"Silencing by triggered/offended/SJW groups happens all the time on college campuses these days, but that doesn't mean it's not a tyrannical approach that disenfranchises minorities and allows the privileged to persecute the powerless."
Could you elaborate on that one?

Hmm your timeline seems to be missing the "Urban Meyer signs more scholarship athletes then he has avaliable scholarships for" on your timeline.
Can't imagine why you'd leave that piece of informaiton out.

I can't disagree with that one at all.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||That's fair||
I was a HUGE fan of www.firejoemorgan.com so I enjoy that style of just tearing an article apart, but can easily see how it's just snagging low hanging fruit (which... it totally is haha)
|2 weeks 2 days ago||This sums up my issue||
This article sums up my issue with Simmons pretty well... yeah deadspin I know.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||Actually read it||
Read the NLI and let me know where it guarantees them a scholarship once they sign.
I'm no lawyer and may be just completely missing it, but I don't see it guaranteeing anything. The Finacial Aid Agreement does, and while signing that is part of the NLI, the NLI itself doesn't seem to guarantee jack squat for the student athelete.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||Advertisers||
While I 1000% support the NFL taking a very hard stance on domestic abusers and similar. The main reason why the NFL is so different has everything to do with where the NFL is getting their money. Advertisers and a growing amount of the fan base want to see the NFL take strong action against domestic abusers because of the massive amount of attention the NFL gets. I mean... money talks.
It's not necessarily about the players being role models, but the NFL being able to take action and tell a huge chunk of society, including millions and millions of kids and teens "This is not acceptable. If you want to have the privilage of playing pro football, you can't do this stuff."
As the old saying goes "With great power comes great responsbility" The NFL, and their players, have a great amount of power in society. Far far more than a car wash does... unless that car wash is owned by Walter White.

There are SC2 pros all over the world, not just South Korea. The scene in south korea is certainly different from the rest of the world though, and the best 8-12 players in the game today are all from south korea (and i'm being friendly when I say that, in reality it's really the top 16-24 players are all korean. There are no stephano's around anymore.)
You also get awesomeness like this in Proleague in Korea: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nv-KLL-Dkdk
I love me some MC. Shame he's fallen off over the last year and a half.
|4 weeks 15 min ago||It's also a grind||
I can totally see it as living the dream, but it's also an insane grind. The successful twitch streamers almost always are 6-7 day a week guys with no sick days type of deal, it's also pretty hard work as the best ones are constantly talking and interacting with their viewers. And if you're not one of the lucky few that can kind of pick and choose what game you want to play, it becomes an even bigger grind of playing the same game day in and day out all day long.
Twitch viewers are also notoriously flakey, if you take just a few days off you can lose a lot of your viewers and with them their money.
Don't get me wrong, there are far worse jobs out there, but it's a lot more difficult and a lot more of a grind than just playing video games for a living.
|4 weeks 10 hours ago||Uh Oh||
Look out guys, he played ladder matches 5-10 years ago. He totally knows what he's talking about. </sarcasm> ;)

The announcers do it as a profession. Artosis and Tasteless live in Korea and cast major SC2 tournys for a living (have for a few years now). Day9 has made a living off of casting and steaming for 4 or 5 years now too. All 3 are former pros as well.
EDIT: Hehe, replied to someone on the android phone app and that post doesn't show up here. :)

Pro gamers are more talented at their game than 99.99% of the population. They have talent, its just not athletic talent that you correlate with sports.

|4 weeks 5 days ago||Well||
He gave commentary from the view of a black man as to why black men aren't as interested in the game. That doesn't mean he was making it a "race issue."
And he did offer a solution, make the game more appealing to black culture. His view was if MLB were to do that, blacks and american youth in general would follow the game more.
|4 weeks 5 days ago||Not really||
Not really. There were a very small handful of people at that time with that view. It sure as shit wasn't "many many many" like you originally said.
RR didn't lose Mgoblog until year 3.
|4 weeks 5 days ago||And why||
And why, exactly, did the Chris Rock segment tick you off?
|4 weeks 5 days ago||Uhh||
"many many many people on this board"
On this board? Nah man, your memory is confusing you. When RR was hired the vast vast majority of people on this board were behind him, and when Boren transfer talking about how it wasn't a family atmosphere anymore, hardly anyone here was on Boren's side.
Rivals... that's a different story.

