Random Michigan FunFact: OU's

Random Michigan FunFact: OU's coach has strong connections to Michigan - his brother played football for Michigan under Bo and his father played on the 1947 National Championship team.

Just what slippery slope are

Just what slippery slope are you referring to?  This is Brian's site; he can moderate any way he wants.  This is a site dedicated to Michigan athletics and it is no longer the off season, therefore, it is both understandable and appreciated that Brian attempts to limit board posts to discussion of Michigan and Michigan athletics.  I am a loyal reader of this site because Brian does his best to keep its content on-topic and high-quality, and I am sure that most others feel this way, too.  There are many other websites on which you can read comments that have nothing to do with Michigan athletics if you are so unhappy with the content of this site.

In response to your copyright comment, quoting three sentences and including a link to the source sounds a lot like fair use, in my e-pinion.

In conclusion, Brian knows his audience, it's composed if Michigan fans, therefore he limits the content to things related to Michigan.  The "M" in MGoBlog refers to Michigan, remember?

Oh the Consumerist knows all

Oh the Consumerist knows all about Spirit's abhorrent customer service and business practices: http://consumerist.com/2007/08/spirit-air-ceo-learns-the-dangers-of-hit…

After the worst flying experience of my life in 2008 I vowed never to fly Spirit again and am proud to say that I have never given them one more cent of my money. They have the rudest employees EVER and they charge for everything on the plane, even water and pop. Please listen to Brian and don't give them your business, they don't deserve it.

On a side note, I flew Virgin America this past week and it was amazing; I highly recommend it. Sadly, they only fly into a handful of airports and DTW isn't one of them.

I've informed my boyfriend

I've informed my boyfriend that when we get dogs their names will be Manningham and Martavious. He's cool with it.

Sounds pretty cool! Wish I could go.

Dale Winter!

I had him for a Calc class and he was a fantastic teacher and absolutely hilarious. I even went to his office hours the next semester for help with a different class.

Actually, there isn't a

Actually, there isn't a Journalism major at Michigan...which may explain a lot about those two.

I really thought about

I really thought about missing, but decided it would be better to show up and go through the motions while watching it on my laptop.

Meh, I'll just keep it on

Meh, I'll just keep it on mute - what he doesn't know won't hurt him.

Yeah, I'm in class, but I

Yeah, I'm in class, but I don't think that should stop me from watching the game.

You know what's even more

You know what's even more awesome than Jean-Luc Picard? Jean-Luc Picard + Michigan:

Michigan wasn't my first

Michigan wasn't my first choice. My first choice was out-of-state and twice as expensive, if not more. So, I chose Michigan. It was the best choice I have ever made and now I bleed maize and blue. In answer to your question, athletics had nothing to do with my decision, but they were an incredible perk.

I'm pretty sure John U. Bacon

I'm pretty sure John U. Bacon teaches a History of the University of Michigan course, but it's not offered every semester. I was always a little disappointed that I was never able to take it...and even more so after this thread.

I lived in Corner House for a

I lived in Corner House for a couple years during undergrad and really liked it. However, the walls are super thin and everyone that lives there is an undergrad, so if you want to live somewhere quiet, Corner House is not the place for you. Also, I think they only have 2+ bedrooms and it doesn't sound like you want a roommate. I don't have any complaints about CMB, though.

M Alumni

InCircle is a free M alumni job board: http://alumni.umich.edu/networking-tools/social-networking/inCircle

It not only has job postings, but also lists alumni who currently work at the company, so you have a chance to network and ask questions before applying.

Good luck and go blue!

I was just about to post the same thing! La Giostra is amazing, you must go.

Verona is beautiful, you should definitely take a day trip there. I highly recommend the Rick Steves' Italy guidebook. Rick knows everything, he will guide you well.

Yeah, the ending was

Yeah, the ending was completely unexpected and such a good twist. I'm excited to see what they have planned for next season. I re-watched that last scene with Trinity, and a lot of the stuff he says takes on a brand new meaning.

Just need to say...

I have DirecTV and I get it - ch. 613.

It's ridiculous that they

It's ridiculous that they think it's a good idea to charge people who already subscribe to their cable network an extra $2.99/game in order to watch a game online. I emailed BTN this morning and told them that I wasn't going to pay them twice in order to watch a Big Ten basketball game. You should too.

