No way Pulk goes on the

No way Pulk goes on the waiver wire. He would be poached in about 2 seconds. Anderson's new contract makes it possible to bury pretty much the entire thing in GR, and honestly, wouldn't be a huge blow if someone did claim him.

No idea what you do when Datsyuk gets back though. Either Larkin goes down, Miller/Ferraro gets DFA'd, or you move someone. Possibly banking on the fact that you rarely will have a full healthy forward group. Franzen is a head hit away from being on LTIR the rest of his career.

Lines they were skating with

Lines they were skating with today:

1: Abdelkader, Zetterberg, Larkin

2: Nyquist, Glendening (Richards is out today), Tatar

3: Franzen, Sheahan, Jurco

4: Miller, Anderson, Ferraro

My guess is Glendening drops to Andersons spot when Richards gets back from Chicago (picking up his ring). Pulk and Anderson are the extras for now.

He is actually starting the

He is actually starting the season on the top line with Zetterberg and Abdelkader. Biggest question is what they do with the roster when Helm gets back. Most likely will DFA Anderson.

Goddamn, that's so

Goddamn, that's so Harbaugh......

Now I'm listening to "everlong"......

With a couple quick fixes,

With a couple quick fixes, this is the most complete Tigers team of this window. You add Cueto, and a solid back-end bullpen piece, this team can play for a title. Top to Bottom, best lineup DD has put together, best defense, best speed.

Really like his film

Anyone have an idea on the competition level?

Obviously Holland has a say

Obviously Holland has a say in this, but I will be curious to see if this opens up the doors for younger players to get a shot with the Wings without being "overripe". Babcock was fond of saying "tie goes to the veteran", but it has always seemed to me that he loathed the idea of playing kids. Can't tell me the there was a tie between Cleary and Nyquist two seasons ago.

Aren't there rumors out there

Aren't there rumors out there of a few potential WR grad transfers?

Well said

Well said, and I agree. "Those who stay" and all that jazz, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some players drop. Not saying it is right, or that it isn't, But Harbaugh is a maniac. He is going to weed out those that don't fit his program and there might be some turnover in the next couple months. Just curious if there is any data on it.

I agree

Davis is probably your leadoff hitter against lefties. They may move Kinsler up and Cespedes to the two hole against righties. I don't think its the dumbest idea ever to hit avila in the two hole. High OBP and when he is not striking out will generally hit the ball to the right side.

Believe it or not, Avila

Believe it or not, Avila isn't as bad as people make him out to be. Plus defender behind the plate, and walks a shit ton. Its nothing fancy, and he strikes out too much, but you can do worse. *ducks*

Lineup will most likely be

Gose/Davis

Kinsler

Cabby

VMart

Cespedes

J.D.

Castellanos

Avila

Iglesias

I'm out

I'm think I'm finished following the talking heads on this until somebody is signed. Too many agendas, and people throwing nonsense around, followed by PANIC and a bunch of dur hurr hurr comments from trolls on twitter. Wake me up in 2015.

I'd switch Glasgow in for

I'd switch Glasgow in for miller, and leave Kalis at RG. Didn't notice Miller much today, which is good, but just can't imagine him being an upgrade over Glasgow after last year.

100% agree

I think it has become increasingly clear since Nill and Yzerman left. This is three straight years of mind boggling stupidity in the trade market, and free agency (signing Tootoo, and Samuelson, trading a first round pick for Quincey, resigning Cleary so Nyquist would get sent down, dealing Jarnkrok for Legwand last year, and then this face plant). Its made even worse by watching Stevie Y turn Tampa into a legit East contender, and Nill turn around the Stars in one year.

Wow, kid has a great head on

Wow, kid has a great head on his shoulders! Welcome aboard, Grant!

1. Cheetahs are fast, and mean.

2. I'll take the GED dude anyday, at least he can party, and likes, you know, cheering at a sporting event.

3. Dave Brandon pisses all over the seat to mark his territory. It now has a gold encrusted plaque that reads "University of Michigan Athletic Director Dave Brandon's seat of champions.- Those who stay will get hemorrhoids."

4. Brady Hoke spends his whole time in the stall muttering about toughness, with little progress made, making me increasingly uncomfortable.

5. I think they can find money for both in the coffers, but I'd drop a few teams in the name of paying the people that actually make the money, if it came to that.