I know that Rivals believes they will get pretty close to that number, and they do not believe he will be oversigning.
|6 weeks 5 days ago||I was||
I was assuming there was a more recent quote that Balas was basing things off of. Since that quote is from 1/2 a year ago and all.
If not, then yeah Balas is for sure just speculating.
|6 weeks 5 days ago||Huh?||
I'm not following your point here. Or at least not following your point to where it's relevant.
JJ Watt was a 2 star recruit that most coaches didn't think highly of. Even at CMU, he wasn't super highly thought of. (As mentioned, he was recruited as a TE and then tried to shift him to be on the OL, that's when he decided to transfer because he wanted to play DE.
So, can you maybe clarify your point a bit here? Cause as it stands right now, JJ Watt was still a really crappy example to use.
|6 weeks 5 days ago||Coaches||
Coaches didn't see anything in J.J. Watt either when he was coming out of HS. He wasn't anywhere closer to who he is now.
Remember, he was recruited to Central Michigan as a Tight End, and then transfered to walk-on at Wisconsin. Then he became the monster we all know him as today.
Long story short: JJ Watt is a poor example of the point you're trying to show. :D
|6 weeks 5 days ago||Honestly||
I honestly believe the vast majority of college coaches would have at least honored that first year and done the same thing Beilein has done. That doesn't mean Beilein hasn't been absolutely amazing in this situation.
|6 weeks 5 days ago||What||
What did Beilein actually say?
I read the article but it didn't actually quote Beilein anywhere. Curious if you have a link to an article with the comments Beilein actually made, since you're claiming Balas is just interpreting what he said.
|6 weeks 5 days ago||Heh||
I'm sure you've talked to Belien and know for sure what he will decide if Brown wants to commit.
|7 weeks 2 days ago||That's just how society works||
I don't think it's any more systemic now than before, just that everything is much more public and spreads much much quicker. So you can have an incident and a large scale response to the incident in a very short amount of time. Something that wasn't nearly as possible during previous society and culture changes.
You also have more and more people standing up for themselves and others, as more people become vocal about standing up for what they feel is right, and as society shifts to the majority agreeing that they are right, you will see more people "face scorn" of being called out for their opinons or views that aren't congruent with society, or where activists want to see society go.
That's completely their right to do so, just as it's someones right to hold an unpopular opinion.
I, admittedly, would be interested in some examples. But as mentioned, we're already on the line of politics on this board, and we probably would cross it at that point.
|7 weeks 2 days ago||I disagree||
There has always been opinions that "cannot be had" in society. Nothing has changed on that front in anyway at all.
The issue is some people are upset that society doesn't appreciate/agree with an opinion they have or have held for a long time. It's not too hard to understand why, when you think you're right... you think you're right. Ontop of that, many people feel that being able to voice their opinion without any type of response to it is their personal free speech. Which, is just ignorance.
BUT, I have a strong feeling this will start getting too political and will get nipped in the bud. My only intention with this post is to say people having opinions that society doesn't agree with anymore isn't anything new. Just that some people are experiencing that for themselves for the first time and they, understandably, don't like it.

|14 weeks 6 days ago||That||
That sure sounds like one slippery slope of an argument you're trying to give there.
You really think having a campaign to raise awareness not to say things like retard and faggot is going to snowball to raising awareness on not talking about conservative political views? Is that really the argument you're making? Cause that's sure what it sounds like.
|15 weeks 3 days ago||Not everyone is||
We haven't had much attrition under Hoke, and signed some big classes recently. That's really all there is to it man.
Even if a school had zero attrition, they could take 21-22 players every year. (If they also dumped all 5th year seniors). Since most schools have a lot more attrition than zero, it's not all that complicated to see why most can sign 20-30 each year, even while not oversigning.

I haven't read or seen much to indicate that this is a "backup plan" for Gentry. Not to mention, it doesn't seem like Harbaugh would go after a guy that would avoid competition like that.
|17 weeks 5 days ago||I Disagree||
"As for him not liking his co-workers or owner, shit happens; it's not a great reason to leave."
I respectfully disagree. While I have no clue what the exact motives Marrone had in his decision, leaving a job because you're unhappy with co-workers, owner and management is a perfectly valid reason.
However, where I differ from Marrone is I would be damn sure I have a new job lined up before leaving. :)
|18 weeks 2 days ago||When||
When you're clearly head and shoulders above the competition, that obviously can't even remotely handle the press, you're really not going to get any real "practice" by pushing on for the entire game.
|18 weeks 3 days ago||Aw man||
Poor stringer? Where you saying that as he was being all shady with D'Angelo and his girl? Or doing shit to Wallace and Avon?
Stringer didn't want to change, he wanted people to think he was changing. He always wanted/thought to be better than everyone else he was with, and took going "legit" as a way to step up ontop of everyone else. But he wasn't really truly trying to be legit.He was the same as everyone else around him, but always just looked down his nose. Drove me crazy man.
I'd say I'm Team Avon for the record.

