What they did is wrong according to the rules.  We can ALL debate ethics until the end of time.  But, when rules are set and established by a governing body they are expected to be followed.  There is no way to draw the line: $1 or $1 million, it's all the same.  You can say what you want about the NCAA, but they have an extremely hard job policing ALL sports, regardless of division.  They can only condemn a program or someone in cases where hard evidence has been provided.  Name one case where someone was in trouble with the NCAA and the allegations weren't too far from the truth. "Where there is smoke there is fire."  Needless to say, I am sure there are instances where the NCAA knows there has been wrongdoing but do not have the evidence to prove it beyond a reasonable doubt.  It's kinda like the court of law!  In addition, don't you think they have some of the best lawyers that are guiding their exposure to financial litigation?  Agree with it or not, the NCAA is totally justified in handing the hammer down.

As for Mr. T, this makes me wonder how much was going on with Mo Clarett.  C'mon, the guy did not have an abundant childhood.  But, yet Mr. T didn't notice that his "star" player was driving a vehicle that was obviously out of his parent's spending budget.  And, didn't his Heisman QB get in some trouble about some payments for jobs he never did.  Hhmm, I wonder if that University knew of his "employer"?!  It didn't just start here folks, this guy has been turning his head for years.
Mr. T Knew All Along...

While I agree with your statement

Uh, I don't think that kid is the back-up anymore.  I am sure Crist will compete for the job, but it isn't necessarily his anymore...

Carr

He beat Tressel how many times?  Out recruited him how often?  Played in more Championships?

The list goes on.  It's funny how the fan base basically forced the man into retirement after he was outclassed by App St and beaten very badly by Oregon at home.  THE MASSES SCREAMED the 3 yards and a cloud of dust thing was DEAD!  They wanted things more wide open.  So, out they come in the Gator bowl against Florida and Urban Meyer's wide-open offense and beat them at their own game.  And, off he rode into the sunset.

The Michigan fans wanted something creative, innovative, and high-powered to keep with the new direction of college football.  In came RR, which at time, was probably the most recognized offensive mind at the time.  For some unknown reason, UM fans had a problem with the way he handled his situation at WVU.  They were upset about the thought of a "buyout"...a buyout (reiterated for purpose).  They were mad about Boren, an OSU transfer, proclaiming some mess about "family values."  He went 3-9 in his first season with Steven Threet (that's been widely successful at his up-teen collegiate stops) & <cough, cough> Nick Sheridan.  2nd year, he goes 5-7 with a back-up QB starting as a True Freshmen.  7-5, with signs of dangerous his offensive system could be.  True, the defense was lousy.  However, they WERE (and, still are) young.  People please stop comparing true freshmen DBs to Charles Woodson (for that matter, don't compare anyone to him), they aren't him.  RR only had 2 true recruiting while at UM.  Wasn't he like 20 scholarship bodies under the limit at one time.  Think about that, that is 20 additional allotment of player's he had to choose at his discretion.

I can remember people calling for his job the 1st year he was at UM.  Face it, he didn't have the support of the fan base, alumni, and local media from day one.  He was always behind the eight-ball.  Sadly, due to this whole "Michigan Man" thing, a bunch of self-proclaimed "Michigan Men" ran the man out of town.  You can break down win-loss records all day, but anyone can recite all sorts of stats to skew reality in one's favor.  So, was it working is definitely debatable (for another thread).  I think the decision had to be made soley based on the fractions in the athletic community.  It was becoming a circus atmosphere and that is the thing that is not the UM way.  Who cares what plays a coach calls to score touchdowns and stop people from scoring.  Tonight you are going to watch two of the most unconventional systems in all of college football playing for the 2011 MNC (14 years after UM's last MNC).  Let's just hope the new coach knows how to motivate players and put them in the right spot to be successful, no matter what kind of scheme it is or what part of the country he has done most of his coaching!!!

My friend...

That was absolutely hilarious!

+1 for you Avatar

LOL!!!

"If so, I might not have a pulse but you have no brain."