MUTO

You can get football tickets validated at MUTO in the basement of the Union, so they probably do basketball tickets, as well.

Seriously

Our lack of rebounds game after game makes me want to pull my hair out. It's ridiculous.

Wow.

That blows my mind. They have EVERYTHING.

Media Library

You should check the Askwith Media Library on the 2nd floor of the UGLi, they have like 6000 DVDs, and I'm sure that documentary is one of them. You can use Mirlyn to see if it's checked out or not before you stop in. Make sure to return it on time, though, it's a $5/day late fee.

Mac > PC

After suffering with two Dell laptops, I now have a MacBook and I'll never go back to a PC. I had always hated Macs until I started using them in the Fishbowl my junior year and realized how much better I liked the Mac OS than Windows. It took a little while to learn how to use a Mac, but it was totally worth it.

I'm not alone...

I'm with my good friends, Bacardi and Cola.

You just have to layer! I

You just have to layer! I made it through the OSU 2007 game with about 5 layers on, and not one of them was a jacket. Buy a maize sweatshirt and some under armour and you'll be fine. Also, be sure to wear a (maize) hat and some gloves.

If you had a contract with the hotel that said only you and your wife were allowed in the room, then you have a cause of action for breach of contract.

I think this is the Time

I think this is the Time article you're referring to: http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1925796,00.html

I read it a couple of weeks ago and it's a really interesting and enlightening article on Detroit's demise.

And the standard of proof for

And the standard of proof for actual malice is clear and convincing evidence, which is higher that the usual preponderance of the evidence for civil cases. Like someone mentioned above, he may also have to prove actual damages, depending on the jurisdiction.

If you're a Michigan alum,

If you're a Michigan alum, you can join inCircle, an online networking community for Michigan students and alumni, for free. It has job postings, you can look up alumni working in a certain field or even a particular company, etc.

I hope this is helpful. Good luck and Go Blue!

I live in LA and actually get

I live in LA and actually get a good number of "Go Blue"'s from random passerby when I'm wearing Michigan apparel. I have yet to be trash talked or anything by SC fans. Actually, one congratulated me on our win against ND when I was grocery shopping after the game. I'm not arguing that SC fans aren't obnoxious, just that I've never had a negative run-in with any of their fans/alumni.

Oh...maybe the student section was doing that (awesome/hilarious) cheer during the first 15 seconds of the game?

For those who are interested,

For those who are interested, this is an excerpt from the latest email about gamewatches at South from the LA Alumni Club:

In case you haven't heard, South made some adjustments after our overwhelmingly stake-claiming turnout in week one. They've added more tables, more staff, more TVs and most importantly it is officially a 100% Wolverine bar without any space reserved for other clubs. Nobody has had to wait to get in, and those who show up know that it has to be one of the best venues outside of the Big House for watching Michigan football. Here's a video link to give you a taste of what it was like when Michigan beat Notre Dame. The owners said it was louder than when the Lakers won the title! True story.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnTTqfTb6Jk

Anyway, enough hype. Doors open at 8:30AM for this week's game against Indiana, and they will be serving breakfast and Bloody Marys.

What's the major demographic

What's the major demographic of the South game watches? I'm a recent alum and I've heard that the "official" alumni bar tends to skew toward older alumni. I've been to Pitcher House for a couple of games and it was a lot of fun, with overwhelmingly younger alumni, like myself.

I just checked the ESPN

I just checked the ESPN website (as a fellow fan living on the west coast) and it's on ESPN2 nationally, so you can stop worrying.

A few years ago when I was

A few years ago when I was living on East U, we were given a garbage notice during a game...the only trash in our yard were the two garbage bags that we had used to put all of the cups and trash in before we left for the game. Apparently the garbage bags siting in our yard instead of in a trash can warranted a garbage notice. Lame.

Oh how I miss Cottage Inn

Oh how I miss Cottage Inn pizza, waffle fries at the Jug, and sangria at Dominick's...

You may not believe the Daily

You may not believe the Daily (and I don't blame you), but this is a link to the website of one of the astronauts on that flight. If you scroll to the very bottom of the page it confirms the fact that there is no UM flag on the moon, only the Alumni Association charter plaque. While it would be awesome to have a flag on the moon, we do not.

Sorry to disappoint you, but

Sorry to disappoint you, but that's actually just an urban legend. We don't have a flag on the moon, but we do have an Alumni Association plaque there.