So it's just things you imagine in your head rather than reality. Gotcha.
Thanks for clearing that up!
|22 weeks 3 days ago||Hmm||
Also, Hoke's tenure was nowhere near as bad as RR's. BCS bowl, kids graduating, and a pretty well stocked team (QB not included) for the next coach.
Lets see, a BCS bowl that we kinda fell into, (and had a lucky ref call go our way to win.) using RRs offensive system and recurits.
I don't recall RR having issues with students graduating, I'm assuming you're referring to the APR while he was here? Or was there an issue there that I'm either forgetting or never knew about?
Hoke did recruit star talent much better than RR did, I can give you that much.
|22 weeks 3 days ago||While||
While he may have plenty of offers in the NFL that he can use as leverage. That doesn't mean they're were going to be $8M offers that he could leverage. There is a very large and clear difference there.
I would dismiss the second tweet for different reasons, but I certainly wouldn't do so for the reason you're giving.
|24 weeks 3 days ago||Not so sure||
I'm not so sure about that one. Seems like a decent reach to me, and a situation that Michigan wouldn't really see any benefit from... they can already be pretty damn picky.
Not to mention, that sure is looking at a pretty small portion of the overall situation.

Oh no doubt, he made some sick throws in college. The one I remember the most is actually the Capital One Bowl, pretty sure first touchdown of the game where he rifled it into a super small window between the saftey and corner.
However, consistency was never a strong point of his. Tacopants was a regularly targeted reciever for him.
|1 year 1 week ago||Well||
Because it's extremely difficult to be a good QB in the NFL. That's really about it.
Chad was never an amazing QB even while at Michigan. He put up very good numbers and I loved having him as the QB on our team, don't get me wrong. But he was never the star of the offense, and he had a LOT of talent around him too.
He's also played for teams that had average to below average talent, even while at Miami. He's not the type of QB that's going to make everyone around him much better, but he is the type of QB that can play with talent.
He's a solid backup QB in the NFL. That still puts him at the top .01% of QBs in the world. (48% of statistics are made up on the spot BTW)
|1 year 1 week ago||Please explain||
Please explain why that is. I'd truly love to hear why.
|1 year 1 week ago||Soo||
So, just so I understand your argument here.
You agree that Curry would "dust" Nik because he shot 44% from three while averaging 10+ threes a game (Ignoring that he shot just 38% the following year)
Vs Nik, who shot 44.2% this year (vs curry's %43.9 high) and had a higher career as well at 44.1% vs 41% for curry.
The only advantage for Curry is he jacked up more 3s (9.6/gm vs 5.2/gm)
Don't get me wrong here, I think it would be extremely entertaining and close. However, I do think it's ridiculous to believe curry would "dust" Nik while using those stats as the reason why.
|1 year 1 week ago||Eh||
I can see why they would want to be able to say that. But I don't see any reason as to why they should be able to say that.

I'm sure the students would like it as well. I'd perfer a lot of different options to an all-out bidding war
However, i'm not blaming the students or former athelets here, like it seems others are (not you :) ) I'm blaming the NCAA, as they built the monster they are now facing. When you have a situation that flat out punshes a "student athlete" for playing sports... something is wrong.
I remember hearing a story on this board (i'll try to track it down if someone wants) that talked about a Michigan Football player having a friend fix up his car for a few beers. After the compliance department saw that his car was fixed, they asked him to provide reciepts of the work done at an auto shop. When he told them his buddy did it, he had to take his car to an auto shop... get a quote for the work was done, and then pay his friend the amount needed for the car to be repaired if he took it in. That's fucked up. Since then i've heard of similar stories at other colleges... it's no joke.
|1 year 16 weeks ago||Yeah... about that.||
I've heard this rumor before, and laugh everytime I hear it.
First, to assume that Stern would suspend MJ with the insane amount of money he was bringing into the league is ridiculous. That would not happen in the real world... period. It doesn't matter what MJ was doing or who he was doing it with... he was bringing in wayyy too much money and bringing wayyy too much attention to the league at the time.
But lets live in a fanttasy world where that did happen, to assume that MJ would take the suspension and not fight it is also laughable. MJ is a very stubborn, vengeful and bitter man (Don't really need to look much further than his Hall of Fame acceptance speech for evidence of that.) There is not a chance in hell he would bow out for two years without fighitng back.
To me, I take what happened at pretty much face value. His father dying probably had a pretty big impact on him, throw that in with where he was at in his NBA career (Killing it) I completely believe that he was growing tired of Basketball, and believed he would be successful at baseball. Occam's Razor and all that jazz.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Oh boy, you sure burned me!||

