-05, the programs were pretty much equally successful which remained true in 2006. Following the 06 game though, there was a drastic divergence between the programs. I think we all know that the 06 game was the hinge point of the last decade and I think that's the only true hypothetical worth considering.

UM going to show up on this list at all?

I already graduated like 5

I already graduated like 5 years ago, but yes, I explored the transfer thing. I got accept for transfer, but Ann Arbor was basically not going to accept most of my credits for anything degree related. I was pretty pissed and finished in 4 years at Dearborn rather than going to Ann Arbor. Still a little bitter about how it all played out, but it may have been for the best.

I had a 3.9 with a bunch

I had a 3.9 with a bunch of AP courses. Went down to like a 3.5 when UM butchered it by removing the honor points.  A 32 (33 math and 35 science) ACT and I still didn't get into the Engineering school back in 01. Thought for sure it would have been enough, so I didn't really have a back up plan. Ended up at UM-Dearborn. FML.

I always heard that Toledo

I always heard that Toledo was the armpit of America. That can't be right though, cuz Columbus is definitely the asshole of America and Toledo is way to close to be an armpit.

I was driving through the parking lot by Schembechler Hall after band practice one day and Gabe Watson flagged me down for a ride. When he opened the door, he was surprised to find out I wasn't Tim Bracken who I guess had a similar car. I offered to give him a ride anyway and he was super nice. I told him that he should come out and watch on of our practices sometime and a couple days later he showed up with a few other players and watched for about 30 minutes. He also told me my voice sounded like Lloyd Carr which I thought was funny.

2 pretty competitive

2 pretty competitive divisions and 2 divisions dominated by 1 team (at least from a footabll standpoint). I don't like this configuration at all.

I've had similar experiences

I've had similar experiences there with the food and service, but I still really like the atmosphere and location. I'm willing to cut them some slack since they are new and have been nothing but friendly. One of the first nights it was open, I struck up a conversation with the owner's cousin (i think it's his cousin) who works security. He said this first few weeks is kind of a trial to get a feel for everything and then over the summer they can iron the kinks out when it'll be much less busy and then be full force awesome come fall. They plan on football Saturdays being a big deal too, opening early and serving breakfast among other things.

I wish I could +1000 this.

It happens with the Tigers

It happens with the Tigers far too often. In this case, Inge led off with a double and then Laird struck out. The guy can't hit, so why is he even trying. Bunt the runner over and then Sizemore's fly ball would have been an easy sac fly and run.

To your point about Pauley

To your point about Pauley Pavilion I felt the same way about Madison Square Garden. The whole place smelled like elephant poo too.

Are you kidding me???

When did you go to Comerica? If you went in the early 2000s to a game against the Royals, maybe there was no atmosphere. There has been plenty of great atmosphere down there since the beginning of 2006. I've never once felt unsafe outside of the stadium either. There are thousands of people around and it's not a bad part of town at all.

As for bad stadiums, the Metrodome was/is a piece of crap. I'm so glad Minnesota football built an on campus stadium. The place was awful for baseball too with the ridiculous infield bounces and half the outfield seats tarped off. YUCK!

Awesome!

The lets just sue everybody mentality is what makes this country the best in the world! Oh wait, that mentality is one thing this country could definitely do with out.

Stats

A few years ago I heard some stats claiming Livonia to be the whitest city in America over 100k and Detroit was the second blackest (behind Gary Indiana). What I find amazing though, is that 2 mile wide Redford is all that seperates them. That's like going from Central Campus to North Campus...

Picking up a game only

And all 3 goals for MSU on

And all 3 goals for MSU on Saturday happened with him in the box. He's a stupid penalty waiting to happen any time he is on the ice. He has also own goaled twice this season. I'd prefer to let Moffie do his job, provided that Summers is back in the line up. Even then, I'd probably rather see Scooter playing D over Llewellyn.
