Please stop giving these goons clicks.

Stupid question - does a

Stupid question - does a lefty QB signicantly affect the offensive line and how they execute schematically? Just wondering because they are showing some signs of improvement and I am curious what changing from righty to lefty would affect their abilities...

Did you watch the game? There Did you watch the game? There were several deep shots taken.
Well done Mr. Valenti. Well

Well done Mr. Valenti. Well done.

So true. He sure does run a

So true. He sure does run a lot of crossing routes where he finds the zone under the safeties in the middle of the field and Stafford throws it up where only we can get it. The problem is, he takes quite a beating on a majority of the catches. I think after a while that would wear on you and make you concentrate less on finishing the catch and more on taking the hit.

Stat Padford? Really?

Stat Padford? Really?

Aside from that I somewhat agree, he's starting to remind me of Romo. Talented but turnover-prone. I can only hope a change to the offensive system might improve things. I don't think he's going anywhere any time soon so here's to hoping we can make it work and fast. So much talent...

Quinoa almost has no taste and we cook with it all the time. I hear this a lot though so I'm not sure what other people are doing to their quinoa. Or maybe our vegan/vegetarian taste buds are all out of whack...

I should add I enjoyed the I should add I enjoyed the content of this particular post and don't mind the back and forth debate. Just thought your tone was distasteful. Maybe that's just me.
I think SC's counter analysis I think SC's counter analysis adds never before seen depth and variety to this site. Please don't make that go away over your ego Brian. Love the work you do, don't take the process of coming to different conclusions so personally.

My snark'o'meter is fully functioning!

I totally agree with you.

I totally agree with you. We've seen plays broken down before that had no real chance of success. I wouldn't put this one in that pile is all.

I could see someone saying Denard would have kept the ball and still made that player miss, thereby covering up Kerridge's inability to execute seemingly obvious assignment. (and to the bigger point, his coaches' inability to teach said ability).

I think many of us are arguing over the minute details of exactly how this offensive coaching staff is failing the team.

Semantics? "Adjusting

Semantics? "Adjusting accordingly" implies the correct adjustment is made no?

Maybe. Maybe not. Probably

Maybe. Maybe not. Probably not?

Either way I'm not arguing with you. Whether it's bad schemes or poor fundamentals it falls back onto coaching.

Is it weird that I'm encouraged that this play actually had a chance? I mean I could see them getting a first down here if things went right. (A first down is when we pass the line where the ball was snapped right?)

Kerridge whiffs the block,

Kerridge whiffs the block, causes Fitz to stop after Devin keeps in an attempt to avoid being blowed up by incoming defender, Fitz trips up Devin by doing so and the play just kinda falls apart as Devin stumbles towards line trying to regain balance. If Kerridge gets just a piece of his man this play looks to be a huge gain.

I tend to agree with you but

I tend to agree with you but I'm not sure this play is damning evidence in that regard. The play was there for the taking were it not for a whiffed block (bad angle by Kerridge) and an unforunate tangling of the feet due to Fitz's adjustment.

So well said. Feet need to be

So well said. Feet need to be held to the fire. I don't think an internet blogger is going to influence much in a presser, but at least make him answer for the complete failure he has created.

We have (statistically

We have (statistically anyhow) a good run defense, right? So, when we execute these plays in practice, are they seeing better results than in the game?

I would think not. Wouldn't the same issues come up over and over? Is our O-Line just great in practice and then they fall apart in the game? Or maybe Greg doesn't simulate 8-10 in the box like we continually see in the game?

Do they not watch film together and say, "shit Al we're running into a sea of dudes can we try spreading things out a bit?"

Wouldn't Greg speak up? Surely he can watch that game and tell Al what's going on. I just don't get it.

I get that nothing will work or look good on tape if your offensive line can't execute, but are we just the most unlucky team in the country when it comes to O-Line personnel? Despite the fact that we should have at least an average O-Line unit in terms of experience and star ranking they, in reality, are terrible?

It's coaching right? The fuck is going on?

Thanks for doing this Brian. Love the UFRs

This is hilarious and should definitely be a thing.