|1 year 18 weeks ago||He shouldn't care||
The last thing I want in a Head Coach is someone who has a plan, and isn't going to follow it for fear the fans won't like it.
He shouldn't care in anyway about how Lions Fans would like hiring Tressel, nor does he need to convince a single fan that Tressel would be the right guy for the job.
The only thing the coach needs to care about is winning. If he wins, nobody cares who he hired.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||EH||
I understand people paying attention to it. It just means nothing at all to me. 14+ years ago and not in the NFL. It's nearly meaningless to the job he can do.
I'm not saying the guy is going to be Vince Lombardi or anything. I just kinda laugh at the people who think he's going to fail because he wasn't a good College Coach.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Um||
Then your dad lost some money because your Uncle should have payed him more than a few times in 21 years.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Personally||
Personally, I couldn't care less about his record at Wake Forest. The job and duties of a college football coach are nothing like that of an NFL Coach. There are horrible College Coaches that end up doing great in the Pros, and great college coaches that completely flame out in the Pros.
Not to mention, that was over 14 years ago. It's not that meaningful now.
But I get it... He's not a big huge name so people will hate.
|1 year 24 weeks ago||Confirmed||
Confirmed, your Jim Delany's son. ;)
I can only say that I'm really really glad I don't have the same priorities you do.
|1 year 24 weeks ago||For me||
For me it's all about risk management. So lets take a look at things.
First, even as you mention , MSU is likely going to the rose bowl with a W or an L in this game. So since that's going to happen we can ignore the outcome of the game for the risk of MSU going to the rose bowl. So , for me, that's not even a factor.
Then you have recuriting. A MSU win could impact our recuriting a bit when going up against MSU, no doubt about that. Butt... it probably won't have any long lasting effects. There is more holding back MSU's recuriting efforts than their trips to the Rose Bowl. So that's a very small factor for an MSU win.
The flip side is an OSU win. Well lets take a look at that. We know if they lose they will not be going to an NC game... we know if they win there is a damn good chance they will be in the NC game. The risk of OSU being in a NC game is HUGE to me... Seeing them win a NC bothers me 100000x more than MSU making it to the rose bowl. So this is clearly a factor for me. It's nice to see you're confident they'll lose... but yeah, reality says they can easily win one too.
Then you have recuriting. OSU is clearly more of a rival in recuriting than MSU. Them just making the NC game will boost their efforts, winning it will do even more. So another huge factor for an OSU win.
Throw in the fact that OSU is our #1 Rival and it's really not even close. I don't get how anyone could root for OSU in this game... but hey.
|1 year 24 weeks ago||Wait||
Wait... so you'd rather OSU have a shot at winning the NC than an SEC team.
Are you Jim Delaney's son or something?
I would take an SEC championship any and every year of an OSU one. That's not even close for me... I get conference pride,but not when it's OSU that's playing.

You can be very displeased with the job he's done. You can hate his offensive style, hell you can even dislike the man (Although, I don't really know why you would. He's a pretty great guy.).
But to hate someone, just because the team you root for is struggling? That's pretty fucked up man.

