Speaking of the horror... any other '07 grads who didn't realize going to 3 rose bowls in 4 years wouldnt always be normal? Appy State was the first home game I watched via telly as a grad and it was all downhill from there until now. I must be the good luck charm? Pretty sure we need to start an mgofundme to send me to every michigan game from here on out.

Iowa was a good team but also a beneficiary of a mediocre divison and crossover games with indiana and maryland. They barely beat average Wisconsin, Minny, and Nebraska teams en route to getting lucky not to face OSU in the B1G Championship, losing to MSU instead. MSU and Iowa proceeded to each get throttled in their bowl games that each were very fortunate to be in. They won the games they needed to to get there, but neither team were the world beaters their records suggested. So, yes NDSU will give them a game. Iowa just doesn't blow anyone out, especially disciplined teams. Ferentz is as close you get to Carr, with less talent.. I'll just leave it at that when facing lower division champions as a ranked team.
|3 days 2 hours ago||I just referenced the similarity below... Ferentz||
I just referenced the similarity below... Ferentz is much like carr too in conservative play calling, Iowa is ranked, ndsu is a lower divison multi year defending champ... the only difference is, Iowa always shits the bed after their magical season per decade and no one cares

Wouldn't be surprised if they beat iowa at all. Iowa plays very conservatively and Ndsu will pull out all stops to try and beat a ranked B1G team. Ferentz hasn't shown much ability to adjust mid game, they traditionally struggle in non conference, and also the years after their once per decade surprise teams after Ferentz solidifies another crazy extension.

Someone mentioned the other day how the B1G basketball tourney is in DC this year. I'm a couple hours on the opposite side of DC as you, but may make the drive for that.

Here's a clip of the game winner: https://mobile.twitter.com/umichfldhockey/status/769662019318456321/video/1
Pretty sweet corner with no time left. Also, all of the uniforms I've seen so far, including these, look so sharp with the darker maize and blue combo.

Unranked Iowa upset #7 Wake Forest today too. They swap opponents tomorrow to complete the mini-ACC/B1G Challenge in Winston Salem. Nice start for the Fall sports so far and beginning of the Nike Era v.2.
It's weird we have UNC scheduled again mid-season in Chapel Hill?
Michigan is perennially solid, but this was their first win vs. #1 since their 2001 NCAA championship year.

I would appreciate if this waited until:
A. The coach actually announces it.
B. Speight actually plays a down as a starter.
We've been the butt of jokes for preseason awards and recognition way too long for this type of stuff. Let's let the season and roster play out.
Also, as probable as this is true, why would you post someone else's inside info (still technically a rumor) on twitter?
|5 days 9 hours ago||I like it, but only less||
I like it, but only less often than it's played in Chicago or Indy. There are tons of B1G alums on the east coast who will take advantage of this opportunity to see their teams. Michigan alone nearly sells out the Barclays in Brooklyn each holiday season. One time in DC and NY each per decade I see as a great way to mix things up. I guess we will see how attendance is soon enough and be able to judge it's success.
Speaking for Michigan only, we would probably gain a home court advantage compared to other schools outside of Maryland.
|5 days 9 hours ago||We have to play the likely||
We have to play the likely top 3 ranked teams twice (MSU, WIS, IU). On the other hand, our road-only games are about as easy as it gets, which is a positive considering how hard B1G road wins are. Not having to travel to MD or PUR is a positive as well, and also OSU because even if they aren't good it will be a game they'd get up for in Columbus.
Overall, this schedule is tilted towards what I imagine to be the difficult end of B1G schedules. Like last year, there will be little room for error non-conference against the dreds we have scheduled because we are set up to be handicapped once again RPI-wise heading into the B1G gauntlet.

Exactly. Which is what I said. I don't mind the smart, planned snark... but constantly firing back at losers who want attention (Rome), etc is childish, even our local media picked up on that. We all knew the confident kid in high school everyone wanted to be. We also knew the overconfident obnoxious kid you couldn't wait to shut up. I like proving it on the field.

I might be in the minority, but I'm not the biggest fan of our coach and other associated accounts always immediately clapping back at any little comment. Didn't think Harbaugh should have given Rome the time of day or attention he was clearly fishing for either. Im all for a well-timed tweetburn, but I would hate to become the college football version of another person always in the media who can never resist reacting.

They claimed they were robbed by armed Brazlian authorities, so I guess they wanted to show them what armed Brazilian authorities look like before they left.
|1 week 6 days ago||I think is the opposite. I'm||
I think is the opposite. I'm waiting for the swimmers to have to make a public apology and we will all look stupid because of them. You're defending guys who were out until 7 am drinking, doing who know what else, causing them to potentially make up a story that embarrassed an entire country in front of the world.
|1 week 6 days ago||Well, they've provided||
Well, they've provided multiple conflicting versions of the story and there is surveillance of them at places that conflict with their stories by multiple hours. They're shown entering the village 3 hours later than they said they did, placing wallets and phones into bins at the metal detectors. So, I think Brazil might have a case to at least want some more answers. The lesson is, do not break any laws in a foreign country, ever. You are left up to their judgment whether you think it's fair or not.

The theory is they were doing something embarrassing. I.e. hookers and blow. And in their altered state made up the story as a cover.

When you potentially commit a crime (evidence strongly suggests they lied about their accusations) in a foreign country, this is what happens. They especially aren't going to let it slide when it is done by a well known Olympian, during the Olympics, and being broadcast worldwide while they are desperately trying to show the world a positive image (including spending a shit load of money trying to protect said athletes).

At least it's just relaying a joke made by one of our players. I was sure it would be an mgo-user attempt at the pitiful level we've seen all off season.

In sprinting you just have to cross the line at any height. In baseball you still have to land and touch the base. I don't really know if it's any faster, but it's still pretty dumb if you want to actually play a lot and not sit on the DL.

A bunch, but I'd say he's making the response to one reporter's question a slippery slope. Also faulty generalizations and ad hominem in just a hate for Harbaugh.

Cesar Ruiz is a main target for '17 from IMG, there's info about him currently on the front page. Dylan Moses is also a target on IMG, as well as Terrell Pryor's little brother Isaiah, who is already committed to OSU.

That one someone did by county I think for which team was most popular was pretty good. It would have been better with a bigger polling base. Most populated areas worked well but then we got like Stanford as the most popular team in Montana or something, and weird pockets in a bunch of other places that made no sense.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||When the coaches poll came||
When the coaches poll came out I remember comments about how it feels 'retro'. Lots of teams took leaves of absence for awhile. Some have been back for longer than others, but we had awhile where ND, Michigan, FSU, USC, Tennessee were gone, and are now back. Penn State, Nebraska, and Texas stand out to me as the main absentees still.. and I guess Miami, too.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||I'm glad CBS decided to make||
I'm glad CBS decided to make a fancy map of the preseason polls and fill in random other states with pretty pics of the only football team with a pulse. That said, WVU and MD should take a look in the mirror. PA is interesting right now.. all 3 Keystone teams are pretty even, IMO. The difference is Pitt is probably the most on the rise, PSU is stagnant at a level their fans aren't happy with, and Temple I think peaked last season and will drop back to reality. Michigan and MSU are close right now, but I don't think this is a surprise to anyone this season as we are seeing us ranked higher in nearly every poll.