6. Catty Corner.

For the life of me, I will

For the life of me, I will never understand the mindset of a troll. Not even taking into account that you're a Notre Dame fan which, yikes. But to take the time out of your day to go to other teams message boards to gloat over a potential recruit is just a sad I can't comprehend.

Seriously love these things.

Seriously love these things. Have been searching online for them, with no luck (pants are the only thing I can find, and they are only available in xs and s). Wouldnt mind finding the "turn down for what?" T-shirt either.

Hoke is not getting another

Hoke is not getting another season if they finish 6-6.

This ^

He is playing for 2 reasons in my mind. The first, as mentioned is he provides a net front presence on the PP with some decent hands. The second is protection for Zetterberg. In the event that the B's target Hank (they will), there is someone in the lineup capable of giving an appropriate response.

There is no "draw" of a #1

There is no "draw" of a #1 seed. It is the Atlantic divisons side of the bracket. They would play the winner of TB/MTL, the 2 and 3 seeds in the Atlantic.

I think the Wings chances

I think the Wings chances hinge on just how soon Zetterberg can get back. the B's have a significant edge on the blueline, but the Wings have a speed edge. If they find a way to steal one in Boston and Z can return in game 4ish, I could see the Wings stealing this series.

To me, its not even close.

I want Pittsburgh. Boston is solid all the way through their lineup, plays incredibly physical hockey, and has the (probable) Vezina winner in net. Pittsburgh has some really talented forwards, and can kill you if you let them play up a man. They do however have a goaltender who has been shaky in the playoffs previously, and a 3rd and 4th line that will struggle to matchup with the Wings bottom 6. Also, its not a sure thing that Malkin is ready for the start of the playoffs.

Both great endings!

I also think that the ending to Six Feet Under was one of the most perfectly executed endings I have ever seen.

By this logic, Bo was merely

By this logic, Bo was merely a Red Hawk since he only worked for the University. Good grief.

Yup.

They jumped the shark the second they followed Favre with a helicopter.

The fact is, in a couple

The fact is, in a couple years the Tigers could be in a very tough spot, payroll wise. The farm system is not exactly stocked with young talent. Max, JV, Annibal, and Miggy could take up to 100 million dollars in payroll, which makes it increasing difficult to field a competitive 25 man roster. Max is a hell of a pitcher, but I'm not convinced he is worth top 10 pitcher money after one dominant year.

Really?

Not sure where I said his wins were primarily a result of his run support, but it does play into it. He put together a career year in ERA, WHIP, and K's. Combine everything together and you get a 21-3 record. Not sure why its unreasonable to question whether its a aberration before shelling out 23 million a season, on the conservative side. You better be sure before you give a pitcher the kind of term Max is gonna be looking for, because more often than not, they end up being an albatross on the team's payroll. All I said was that I thought it was the smarter move to let someone else take the risk of paying him top dollar at age 30 when the Tigers had the ability to throw out a top 5 rotation without him.

The point was, I'm not sure

The point was, I'm not sure if its a sustainable effort from him. You don't get almost 6 runs per 9 from your offense very often. In my opinion it would have been a better move to trade him while his value is at its peak, collect some A+ prospects, and avoid a situation where you have 60 million in payroll tied to 3 starting pitchers. Thats not even getting into the fact that Miggy is up for a raise very soon.

I would have actually

I would have actually preferred to trade Scherzer. Not that I think Fister is better than Scherzer, but I think last season is Max's ceiling, and might have been a benefit of the run support he got. I love Max, but his next contract is gonna be massive (probably too big), and pitchers are always a huge risk when you sign them to a long term deal. I get that we are playing for a World Series now, but Max could have pulled a huge return in assets, and a rotation of JV, Sanchez, Fister, Porcello, Smyly is still pretty damn good.

I don't know if I'm ready to

I don't know if I'm ready to call Holland overrated, but his performance over the last couple years has opened him up to criticism. The scouting department of the Wings is still second to none (they sit at the lower end of the top 10 in farm systems), But the FA acquisitions he has made over the last couple years have been terrible. He has struck out on his last few attempts to jump into the trade market.
Also his tendancy of holding on to veterans until the wheels fall off almost cost them a playoff spot last year, and may do it this year. The fact that Tatar wasted away in Grand Rapids last year in favor of Samuelson, and Nyquist was absent the first month of this season because he wanted Cleary back are puzzling at best.