This is classic.  Of course you root for the team, but going into you had to have some kind of idea that they would get man handled up front against what is probably the best offensive line in the Nation.

In season...

You can't tackle live during the season in practice.  Of course, you use drills to simulate as much as possible.  However, live tackles create injuries and during season when guys are banged up....um, not such a great idea.

Nonetheless, the defense needs a spark and maybe a new DC is called for.  But, regardless this team is only going to improve.  Did you notice how many times the announcers addressed the amount 4 & 5 year seniors playing for Wisky?  I'm just saying...

Not so harsh

Hey, no one is perfect.  True, he has made his mistakes.  But, at the same time he also has done a lot for the university and the city of Detroit.   It's not like he has been to prison or locked some girl in a bar restroom or directed a "cat" fight ring or beat up his gf or etc, etc, etc.  So, he likes to dance after he catches another 40 yard touchdown for the 1st place Jets.

Simmer down, Skipper!!!

Um....

Read above...

Agreed

Late in the game I was hoping the offense didn't turn the ball over for a touchdown.  I was thinking, "Please just give the defense good enough field position to get a stop."

HA

Weather?

Weather shouldn't matter.  You still have to execute.  Gotta be able to pitch & catch when the weather is adverse.  The good teams do it.  Nonetheless, they still didn't have the same wide open playbook that you normally see.

FCS?!

Is your reasoning that UMASS is an FCS school?

Well, the potential ACC Champs and top 20 ranked Va Tech LOST to an FCS school at HOME.  You can always learn from something when you don't play well.  However, much rather spend that film session watching a W!!!

"There is no such thing as a bad win."

Offense Watered Down?

Watching the game today it seemed as though RR didn't want to show too much on film going into the next 2 weeks.  Once it looked like the defense was going to be able to handle their own against Purdue that he decided to keep it simple.   I think due to some of the lack of creativity in the offensive game plan hindered the offense some.  Sometimes pulling the reigns back a bit can throw off your momentum.

"Karma" +1

That was well played, Sir.

2nd half

I agree he had a tough time getting off of blocks.  However, he seemed to play a little more aggressively in the 2nd and was often in position to make the play in the edge.  IMHO, he grew up some today.

It's exciting watching puppies grow up isn't it?

The defense overall...

Played well for the most part.  If they could learn to eliminate SO MANY FREAKING BIG PLAYS, they would be formidable.

My personal opinion, the only difference b/w this offense and Oregon's is a defense that forces turnovers and 3 and outs.  Look at what our offense was able to do today even with 5 turnovers due to the defense actually forcing some 3 and outs/TOs on downs.

Lots of youngsters, but they are starting to grow up.

Cam Gordan

I think Cam showed today why they think so highly of him.  He played lights out and made some monster plays.  With his size and athletic ability he is going to be one helluva player before it is all said and done.

Wow!

The other offense never goes backwards.  The defense looks like a bunch of chickens with their heads chopped off...

In LaQuinta?

So...are you saying you stayed in DeQuinta, while staying in the LaQuinta, in Chicago?!

Oooohhh, the irony!

You my friend...

are correct!!!

Woodson?

Woodson won the Heisman as a Junior and was drafted the same year.

What are you talking about?!

1) Are you serious?!!

2)I mean, really, are you serious?

THEY LOST 1 GAME!!!

This is 4 years away...

Has anyone thought about the fact there will be more QB recruits in the coming years.  And, if recruiting goes as well as RR hopes than there will be a lot of QB battles in the coming years.  Hopefully, this argument is mute.  Competition is necessary when building  a program.  Look at the humbling lessons this has taught Tate.  He learned a lot from sitting back and watching, thus is a better player.  Isn't that the purpose of a coach, do whatever it takes to get the most out of his players?  Devin has 3 more years for a redshirt.  Besides, its better to have 3 QBs than 2.

To the OP!!!

You my friend are what we consider a traitor and should be ashamed of yourself.  You ever heard of anything called loyalty to the people that pay your bills?

