I don't remember the source …

I don't remember the source (could have been this blog, actually), but apparently Blake Corum raked six figures in a year from NIL, so I don't think it's unreasonable to believe that Dickinson could make close to or equivalent money from NIL compared to the G League.

Diabate absolutely has the…

Diabate absolutely has the makings of a pro game.  He's long and athletic, can guard basically any position, and has an inside game with some decent range shooting sprinkled in. He's still pretty raw, sure, but that hasn't stopped the NBA before when they see potential.  An NBA team will likely want to control his development in its system instead of relying on college coaches, even if said coaches are great.

I definitely do not like…

I definitely do not like getting MSU after a bye.  That gives them extra time to scheme up misdirection plays for the M game, which MSU has historically had success against Michigan with.  Additionally, we saw in the Nebraska game that well-designed screens and misdirection plays can have success against M.  Pretty worrisome considering MSU has already had success this year with flea flickers.

I still think ND are frauds…

I still think ND are frauds. Lots of turnover luck helped them pull away from Purdue and Wisco.

The only success Rutgers had…

The only success Rutgers had throwing the ball was 5-yard hitches because Michigan was playing its corners 10 yards off the ball.

A+ Washington Generals…

Never though to put steak,…

Never though to put steak, let alone filet in the air fryer.  How does the outside turn out?  I'm a little afraid it might be too crispy.

That sauce sounds decadent.

Could be a positive for…

Could be a positive for Michigan as well if they decide to play with no spectators.  No home ice advantage for OSU.

Suspended for violation of…

Suspended for violation of team rules

Rutgers did shoot horribly…

Rutgers did shoot horribly but a decent amount of that was from Michigan playing great D and forcing them to take bad shots, a lot of times late in the clock.

The only reason a lot of us…

The only reason a lot of us like the Joe was because 1) the history - the Wings won so much there over the years, and 2) we grew up going to games there so it was nostalgic and comfortable.  You have to have good teams to build history at your arena and unfortunately it hasn't happened yet.  I think once the Wings get back to the playoffs The Slice will be rocking.

I 100% agree with the keys…

I 100% agree with the keys to winning the game. Can't give up easy buckets underneath and can't give up easy transition buckets.  Make Winston beat you by taking tough shots and working hard for every point.  Granted he's going to make a bunch of those tough shots and it will be maddening, but if he's the only one putting in a significant contribution, M has a good shot.

Except Al Avila has no clue…

Except Al Avila has no clue what he's doing so the Tigers have very few prospects that actually have a chance of making a difference.

I had the same thought and…

I had the same thought and just cruising through the MSU seasons on wikipedia I think it's supposed to be 18-4-1.

Source?  This information is…

Source?  This information is interesting and the skeptic in me doesn't believe that MSU went 18-41 against Olivet.

If you look at the current…

If you look at the current projections, Michigan is still "in".  These wins would certainly help the seeding though.

Like everyone has said, I…

Like everyone has said, I wouldn't be devastated if we lose if M plays well and gets beat by the better team or flat out gets the doors blown off.  What would be devastating would be if some wonky things happen in a close game (unlucky tipped INT, questionable call, etc.) that go the opposite way that "cost us" a close game.

Who am I kidding, I'm going to be devastated if we lose no matter what.  Eternal optimist.

This team certainly feels…

This team certainly feels different.  They have "nothing" to play for (no playoffs, no conference championship), yet they are playing their best football now after those goals are off the table.  This team seems to have a "Fuck it, we're playing for us" attitude which I love.

We need a true home field…

We need a true home field advantage Saturday.  The Big House has been pretty loud the past 2 years and I'd love to see it at its loudest on Saturday.  I encourage all M fans to stay on their feet all game (assuming you're physically able) and yell your heart out.  Our team needs every bit of support we can offer.

I'd volunteer to take State…

I'd volunteer to take State's (potential) spot in the Quicklane bowl if it meant beating OSU.

