Stanzi is a senior and they are really good at the skill positions. That does not bode well for our secondary. Their offensive line lost 3 starters from last year and they are thin at running back. Robinson (who I coached in Jr High) is nowhere near as talented as MSU's backs and behind him is a true frosh Coker who had a bum shoulder most of fall practice. So I'd say we have a good shot at containing the run today. GO BLUE!!!!
Just gotta laugh out of reading this thread. I'm born and raised in Iowa but a lifelong Wolverine. My mom is from St.Joseph Michigan and I spent a lot of childhood summers there so that's where my fandom comes from. I just have a few comments. 1. last year in Iowa City at 9am for the 7pm kickoff some drunk was telling me he had f*^%ed my dad and mom. I thought "u stay classy guy", but I was with a bunch of my Iowa grad buddies so I just let it ride not wanting to get ugly at 9am. Got hammered drunk in the snow and had fun even though we lost. 2. Are you people really mocking Iowa? 3. Really? Sure meth is a problem here, crack is big in Detroit. Yes we do have a lot of corn, but for pete's sake our colors are MAIZE AND BLUE. maize=corn. 4. Unemployment rate in Iowa 6.8% Michigan 13.1%. I know this isn't the greatest/coolest state, but it ain't all bad. Bottom line there are bad fans everywhere, and Wendyk5 I'm sorry that you and you're son had to deal with some of them.
I just remember the 2nd half and it seemed like every snap USC was in 4 or 5 wide. I don't believe that ND did that very much against us, hence us not being able to zone blitz or use the same scheme
I was at this game with my wife (we were also there for the game 2 years earlier vs Texas) and it was terrrible. The USC fans sitting next to us were calling our offensive plays as soon as we lined up. They knew, like the USC defense that our O was very predictable. We definitely needed to open it up like we did vs Florida the next year. The ONLY cool thing about this trip to Pasedena for me was sharing the hand washing facilities with a gentleman who had a mangled pinky that when i looked up was attached to Ronnie Lott's arm. Oh yeah also cool was the parade with grand marshall george lucas. other than that the trip sucked
when i checked my directv on screen guide last nite on espn it had "college football teams TBA" same thing for abc, and espn2 had nascar nationwide. but i just checked tvguide.com and it says "college football teams TBA" for abc, espn and espn2, so maybe i'll be ok. i sure hope so
So i just went to espn.com college football schedule and it says that the 3:30 eastern time slot has either clemson at miami or oklahoma at kansas. no TV is listed for the UM game. since i live in kansas city they will show ou/ku game on ABC, and espn2 has racing on in that time slot, am i going to get screwed out of seeing michigan? somebody please help. i'm starting to freak out
Granted I will be with a group of Iowa fans I'll be tailgating in the finkbine lot. Starting at 8 am and will probably visit others as well. The Union is always a fun bar, as is the Fieldhouse. Good luck, maybe I'll see ya there. GO BLUE!!!
that was my 21st birthday and i left before halftime to get my new driver's license showing i was old enough to booze. when i got back my roomates were laughing hysterically that i missed touchdown timmy's punt return TD to put the hawks up 21-7 at half. still a great birthday as it was homecoming at the university of northern iowa where i was at and i got to witness matt sherman choke it away at the end to big sam sword.
Best case scenario is an MSU beat down. I would echo all your statements exactly. Going in to EL would be much better vs a 1-3 or 2-2 team vs one building momentum. Also ND going 11-1 or 10-2 would make that victory that much better. I'm actually not watching that game very much as I will be tuned into the Iowa-Zona game. We need the hawks to be strong when we go to Iowa City for their homecoming. But that's looking a little far ahead. I'm hoping to pound EMU today and see a lot of Denard.
I don't really agree with everything Lane Kiffin has done since being hired at UT, but at the same time I kind of like it. He has pulled some good recruits and I think could MAYBE turn them around. As much as I like Tebow (although he's over-exposed) I despise Urban Meyer. ESPECIALLY after the Stonum recruitment saga. I think Florida will blow them out, but after Tebow's gone and the defense is in the pro's I think Kiffin could beat them in the future.
We must all be getting geared up for saturday's game. I watched this one last nite as well. Sam was a beast all that year. From the ND game to securing our victory over the hawks with the last minute intercetpion of Matt Sherman. Talk about turnovers, Didn't Griese throw like 4 int's vs Iowa? Not to be outdone I believe Sherman had 5, and Sam's was the game ender.
Got a hat, sweatshirt, polo, and "all in" towel and had no problems. They even threw in a free teddy bear for dropping over $150. Was it a persistent problem, or did you just try the once?
saw another poster mention it, but what happened here? i thought UM was a virtual lock for this guy. a little disappointed but i guess we move on and find another. what is harbaugh telling these kids to get them to stanford. i know the academics are top notch but the football program is average to below average at best. as for Aramide Olaniyan i'd love to see him lining up on D for the wolverines in the future
just went and read their practice notes. but what really caught my eye was the writer's comments. "if nevada and WMU squared off in a consolation game of sorts nevada would win hands down" good and cocky those irish are. the writer also stated that although many are predicting a close game around 1 point he stands by his assertion that ND wins by 2 td's. I LOVE IT!!! i have a funny feeling they're in for a rude awakening.
got mine for about $175 a piece for 2 on stub hub. section 131 which is 5 yard line area. row 16. but as a previous poster said, it's better to be with a group or with some hawkeye fans. i'll be tailgating from about 7 am til gametime with hawk fans. they're alright if you know some of them but others are unruly.
woke up at 430 couldn't sleep. went to denny's, then swap meet, now watching interesting hawks game. uni had a chance, now it's dragging. 230 (cdt) can't get here soon enough!!!
i had similar feelings. i hope our spread looks better than oregon's and i hope our d plays like boise st's did. can't believe how low scoring the two games on espn were. BORING!!!
and what was with the "dr. lou" segment in the first game? tiger woods asking him about the peaks and valleys? the lisper damn near crapped himself he was so giddy to name drop eldrick as a golfing buddy
That was a total classless act. he said "we owe them an ass whoopin!!" so i guess he meant it. blount should serve a min. 2 game suspension. although i like bob davie's (great irish coach) suggestion..."suspend him indefinitely" good call. what a sucker punch
what's with his ankle? can this guy ever catch a break? i know we have plenty of other options but i was thinking he was due for a break out year at the super-back position.
I do my best to boycott the self-proclaimed world wide leader. I watch live sports plus college gameday and the occassional PTI or around the horn. other than that it pretty much serves no purpose to me. They used to report news, now they're more interested in making news which is not the point of true journalism in my opinion.