I have been a Michigan for my entire life, but I do have enough for respect for the institution that awarded me my degree that I will have on my orange and brown at the game this weekend.  As much as I want to see Michigan do extremely well, this is all I have to say...

Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba Zoomba Zoomba, Ay-Ziggy- Zoomba-Zoomba-Ze, ROLL ALONG YOU BG WARRIORS!!!

IMHO, if UM doesn't get their defense squared away they will lose this weekend.  This team knows how to score points and they have for the past half decade or so.  This team is going to be better than UMass.  With that said, I think UM played like shit this past weekend and they will probably play a lot better next weekend.

Brian is 100% Correct

In Cover 2, the corner's responsibility is to read 2 to 1 (that is the middle slot & outside receiver).  The Sam backer (or whatever the heck that hybrid position is) should be leveraging #3 running to the flats.  The corner should be getting depth with #2 and ideally sqeezing the outside receiver to the safety.  The safety needs more depth so the he can see everything.  The way this play should have played out is with the corner dropping off on the deep 15 yard out and the safety taking the deep route running into his deep half.  If they would have thrown to #3 in the flats, you have two players (the corner and the Sam) with enough depth to rally to the ball.  It was a good call by the offense, but the defense was definitely in bad position.  If I were a coach grading the corner and safety, they both would have received a minus (maybe a double minus for the safety).  Neither of them were correct...

This is hilarious!!!

+1 to you, Sir.

KSU over PSU...why not?!

PSU looked horrible versus Alabama and Youngstown.  Their defense looked slow and the offense looked very meh with their true freshman QB.  We just witnessed 2 FCS teams upset BCS conference teams just last week.  Kent State is in the MAC, a FBS conference, going against what has looked like a very average PSU team thus far.  Now, mayber PSU proves me wrong an busts out this week.  The way they've looked, I doubt it.

Why is it crazy for him to pick this game as an upset?!  KSU lost to Boston College in what was a fairly close game other than the 2 touchdowns scored in the 3rd quarter.  Not to mention the MAC has played a lot of the B10 games tough over the past few seasons.

IMHO, "Crazy" Lou's prediction is far from off-based...

Not Classless at all...

It's kind of like one of those unwritten rules, you shouldn't leave the field with timeouts if you have lost the game.  That is a sign of not doing everything you can to win a game.  In all honesty, if I played for a coach that left timeouts on the field and we lost I would be highly pissed off!

I highly doubt it...

Bowling Green is a bowl team!

#1 Memory

Charles Woodson vs David Boston:

1) David Boston came back to school to prove he could beat Woodson.  And, Woodson locked him down.

2) They had the fist fight!!!

3) Keith Jackson calling Woodson's punt return to the house.

Just a heck of a game, period!!!

BIgger Rivalry?

I think that OSU - UM has more national attention, but to those that care MSU - UM is just as important.  How do you feel about the past two years?  To me it's just as bad as the last 6...

I can still remember UM/MSU week in elementary school.  This is when the administrators forced you to choose sides: we had huge flags all over the building, everyone wore Blue/Maize or Green, we learned "The Victors", etc.

I agree though, a midseason rivalry game doesn't have the significance of season ending game.  However, to those that matter it does not lessen the value of the rivaly itself.  Not to downplay what you're saying, but I'm just saying...

This is...

f'ing funny!!!

+1 to you, Sir!

Ain't that crap...

Wait all summer for some activities to actually take place and then we are left in the dark about everything...

GO FIGURE!

Check This Out...

There is a company that is based out of Bloomington, IL named "WALLSTUDZ" that makes a similar product.  They use a very quality material that can be applied and reapplied to multiple surfaces without accumlating wrinkles and losing adhesive quality.  The best things is that they can make a layout of any picture/collage that you choose.  Check out the link below:

Um, no disrespect

but, Bowling Green is a bowl team that knows how to score points on just about anyone.  Besides, they are a helluva lot  better than TURDLEDO!!!

Don't jump the gun buddy...