This game will be…

This game will be interesting.  Beilein's offenses were built to slow down tempo teams, but Howard wants to push the pace more.  Not like HBU, but more than Beilein for sure.  It'll be interesting to see if Howard slows down the tempo to limit the amount of possessions in the game and try to keep Teske out there for as much of it as possible.

Amazing and clever, as…

Amazing and clever, as always.  I would argue that this years iteration of The Game should most definitely be above a 10 Fear Level, however.

Just like MSU this year.

Just like MSU this year.

The talent gap definitely…

The talent gap definitely exists, but I do not think it is as egregious as you are making it seem.  Yes they are almost always well coached, but the gap isn't big enough where OSU should win every game going forward, especially in a rivalry game, where weird things happen and upsets happen semi-regularly.  As we know, Michigan has been extremely close in a few iterations of The Game under Harbaugh, but the bounces & calls didn't go our way.

I hope this second-half surge from Michigan means great things for the future.  I think with the current state of both programs, the win split should be somewhere in the 65/35% range in favor of OSU, maybe slightly worse (for M).

Because you're not…

Because you're not superstitious...

Right.  They may have…

Right.  They may have similar numbers now but Penix has way more upside.  He's a better player overall and will prove it in the coming years

I was surprised M didn't…

I was surprised M didn't feed the post earlier and more often against Creighton.  When they did it in the second half it seemed to work very well with Teske scoring in a couple different ways.  I would like to see M get the ball to Teske in the post early and often, as it doesn't seem like Elon will be able to defend it at all.

Everything's made up and the…

Everything's made up and the points don't matter.

A QB like that significantly…

A QB like that significantly reduces what you can do on offense.  No RPOs (at least where the QB is a running threat), no zone read, option, etc.  Unless you have an Andrew Luck type passer and a great pass protecting Oline, it would be much more difficult to win.

This should be a game where…

This should be a game where the big men dominate.  I think M will attack inside early and get Kelvin Jones in foul trouble, and then M can really take advantage of the size differential.  I doubt we'll see much (if any) of the Teske/Castleton lineup simply because it'll be a huge defensive liability against the speed and shooting of Creighton.

Couldn't disagree more.  How…

Couldn't disagree more.  How do you beat a 2-3 zone?  Shoot over it.  If Creighton is really that good at shooting they would love to see M come out in a zone.

I think they need to play aggressive on-ball defense and try to force Creighton to drive toward the basket, where M will have a material size advantage.  This is especially true since M is no longer hard-hedging screens and the big men will stay back.

You're annoyingly correct…

You're annoyingly correct about Florida.  These days it's hard to get excited for a mid tier bowl game against Florida.

I noticed that he made a few…

I noticed that he made a few extremely fast passes to players that weren't ready.  As the year progresses the players around him will learn to always be ready for a pass and Simpson won't be trying to force passes with speed as everyone gets more comfortable.

Welcome back officially, Ace…

Welcome back officially, Ace!  These preview posts have me so fired up for the game tonight and the season.

There's a lot of "wild cards…

There's a lot of "wild cards" and "x factors" on this team.  A lot of unproven talent but with significant upside.  The team's floor is raised materially by the return of Simpson/Livers/Teske, and the ceiling is extremely high considering the potential of these young players.  My guess is they'll exceed the national media's initial expectations and be a Sweet Sixteen this season team with a lot of buzz going into 2020-2021.

That 8-man rotation feels…

That 8-man rotation feels about right but I imagine they'll give DDJ a little more run at the 2 and Brooks a little less.  Let's hope Nunez pans out too and we can all argue about who should get more time between him and Johns.

With Detroit sports in the…

With Detroit sports in the gutter and Michigan Football out of the playoff race, I'm hoping Michigan Basketball continues to be a breath of fresh air in the fall even without Coach Beilein.  Coach Howard seems to have said and done all the right things so far so I am hopeful.

