I understand your point and agree that ultimately a head coach and AD need to take responsibility. Would your opinion change if Dantonio immediately reported the same to Hollis once he found out what was happening? My opinion probably would be different if it was a one-off situation and Dantonio did do the right thing when confronted.
As much as I hate Dantonio as a football coach, I don't necessarily want to view him as Art Brilesque either.

Who knows without more facts. To me, Penn State football was clearly an institutional failure and deserved every bit (and more) of punishment and scrutiny that came its way (it's the original reason why I have a mgoblog account to comment). I haven't read enough about the gymnastics program to comment, but with MSU football, it's not clear whether it was an institutional or not. It doesn't look good, but I hope this isn't anything like PSU/Baylor.

Took a two week break from general recruiting news for 2018. Today, my addiction gets fed again.
|1 week 5 hours ago||This will probably not end||
This will probably not end well for the MSU football program, but I probably want more facts before I condemn the entire program. No program is completely clean with outstanding citizens who can do no wrong. However, it would be pretty sick if a staffer was covering up for the players if the allegations are true.

Same. My wife and I completely forgot.
|1 week 7 hours ago||A 40 is probably sufficient||
A 40 is probably sufficient for intents and purposes. Most long throws won't go beyond 40 yards before the catch. Regardless, this is the first time in a while where I felt Michigan actually had speed (with its younger players) commessurate with the best programs in the nation...at the skill positions.
The team could probably still improve speed elsewhere, but Rome wasn't built in a day.
|1 week 7 hours ago||Not so sure. If Long's 100||
Not so sure. If Long's 100 time is legit, then in terms of straight line speed (without equipment), I would guess Long is faster. A high schooler with a sub-10.6 time is rare, and the posters here would have committed such a track time to memory.
EDIT: A 100m time for McDoom that I could track down was: 10.7. Really fast as well.
Separately, Peppers won state in NJ with a 10.52 time.

Scratch that. Denard ran a sub-10.5 100m (10.44 was the time I saw on ESPN) in high school. Holy shit...I forgot how fast he was.
|1 week 7 hours ago||And that's the best part||
And that's the best part about all of this...more speed, more size, more athletic than teams of recent memory.
|1 week 7 hours ago||If he runs a 4.4/10.6, he is||
If he runs a 4.4/10.6, he is about Denard fast. I believe Denard had roughly the same 40/100 times. The speed, size and athleticism are there to be an elite CB.

Definitely for us. However, maybe it's just another way to keep a mental edge. He probably believes this gives him an advantage (whatever that may be).

He is a good DL coach and good judge of DL talent. He just sucks at everything else. Wanted him to succeed but it's in the past. So good luck Coach Hoke!
|3 weeks 1 day ago||To be clear, I can care less||
To be clear, I can care less what Ace or Brian tweet out individually. However, I would hope that "mgoblog" would refrain from political tweets and thread posts.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||I have a different take.||
I have a different take. People are free to express their individual opinions. However, mgoblog specifically tries to dampen political discourse on its threads.
The fact that it is cherry picking what political opinions get published does not sit well with me, and I actually agree with Ace and company regarding the executive order.
There are literally thousands of sources for political hot takes. If I wanted to engage in political discourse, I just need to log on and comment on an any article in the NYT or WSJ.
If mgoblog wants to go this route, then it should permit all political discourse on its threads (unless blatantly racist or inflammatory). However, that detracts from the focus of this site which is Michigan athletics.
There are obviously much more important matters than the state of Michigan football. Nevertheless, there is no reason why mgoblog needs to venture into those matters and worse be an arbiter as to what political discourse gets discussed on these threads.

I will probably wet myself if we land Solomon AND Gay. Two positions of need who can likely contribute right away.
Separately, I really want this recruiting cycle to be over so I can be productive at work again.

It's still home. I love Chicago and live in the city with my family despite the fact that (1) my kids may have to attend private school because I find some of the public schools to be suspect, (2) it can get shit cold with polar vortexes, and (3) the city will be charging me seven cents for every plastic bag I need at the grocery store because the city is broke.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||I really do like the||
I really do like the direction of recruiting and not just from a star perspective. The potential WR/DB haul is ridiculous. From an athleticism/size perspective, Coach Harbaugh is a serious an upgrade over the previous regimes.
I haven't felt this good about back-to-back classes since Carr. Plus, I feel more confident that they will coached up than under Carr.
It may not all come together this year, but the future is looking bright. Go Blue!

In home w/ ND tonight. Locking-in plans for official to A2 this weekend makes me feel good that ND is hopefully wasting its time in Iowa City. Maybe one of the ND recruiters wants to reconnect with a former hit and run driver too.

Frankly believe he is more even keeled than substantially most other recruitniks. People however want to believe his predictions will be true so badly that when they don't they get way too worked up.
|3 weeks 6 days ago||Agree with Brian in that I||
Agree with Brian in that I don't believe this is anything close to a real issue. However, I don't feel the need to defend Harbaugh by responding with a blogpost or on Twitter to Greenstein, Finebaum, etc. He's a big boy making large sums of money.
He can take care of himself without the Michigan fanbase constantly getting worked up over a writer (Greenstein) or personality (Finebaum) trolling Michigan to generate more interest. We are ultimately only encouraging them to continue doing what they are doing.

Personally don't think he has a beef. He's doing it to generate clicks kind of like Finebaum.