Ay Ziggy Zoomba!  (by alliance)

GO BLUE! (since childhood)

Honestly, I don't think

Honestly, I don't think either one of them are that fluid at corner.  They don't really have the "loose" hips you look for in a corner.  Troy has GREAT speed which will allow the DC to take more chances with him on the island without worrying about someone running past him, but overall he is not a better corner than Donovan at this time in his career.  Donovan has very natural instincts at corner and knows how to position himself as the offensive play developes.  Donovan has MUCH BETTER ball skills and knows how to make a play on the ball.  Also, Donovan is a better open field tackler.  Donovan was probably the 2nd best player on the defense last year.  Anyone that mentions he got burned IS WRONG.  He may have given up a catch here and there, but he was playing against the best player from the other team in most cases.  If it seemed like he was being picked on is, b/c GERG trusted him enough to line him up to the oppositions strength ALL THE  OF TIME.  Troy should be noticebly imporoved over last year, being that he had ample starting time last year.  THE MOST IMPORTANT thing for any CB is EXPERIENCE!  I think the ceiling is limit for Troy.  In addition, I think the defense overall will be much improved, which in turn, individual players should have more onfield success.

Now...

That's some from funny shit!!!

Do you know... Yes, I am certain that most universities that are willing to PAY for summer classes are going make sure that their student-athletes are attending class and doing well. Doesn't make much sense for an athletic department to pay for all those classes if they cannot assure themselves that the student-athletes are actually going to take care of their business. NOT JUST FOOTBALL, I have heard of all sports punishing their athletes for poor performance during summer classes. Hell, if they don't pass some of them, they could end up ineligible for the upcoming season. The 7 on 7 thing is interesting, b/c would you want your highly-prized athletes out running around and competing hard against one another without any supervision?! I WOULDN'T!!! The quality control are probably similar to coaches and they do know what is going on scheme-wise. Of course their presence is going to include some instruction. At most major universities, the student-athletes are being instructed ON EVERY SINGLE THING THEY DO...not just athletic related events.
Time Frame It definitely depends on the severity of the tear. However, that is not always the determining factor. Sometimes, it's body type, tolerance to pain, and HOW WELL OF A JOB THE DOCTOR DID?! With this being said, my room mate in college tore his ACL (FULL TEAR) against Ohio State like the 4th or 5th game of the season. He had surgery that week. He was competing during winter conditioning with NO KNEE BRACE (AGAINST THE COACHES WISHES). By spring ball, he was limited to some contact and he did sport one of those smaller cloth knee braces...HE NEVER WORE ONE OF THOSE BULKY BRACES THAT LOOK LIKE A MECHANICAL/ROBOTIC KNEE. For a guy that played in th game as much as VS did, I would have to assume that it wasn't too bad of a tear and/or that his body will be able to handle it. A large part of recovery is having strong quad muscles. Being that he is 5'6" 168 pounds, I will assume the his genetic make-up will aid in his recovery time.
It was certainly sent... Edit: Double Post
It was certainly sent... I don't really care if he responds or not. I only wanted to make him aware of his lack of integrity. Even if he only thinks about it for a brief second, he should know that such irresponsible journalism is not going to be accepted just b/c his poor excuse for "news" outlet doesn't enforce any level of accountability. THIS ARTICLE WAS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING and embarrassing for Demar and anyone close to him.
You're the scumbag You loser! Do you even know him? I do. I have a million dollars that says he is 100 times more of a stand-up guy than you'll ever be. For a matter fact, he probably has about $5 million that says the same thing. Get-a-life!!! You have no idea what these coaches go through. Obviously his record is an indication that maybe he isn't wired the way NORMAL coaches are, hence the multiple Championships and unmatched winning percentage in a relatively short coaching career.