I wouldn't point to Vanek as

I wouldn't point to Vanek as a knock on Holland, Garth Snow is a boob who is incredibly over his head. That doesn't change the fact that Holland overpaid for a decent player who isn't gonna change a thing come playoff time if people are still hurt.
Personally, I was ok with making a mid level move if the price was a mid round pick along with Callahan or Ferraro as they are out of options in Grand Rapids next year, and probably don't have a spot in Detroit. The wings have a logjam of forward prospects right now, and some of them have to go, but Jarnkrok could have brought a far better return.

I'm seriously at a loss for

I'm seriously at a loss for words with this trade. Calle Jarnkrok may have been the Red Wings best all around prospect. He is a 22 year old sweedish playmaker who has been compared to Zetterberg on more than one occation. The fact that we just traded him away for a 32 year old center (that isn't THAT good), who is a free agent at the end of the year is an unbelievable overpayment. Compare this trade to LA trading a 2nd and 3rd round pick along with a 26 year old winger with 6 points this year for Gaborik, and MTL sending a comparable package to NYI for Thomas freakin' Vanek as the Wings did for Legwand. Holland got utterly fleeced in a moment of desperation with the injuries piling up.

I knew we were young on

I knew we were young on offense, but it hadn't dawned on me that with the exception of Gardner we, in theory are bringing back our entire offense next year.

Even at 36, I would say he

Even at 36, I would say he falls somewhere in the top 5 forwards in the world, and has been for quite some time. Crosby, Malkin, Datsyuk, Stamkos, and Ovechkin, in some order.

I do.

Him and Hank both will be up there eventually. When Datsyuk hangs em up (please sign one more extension), he may go down as a top 3 Russian player ever to play.

Datsyuk is a point a game

Datsyuk is a point a game player, and the best two way forward in the NHL. Hes top 5 in the NHL in takeaways annually, and makes every player on the ice better by opening up the ice with his hands and vision. You dont have to be a 40 goal scorer to be worth that kind of money. If you want to get on a high priced player about not putting the puck in the net, Franzen is your guy.

Haven't really cared for

Haven't really cared for Kanye's last 3ish albums, but Danny Brown is playing, who is hands down my favorite rapper out right now.

I would rather have

I would rather have Monroe over Smith as well. The problem is that I think most NBA general managers would also. If you truly want to put a legit 3 on the floor, you have to give up something enticing. Smith is a nice player, but I didnt see teams falling all over themselves to sign him last offseason. The other thing you have to look at is, I believe Monroe is a free agent after this season. Probably not a max player, but I dont think he will be far off.

Full disclosure, I have only

Full disclosure, I have only caught a few games so far this year. From what I have seen, they remind me of the Pacers minus Paul George. Incredibly deep at the 4 and 5, and are the type of team that could give the Heat fits just by pounding the glass. Still dont think they have a "finisher", but the peices are there. If I'm Dumars I'm all over the phones looking for that last peice. Monroe probably has to be involved in any significant trade, and I wouldnt hate it. Him and Smith are too similar and they need someone at the 3 who can slash and space the floor a little better.

Yes, the depth is very

Yes, the depth is very unproven, which is why a player such as Funchess is valuable in a hybrid role. Someone with his unique talents is far better utilized moving all over the field. He is a mismatch wherever you line him up, but in two tight end sets I don't believe its a stretch to think that Funchess, Butt, and a combination of Chesson, Darboh, Canteen, and Harris is our best personnel grouping.

I'm also in the "Funchess

I'm also in the "Funchess back to TE" camp, sort of. I think we have enough depth at WR now, even if young that he is more valuable in a Jimmy Graham hybrid role. He may not put up 1200 yards like he would exclusively at WR but Butt and Funchess bearing down on LB's and Safeties is a tremendous asset. This is all assuming that he can learn to even sort of block, which I believe he can.

Went to Toledo on

Went to Toledo on scholarship, but thanks. No worse section of the fanbase than the group who thinks they are the only ones "worthy" of rooting for Michigan because they sat around Ann Arbor smelling their own farts for four years. I'll be sure to let my alum parents know that I'm no longer allowed to cheer for the team. Enjoy the loneliness.....

How wonderful for you.

How wonderful for you. Hopefully they have the social aptitude to know that speaking in generalizations about large groups of people is generally a prick move.

Was the "friends who didn't

Was the "friends who didn't go here - but are fans of the program" bit necessary? How about advising everyone to stay away from tweeting recruits without the pompous attitude.

I believe the "one mistake by

I believe the "one mistake by Michigan" part is a reference to RR, not Hoke.
