To echo this sentiment: It's not even about getting a degree in a low-paying field. I got my degree in computer science, could have made bank but decided I didn't want to code for a living. I staying in school and got my masters in Education and am teaching high school. My loans are twice my current salary. I'm paying them off comfortably, though I don't have a ton of wiggle room to continue that (i.e. I better not get anyone preggers). It's all about your effort and desire to succeed. If you want to get a degree in a low-paying field, you have to have a game plan and you have to show people that you're one of the hardest workers they'll meet. If you do that and your school carries the necessary weight, you'll be successful. |

Actually, most of it is from the federal government. I'm happy to pay my 70k back. Without the US Gov't investing in me, I wouldn't have been the first in my family to go to and graduate college. |

Without Zack Novak, would the NBA guys have been able to leave early for the NBA? Food for thought. |

| 1 week 5 days ago | But not always the best |
But not always the best player in the nation at such an important position. I think we'll be OK, but I certainly have concerns. Was really making the point that a writer isn't going to write about the interior Oline because that's not very sexy, yet Molk was so important for our team. Remember what happened when he sat a couple snaps in the Sugar Bowl? |

Thing I worry about: How many of these pre-season articles will overlook the fact that we are losing David Molk? His loss cannot be understated. |
| 2 weeks 7 hours ago | 16-team points, competitive |
16-team points, competitive league. I had the "honor" of drafting 16th and had to settle for Dustin Pedroia and Roy Halladay for my top two picks. Not terrible. Draft surprises: Jason Vargas - far away my best draft pick relative to position. Chipper Jones - took a chance with the injuries, thought it would work, rewarded. Todd Helton - same. Draft busts: Ryan Roberts - thus far. I think he'll turn it around. Best FA pickups: Robert Andino - turned him into Torii Hunter via trade, Jordan Shafer, Kenley Jansen - only drafted one closer. This is why. Nolan Riemold - if he gets healthy. Bad drops: Lance Lynn - grabbed him for a spot start in week one. Waivered on holding onto him for a second start. Didn't. Fail. Overall, I'm 3-1 with the second most points overall. I had one terrible week and otherwise have been at the top, so I'm pretty pleased. I've also gone with the strategy of sacrificing a lower-tier starter for a reliever that has starter eligibility (Alexei Ogando). I can make up the starts by streaming pitchers with good matchups and Ogando gets me a bonus 6 points a week with two solid outings. |

On the other hand, why not reward the fan who does go to that volleyball game? Both students love the football team just as much (well, maybe the guy who went to the vball game did so for football, and in that case, reward him for putting in the effort) and one is supporting other student athletes. |
| 2 weeks 1 day ago | Are you kidding? Student |
Are you kidding? Student tickets are so easy to sell. There are always people looking for a ticket for their friend that is visiting Ann Arbor for the weekend. Sure you have to start selling that EMU ticket early if you want any money for it, but there are always people looking to buy. Facebook makes it so easy, but really all you have to do is ask around your group of friends who has an out-of-towner coming in and if they need a ticket. Let them borrow your MCard or someone elses and you're good to go. |
| 2 weeks 4 days ago | I mean, I don't know why |
I mean, I don't know why anyone would move him from where he's at. He's batting sixth in the lineup behind Fielder then Young. That gives you a R-L-R-L heart of the order. Avila is batting only .264 so far, so I don't see a huge reason to move him up. Also, judging by Leyland pinch running for Avila with Gerald Laird, I think we can safely say Avila is not a speedster, so we wouldn't him in the 2 spot. I know last year he was on a tear and Leyland kept him lower, which I was ok with - why change what was working. |