And your opinion matters why? First off, if Ron's opinion shouldn't matter than neither should yours or the other countless media outlets that choose to continue weighing in on Tiger's personal issues. Yes, as fans we do have some right to know what's going on in his life if it perpetuates his character. Everyone is getting caught with the amount of women and how it happened. Whether it was 1 woman or 1 million women, IT IS STILL CHEATING and a cheat is cheat. However, that is an issue for him and his family to work out. Why do people base their feelings toward particular athletes in terms of who they are as a person. If for one second you think you know any of these athletes, YOU ARE WRONG. You know their athletic careers and less than 5% of their personal lives. Don't forget that the reason that WE ALL FELL IN LOVE w/ Tiger is, b/c he can hit a golf 400 yards. Besides, we don't know what the situation is that made Tiger do these things: Has she ever cheated on him? Maybe his marriage has been unfulfilling? Maybe their marriage is staged for publicity and they both knew what was going? Which of these women are telling the truth? You have no clue what is actually going on behind the scenes. People do yourself a favor and save the world valuable television time by letting go of these make-believe relationships where we think we know an athlete. Love them for what they are, incredible athletes. Just because they can swing a bat, hit a golf, run a fake 4.3 40-yard dash, jump & run, etc. does not mean that they are a quality human being. And just b/c someone does something that comprimises their character, it doesn't mean they aren't a good person. People are all children of God and Ron Ron is right, Only Jesus is perfect. And yea, there are A LOT more people in prominent positions that are doing the same thing. Athletes, actors, politicians, pastors, and even school teachers are cheating on their spouses. People it is 2010, look at the divorce rate and look at the rate of divorces that are based on infedelity. TIGER WOODS is a cheat, oh well get over it. He is human and he is still an incredible athlete. Like before, I will continue to respect Tiger's GOLFING ABILITIES. I do not care what he does off the course, b/c I do not know him and have no desire to ever get to know him!!!
FYI... Normally, you are gonna have at least 2 DBs 10 yards no matter the down and distance. Maybe at 8 yards if it's 3rd and 2 or less...
Cover 2 They were playing a form of cover 2 with the boundary (weakside) corner high. This allows them to keep williams in the box and play the run. Also, the TD when Kovacs got beat up the seam. He was out of position by alignment. It doesn't matter how fast, big, or strong he was...he wasn't making that play. Much of the problem with the defense is what you saw last year with the offense. A lot of young players in a new scheme. Don't think for one second that GR's system is easy to learn. It is huge bag of mix-ups well suited for the NFL. When these extremely young and inexperienced players have been in the system for a while, usually 2 spring balls, they will cause a lot of offensive coordinators to have sleepless nights.
I know exactly what it takes to play corner... Looking at Cissoko, he has the tools necessary to be a heck of a player. Remember, last year he was very promising at times for a true freshmen. With that, you are correct a lot of playing corner is mental. The mental part is having the confidence to know that you can cover anyone, not pysching out the opposing player. Trust me, if I just scorched you for 40 yards and you get up celebrating it is only gonna make my QB keep throwing at you. You think coaches don't notice the way he acts when he does anything? Yea they see that and their first thought is, "Throw the ball down is f**king throat!!!" Which is precisely what ND proceeded to do. Multiple plays in the row: G. Tate fade rout, G. Tate hitch, G. Tate slant, G. Tate TOUCHDOWN. You tell me who is getting under whose skin? The guy yapping or the guy making plays... Edit: +1 for you. For not allowing our opposing view points to influence your negging...
What does he do that is so bad? I haven't noticed that JC is that annoying when he does something. I think most people in general just have an innate hatred for annointed, media darlings with high expecations. Who likes Tim Tebow? How about Matt Leinart? Anyone for Eli Manning while he was at Ole Miss? I've seen tons of I love Matt Barkley shirts (not really)! All-in-for Brady Quinn, anyone? Tyrell Pryor is your favorite, right? This could go on for days. Point is no one outside of the hardcore really likes the good QBS. So, if you are rooting for them you are going to be annoyed by them. BooBoo is annoying and he should be embarrassed with his celebrations. If I watch a guy drop another ball and him get up and fold his arms as if he has done something, I am going to go crazy. If someone doesn't make a play, it doesn't always mean you made the play BooBoo!!!
Agreed Agreed
