Not so much worried about Denard, the kid proved he can play last year. A little worried about offense in general, can't figure out if it was the oline or the improved defense. ( I know the oline didn't have all the starters) I not even worried about the defense it looks as though Mattison has them playing good football. I think the offense could sputter for a while this year, especially if they choose to line up in two tighend sets a lot. Hopefully Borges proves me wrong!

Also not to pick on him but why is Stu playing on the ball D, he "switched" with Hardaway but then double teamed. Where was a more athletic Morris or a better defender Novak in this spot? Heck even someone off the bench...

Kovacs is a good gritty player, who gives a ton of effort but is not overly athletic. Lets hope that some of the more athletic players push kovacs a little bit. The defense needs safeties that can cover and help in the run.
I am not sure it is so much the 3-3-5 as much as it is the dline and linebackers not executing. The dline does not change the line of scrimmage in a positive way. While the linebackers fill their gaps part of the time they do not scrape off of blocks to make tackles.
Also if you watch the passing game the actually secondary did not get burned a ton. Most of the passes looked like missed LB coverages. It is frustrating to watch some of the older LBs make the same mistakes over and over.
If certain things do not change it could be a long season next year. The size factor is huge, you cannot continue to start four shorter guards. Also we need to get stronger, you saw it today with the inability to finish the and one's underneath as well as getting the ball taken away easily. The last thing is make your stinkin shots, wide open threes cannot be missed all the time.
I think these things are going to change over time, Beilien is a great coach/great person, it will come together it just may take some time.
Whoever starts I am excited. There has been some build up of depth and speed. I think we will see how speed can help make up for mistakes, especially in the secondary.
I actually have no issue with what he said, he is entitled to his opinion as am I. Just because he may have given his heart does not mean that he was any good.

You could have been one of the worst starters, as well as captains that U of M has had. You not only were burned by every wideout in the big ten, you could not tackle. All in all the only reason you were drafted was because you ran a good forty time. When I see the number 14 on a Michigan jersey I think of pure suckiness!
I hate weddings in the fall, if it is not a close friend I am not going.
I got engaged around thanksgiving my wife really wanted a late summer early fall wedding, I told her after August 1st there will be no wedding, so we got married in july! Why this works is because she loves going to the games and watching the band!
It's just that old debate that many high school teams have. Do we schedule "puppies" to get to six wins and get into the playoffs or do we schedule tough opponents and when we make the playoffs we are better for it.
I would love to see big blue play some tough opponents like Texas/USC/Florida, how fun would that be! It would create a ton of hype around the program and I would think be better for recruiting.
Hopefully U of M learns from this and gets on the ball a little quicker next time.
I think the defense will be better than people think. The main key to a defense is coaching, can you game plan, and can you communicate? That is a question for Robinson, the main concern is Stevie Brown, I wonder when they are going to insert a different player in his position. I think Ezeh is going to show he is a stud this year, Campbell is also going to be a wrecking crew on the d-line.
I have been going to coahcing clinics for many years and I saw Barwis this year, he was the best presenter I have ever seen. He knows his stuff, the team this year is going to be a completly different animal. His focus actually makes you stronger period, not just in benching in squats but in athletic movements. His style is also going to prevent injuries.
