Is there anything to suggest the "hammer is coming down" other than a report that Cal might be interest in the Pelicans' job?
|1 week 2 days ago||Good.||
Auburn's had an MNC and two appearances in the title game since UM last appeared in the Rose Bowl... and yet they're still aiming for us. Glad JH is here.

Labor under the mistaken belief that signing up for a free log-in and "publishing" a comment imbues them with the editorial sense and judgment of Ben Bradlee when it comes to offering "criticism." No, no, people. You're mostly just being a-holes.

But the general response to people who complain about dumb topics being started on MGoBoard is, "YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO CLICK ON IT." Which I agree with.
It follows, though, that titling a super dumb topic with a misleading/semi-interesting subject is indisputably annoying (again, mildly so. This is the MGoBoard, not a United Nations Security Council vote).

1.) Typically, a player being called the "quarterback of the defense" wouldn't be threadworthy. But if you want to start a thread about it, fine. If I don't want to read it, I won't click (as many point out). You, however,
2.) Title it "QB Peppers" obviously implying Peppers might take a few snaps at QB (my thought was, "huh, is he running a scout team practicing the spread? Wildcat?")... you know you created this implication because your first word after that was, "NO"
It's this sort of shit that, in my opinion, clutters the board with nonsense. Not a big deal, but mild annoyance. Hence, the downvotes.
|6 weeks 1 day ago||You know how people respond to angry replies by saying,||
"Yeah, well you didn't need to click on the thread when the topic obviously didn't interest you."
Wordplay and misdirection in a subject is always downvote worthy, particularly when the topic turns on a banality.
|7 weeks 1 day ago||Odd to see how many people think it's Brown and "not even close"||
I'd always take the guy who has done it at a top level (enough to be widely considered a fringe lottery pick until his injury)... not to mention he's been in Beilein's system for years (ask Kam Chatman how that matters).
I'd consider Brown because, frankly, it'd be nice if Beilein could grab a top 5 kid as it might continue some recruiting momentum (we all know top kids look to see where other top kids go)... but Levert seems to be more of a known quantity and won't have to adjust to the college game or a new system. I'd take Levert.

Except the part of Izzo injurying his team with cricket bats if he goes down big to UM. 100% buy that.

That Millen called the GM of the team with the pick ahead of him to tell him who he was going to take.
Classic fucking Millen.

Get a little "Heisman finalist" out of him or a little "white RB" out of him? The latter is probably more likely ;)
|15 weeks 5 days ago||First of all||
It's not being homery to be a little skeptical re: Michigan's "lie..." UM offered 3-4 RBs the weeks leading up to NLOI day, all while recruiting Weber. Higdon visited the same weekend Weber apparently did. And as the OP points out, Michigan accepted Higdon's LOI first thing in the morning, hours before Weber's decision. Hardly seems like a program trying to swindle a kid.
But -- even if you accept it was a lie... and man, as I said, that's the worst executed lie ever ("you'll be our only RB" "what about the RB who just committed, Higdon?" "NEVER HEARD OF HIM NOW TURN OFF YOUR INTERNET"), talk about false equivalency.
|15 weeks 6 days ago||Honestly, I think people are too sensitive to rival fan trolls||
I don't know a single Michigan fan that doesn't think this was a really solid effort. Frankly, the MSU and few OSU fans I know think so, too.
I've seen many MSU/OSU trolls on the internet saying otherwise, but man, that's just the internet.
Harbaugh had 3 weeks, flipped kids from Iowa, Texas, UConn, Nebraska, and Northwestern, and beat FSU head-to-head for a Florida kid. He got last-second visits from a host of big time kids (Marshall, Smith) or kids already committed to other programs (Lockett, etc.), and tried to microwave 2 years of relationship-building in 3 weeks.
Honestly? We're lucky this was a small class and I can't wait to see how next year goes: on the field and in recruiting.
|19 weeks 3 days ago||Y'all are reaching here.||
There are 1000 more pathetic ways to get attention than this; and Dave Brandon tried them all.
Honestly, who cares if MSU takes an ad out purportedly to thank their bowl game city hosts? Yeah, their real motivation is to advertise the program and steal a tiny bit of attention... but... this is a pretty smart way to do it.
|23 weeks 5 days ago||BRIAN: Good mailbag, but re: attrition/transition||
I think the emailer meant the transition from Carr-to-RichRod. Would make more sense given that he previously referenced moving from Hoke to a spread guy... and also because the Carr-RR transition saw heavier attrition (Mallett/Boren and a raft of other "non family values"/early entry guys).

|28 weeks 2 days ago||The only case you can make||
is based on "making decisions is hard, firing a coach and hiring a new coach involves a lot of decisions, therefore, let's retain him."
That's pretty much it. Every time I hear a rumor that UM would like to keep Hoke on, all I hear is, "MAN, firing/hiring a coach seems like a lot of work!"

|31 weeks 46 min ago||This is bummer news||
But I think y'all are overstating its likely meaning. A med hardship would typically be for a 4th yr Jr., not a young player who has plenty of time to try to rehab something. It'd have to be a pretty bad injury to a young player to get a hardship (or you'd have to be a low performing Frosh/soph at Bama... zing).
|33 weeks 5 days ago||Explosion||
To each their own, man. Winning certainly has a way of brushing systemic problems under the rug. Not sure I think that's a good thing, or suggests more rational thinking about the underlying problems, but so be it.
For what it's worth: I gave up 14 years straight of season tickets before this year's shit-show, despite there being quite a bit of optimism about a 5th-year Devin, Nuss, etc. My issues were/are with the department, not (at least not just) the Ws Ls.
