My cousin is a 2014 WR/DB from Sylvania Southview HS. My brother and I had the good fortune to go on an unofficial visit with him to the Northwestern game last year (his brother is a DB at NW) I got a chance to see some of the recruits, Shane was there sitting with Leon Mcquay, Brian Mone and Ian Bunting were both there with their mothers. Beforehand we got to walk down the tunnel and be on the field during warm-ups. During the game I got to sit 4 rows up on the 50 yard line, easily the best seats I've ever had. Afterwards I got to meet Gorgeous Al, he was happy to talk football with us. I have the lanyard proudly hanging at home.
I work with Gordie's son Murray at Toledo Hospital, Gordie comes by to visit on occasion, It's funny to watch people do a double take when they see Gordie Howe walking down the hall of Toledo hospital. I Both Gordie and his son are class acts.
It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Manning hired. Aside from being a Michigan alum and a good coach, he is a young African American man who can likely relate to some kids in a way a that a 50 year old white guy might not be able to...just sayin
