but I have an overwhelming feeling of awe for this team, especially for Gardner, for how hard it fought on the field today. I think of the final scene from Friday Night Lights, where the player comes up a yard short of a game-winning touchdown...heartbreaking but inspiring. Thank you, Team 134. Already looking forward to Team 135. Go Blue!

like you mostly just rehashed and agreed with them aside from the stuff about MSU. Yes, it is big-time football, and right now, we're not big-time but middle-of-the-road at best, that is the reality that I don't think your average Michigan fan accepts. The reality is that Michigan, at this moment, isn't even the third best team among the members of next year's division. Regarding your MSU comments, I think you're not facing the reality there. The Spartans are on the verge of their third 10+ wins season in four years. We haven't done that since 1997-2000. If they win-out their conference schedule, they could have three 11-win seasons in four seasons...something we've never done. They've also won a share of a B1G Title in that time and are likely going to win their second divisional title. That's clout and stability in my book, and beyond. If we had those accomplishments, the garment-rending wouldn't be this bad.

Admittance is the first step towards recovery.
I'm looking at the reality of our division next season. Bill O'Brien is looking like he's going to build PSU back into something, especially now that the sanctions were reduced. Hackenberg is legit and only a freshman. MSU is gaining clout and stability every year under Dantonio Their defense, it's great. They are going after Cass Tech. Need I mention they've beaten us 4 out of 5? They have been real for a while now. And Urban Meyer and OSU aren't going anywhere. Urban is 1.00 nearly at the end of his second seasons The way things are going, Rutgers and even Maryland aren't looking like easy wins. Getting out of our division is going to be dogfight every season.

In fact, after the National Championship game, I'm putting away all things college football and will not bring them out again until Mid-July, when all the preseason guides are relased, probably in a similar fashion to what a normal college football fan does. I've been a year-round fan for about five seasons now. An off-season break is due.

Michigan turnovers, sacks, and other negative yard plays? I think it'd do everybody a lot of good.

match anything Texas offers. They'll double-mortgage the house to pay him. The money issue will be a wash. The only thing bringing him to Texas is the allure of winning a Title with three different teams.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||I believe it's all a ruse to get him an even bigger paycheck||
at Alabama. Rumors of his agent talking with representatives at Texas along with his wife fairly publically looking at vaction houses in Austin...I think it's a well-planned bluff on Saban's part. I'd be surprised if he doesn't get a record-setting raise after he brings home the crystal football in January.

|3 weeks 6 days ago||It sounds like they do for many common undergraduate majors,||
which I imagine is the situation for many transfer candidates. A 101 course at JuCo college is going to count for a 101 class at Michigan, or that's how I read the "Equivalent Credit" statement below. Perhaps they are more strict than the way they make it seem on the website.
Courses you’ve completed at other colleges and universities that closely match courses taught at U-M will usually transfer as “equivalent credit.” These courses will appear on your University of Michigan transcript with a U-M course number assigned.
Courses you’ve taken at other colleges and universities that do not match courses in the same departments on our campus may transfer as “departmental credit.” (Please note that departmental credit, while transferable and usually applicable as elective credit, may only be used toward meeting distribution or concentration requirements with the permission of an academic or concentration advisor.)
Courses that cover a broad range of topics within a general area of study are considered “interdepartmental credit.” These are courses that, because of the scope of their subject material, cannot be assigned to any individual academic department. Like departmental credit, interdepartmental credit is usually applicable as elective credit. (It also must be approved by an academic or major advisor if it is to be used toward distribution* or major requirements.)
|3 weeks 6 days ago||Are there more requirements than these?||
- Is in good academic and social standing at his/her prior institution.
- Has a distinguished record of college work, earning a cumulative GPA of at least a B (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) or better.
- Has earned sophomore or junior standing (preferably) with transferable credit earned at a community college or another two or four -year college or university
If not, coming out of a junior college, they don't seem exactly insurmountable.

it looks like they were getting the type of players that had the potential to pull that off, and down the road, maybe they will. I'm happy with them going for it, watching what Stanford did was a lot of fun, but if it doesn't work, and it becomes abundantly clear where less offensively-knowledgeable people can predict plays, you have to be willing to adjust, that's all I'm asking for. Even if the adjustment isn't as successful as we'd like it to be. I truly believe if we did adjust after the UConn game, we'd only have one loss.
|4 weeks 9 hours ago||You don't have to call it adjustment,||
but they chose a style of offense that would be successful with the personnel, rather than try to run the type of offense Hoke and co. wanted to from day one, which is what we're getting this year. I 2011, they accepted that they would not be successful doing so from day one. I think after Akron and UConn, our coaching staff probably should have come to that conclusion.
I don't consider myself very knowledgeable about playcalling, and didn't come to this conclusion until after this game, where Michigan couldn't rush against a team with a terrible rush defense. Now, it's pretty clear. Considering it's their profession, I'd think it should become clear sooner for Hoke and co. The refusal to adapt is what hurts. I'm still not calling for anyone's job, but I think it will be justified if if we don't see adaptation in the final stretch.
|4 weeks 9 hours ago||We want to be Stanford.||
They were running manball against Oregon, and Oregon seemed to know what was coming and couldn't stop it. We can't do that though, and it's very clear to everybody. They knew this in 2011 and we adjusted appropriately and had success. Why are the coaches refusing to adjust now? When we have the personnel to back up stubborn playcalling, by all means, go for it, but pack this playcalling up for the rest of 2013, it's not going to work.