What people doing for…

What people doing for tailgating as a backup plan to the Golf Course & Pioneer (that is, if you don't mind divulging your secrets)?  I am supposed to be hosting a 50 person tailgate on the Golf Course tomorrow, but I'm looking for a more sure option.

You must sit right by me…

You must sit right by me because one of my neighbors like to alternate between "You gotta throw the ball more!" and "You gotta pass the ball more!" on a series by series basis.  Sometimes even play by play.  I've learned to laugh it off, otherwise I just get frustrated.

Don't tell Chicagoans

Don't tell Chicagoans

Plus, their offense isn't…

Plus, their offense isn't designed to score points.  It's designed to eat clock and keep the other team's offense off the field (and make up for their team's recruiting disadvantages).  To that affect, they were extremely successful against Rice.  I imagine Army would be quite content winning every game 14-7.

I had the thought that MSU…

I had the thought that MSU had multiple injuries on the O-Line during the game and there may have been a communication error when replacing those players on the field goal unit.

It seems unlikely that we…

It seems unlikely that we would play a service academy in London, which would take away the whole patriotic angle of playing a service academy and is really the only reason you schedule a service academy.

I want to believe he was…

I want to believe he was being told to give as well, but when you're losing a game, you should probably bring out some of those plays you didn't want to show and win the damn game.

As someone said in Unverified Voracity, I hope Shea's apparent injury was impacting his decision making, because that should work itself out in the next week and a half.

Here's hoping M spends a…

Here's hoping M spends a little bit of time each week preparing for November 30.

If the offense has 6…

If the offense has 6 blockers that do their job and block 6 defenders, the runner is unaccounted for and should gain significant yards and potentially break into the second level. But, as others have said, this needs to be quick hitting before additional defenders can help.

I thought I was the only one…

I thought I was the only one in the stadium who saw this and was screaming that it should be called

Regarding 1 & 2:  I…

Regarding 1 & 2:  I absolutely agree they need to have the 2 TE guaranteed 1 yard in the back pocket.  I think they would have used VanSumeren in those situations more if he hadn't fumbled early in the game.  I don't think they trusted him and were reluctant to give it back to him when Army was going for strips on every play.

3:  Shea is worrisome.  By no means is he playing poorly, but he missed a few big passes, was not making good reads, and fumbled.

4:  My bigger concern is that the smallest defense we play all year was getting A LOT of pressure on our pass plays. For an O-Line that is supposed to be one of the best in the conference, that is concerning.

6:  It baffles me why they didn't throw the ball to Nico Collins so many more times.  Whether it was single coverage, corner playing 10-yards off or otherwise, those are high success rate plays for easy chunks of yardage.

Hopefully they can iron out the kinks in the 2 weeks off.  Also, I couldn't stop thinking off Billingsly from Friday Night Lights (movie) having the ball duct taped to him hands after his fumble.

I'm completely buying in and…

I'm completely buying in and I'm scared.  Someone send help.

I do believe.  While I have…

I do believe.  While I have not personally experienced any "ghost" phenomena, I have experienced signs from people who have passed, specifically my father. Two examples:

After my father passed away I took his cell phone (and therefore got his number as well), as I would be getting rides to various sporting events and after school activities from people (I was 13) and my mom wanted to be able to check in on me and wanted me to have it in case of emergency.  Shortly after, my aunt called my cell phone, hoping to hear my father's voice on the voicemail answer recording.  I had since changed it so she was very disappointed.  She hung up, immediately got a call back from my (my dad's) number, which only rang once before disconnecting.  I did not call my aunt.

Second "sign" if you will - to this day a single streetlight will turn off or on as I walk or drive under it. Just one, not many like they're turning on at 8 PM for the night.  It tends to happen close to family events (my father was huge on family). For example my mother, sister, girlfriend and I were walking out of a restaurant for my mother's birthday dinner and a single streetlight turned off as we walked under it.