What is so special about

What is so special about Notre Dame that so many great recruits from all over the country want to commit there, then commit somewhere else?

Questions are rarely so full of win. Hilarious...

Running backs. Is Fitz back

Running backs. Is Fitz back to 2011 form? Out of Hayes/Green/Smith who sees the most production at this point?

How are your young receivers at catching the ball?

You get picked for first question and you lead with that? Really? REALLY?

Wasn't a comment in passing?

Huh? Did he think he was a good bowler?

See what I did? See that?

edit: Also, Green redshirts? Are you crapping kidding me?

I'm in the market for UCONN

I'm in the market for UCONN tickets. Are they hard to come by? I'd rather not mess with season tickets. Wasn't sure what the general situation was regarding getting tickets and pricing. I had looked a bit but didn't find much besides typical stubhub, etc.

I left this game early and

I left this game early and missed the "Braylonfest" that occurred. I missed it again as I'm just seeing this post. Maybe it's better that way...

I think I'll be in Bloomington tomorrow because it's where my house is and I don't have any plans. I would have bought tickets but they were pretty expensive and so our diapers...

Go Blue!

Braylonfest We left early and heard the cheers as we walked and knew we made a mistake. Watched the ending on a small television in our van where we parked. Never again. NEVER.
Fitz is running hard, I get

Fitz is running hard, I get that part of what Hoke sees. I also understand that Hoke is not the kind of coach to speak to the skill positions as much as the action in the trenches. But when's the last time you saw Fitz get a single yard that wasn't there for the taking for any average back? At least Rawls can run through guys and get a few yards tacked on at the end. Fitz was so shifty in space last year and developed some really nice vision. What happened?

I'm tired of hearing about it too, but at some point we have to give Rawls a shot. The differential between Denard and Fitz ypc can only be explained partially from a shematics standpoint. There are many times where it's undeniable that the difference is talent. I see Denard time and time again make something out of nothing. I haven't seen that at all from Fitz this year. I know Denard >> Fitz, but I'd still expect SOME playmaking ability from our RB....

Y U NO LIKE Funchess or

Y U NO LIKE Funchess or Gallon?

I want Rawls more and more

I want Rawls more and more every week. There was a run early in the game where Fitz had superb blocking set up for a long run and he did absolutely nothing with it. It's like he found the only defender in a position to make a play and ran to him.

So glad to get the win.

So glad to get the win. BUT

Re: fake punt; the thing that really gets me on that is that Gallon was virtually a lock to either let the ball roll to a stop or fair catch because that's all he ever does. So why do anything but be conservative on looking for a fake?

Gholston just seems like a

Gholston just seems like a jerk and Denard never stops being a class act.

Yes. I'm convinced we don't

Yes. I'm convinced we don't practice hurry up offense very often.

Few pictures I took with a cheap camera from pre-game...

Hoke teaching 'em up...

Denard throwing the ball with Al looking on...

Dave and Brady saying "Let's do this" as they walk off the field following warm-ups...

Going into the game everyone

Going into the game everyone knew ND's front seven was stacked and we were all excited at the prospect of the new and improved Denard tearing up their incredibly insufficient secondary.

Denard plays like absolute shit and now the pitchforks are out for Borges making Denard throw the football.

Taking a sack and throwing

Taking a sack and throwing the ball away are normal and common occurences during a football game. Not every play will be perfectly blocked and not all routes will be perfectly ran. It's up the QB to "manage" the game and take what the defense gives him. Throwing the ball in those situations is not on the OC.

I love Denard and hope he bounces back. But he played like shit Saturday and that's okay to admit.

Jesus H Christ the man plays

Jesus H Christ the man plays the position of quarterback. When he throws the ball into the chest of the opposing players over and over again it's okay to say he played like shit. No need for over complicating the issue. Had he NOT played like shit, the article would make no mention of Borges and glorify Denard for progressing like we all thought and hoped he would.

That's just Hoke doing

That's just Hoke doing coachspeak and shielding his QB from harsh criticism he knows is coming. Did you really expect the coach to come out and say "Yea, Denard really sucked it up today."