I love Raiola, I can also easily see him doing something like that.
|1 year 32 weeks ago||The right call was made||
I saw that too, and the right call was made.
The play went to the right hash and the playside ref spotted the ball as they're suppose to do. They did not steal a first down for NW.
Not to mention, the right call was made in the NW game. There was one angle where the yellow lines were tricky (You can actually see the yellow/blue lines moving during the play, they weren't reliable from that angle) that made it seem like he may have gotten a first down, other than that there really was nothing that made it seem taht way.
|1 year 34 weeks ago||I'm bored||
So I'll respond.
1.) I have a hard time thinking this scenario is really going to happen. There are a lot of "ifs" in there and at the end of the day you're just making a slippery slope argument that currently doesn't have a ton of facts to support it.
2.) I sorta would need to know what safeguard thoughts Brian was thinking when he said it. But if it were me I would attempt to work with the NFL so only NFL Approved agents are allowed. Doesn't seem as if it would be that difficult to do. It would not prevent shady agents from sneaking around though... but I again don't really see this as a very strong argument.
3.) This seems to be another claim with little evidence to support it. Why do you think this would happen? Is point shaving rampent in the pros where people can easily hide the extra income? Is there any proof that this would happen? I don't really see it anywhere.

|1 year 39 weeks ago||Wow||
Are you actually trying to say that Brady Hoke, and a vast majority of Michigan fans, are calling OSU Ohio because OSU was sometimes referred to as Ohio in the 60's and 70's by the radio announcer, or because OSU occasionally was referred to as Ohio in the early 80's?
If so.... you be crazy man... you be crazy.
If not, than what's your point?

|2 years 11 weeks ago||Personally||
Personally, I really don't think that the RB positon is as wide open as you do. I highly doubt we'll see Drake be the #2 RB next year. I think people are ignoring a Fitz a bit to much as well, it's one thing to have a few comments about you (And outside this one I haven't heard a ton about Drake) and another to have on field results.
Granted, Fitz is coming off a gnarly leg injury. But I still think our Fitz will without question be in our top 2 RBs, and in all likelyhood I think he'll be the starter, atleast when the season starts.

No, the Alumni ran onto the field and the students yelled down in front.
|2 years 39 weeks ago||That's Fair||
That's fair that it's your view. I have no doubts that it will be far worse than some playoff proponents think.
My thought? I lived through the Horror... I can live through anything. :)
|2 years 39 weeks ago||I must say, I do appreciate||
I must say, I do appreciate the honesty. :) I wasn't necessarily trying to call you mentally weak as much as your view of this topic is mentally weak.
The "I told you so" in that scenario still doens't make sense. Unless they said "That won't happen." or "It won't really suck." Otherwise... it just doesn't make any sense. It's used when someone disagrees with you, and then it turns out you were right. Using it against someone who didn't disagree with you on that subject doesn't fit.
Also, the scenario you are describing can happen in any scenario there is... it happens every year whenever we go into a game as a large favorite. What does it matter if we are the #1 seed who is "clearly better" than the #4 seed and lose to them, thus costing us our National Championship hopes in a playoff system. Or being the #1 seed and losing to an unranked Illinois team during the season, costing us our National Championship hopes in a BCS system (But very possibly making the playoff system)?
That risk of extreme disappointment is the nature of the beast of being a sports fan, your dominate team can, and will, lose in situations that will cost them everything. Introducing a playoff doesn't move the needle on that situation what so ever. And lastly... if they lose to a team in a playoff that they were clearly better of, they also probably weren't the best team that year as well.
|2 years 39 weeks ago||This may come off harsh.||
Your entire post is "I'm mentally weak." I mean, it really is... You're against a playoff because it means the best team is more likely to win and an unworthy Michigan team may not be able to sneak into the National Championship. And because if that team is worthy, you don't want to deal with the emotions if they lose because it's more difficult when your team is the higher seed.
None the less... what about the inverse? I mean, you're right that losing sucks, there really isn't much debate about that. But winning is pretty awesome too. And while losing as the higher seed also really sucks... winning as the underdog is really awesome as well.
So if a Michigan team gets that 4th seed and ends up winning the NC, what's going to be your argument then?
Also, saying I told you so if one of your scenarios happens doesn't really make much sense...
|2 years 40 weeks ago||Yup||
Women aren't Men. Double standards in many situations exist for a reason... there is no reason for a man to put his hands on a woman in anytype of aggressive fashion. I don't care what the relationships are between the two.. coach/athlete wife/husband boss/employee... it doesn't matter. A man doesn't put his hands on a woman.
So yes, while this is a double standard that if a man was in the same situation it would be viewed drastically differently, there is a very valid reason for that.

|2 years 42 weeks ago||Agreed||
I thought the same thing when I saw the figure. I was honestly expecting something atleast at 65% or higher based on the majority of things i've been seeing PSU fans say.
I would be very interested to see how this compares to what the rest of the country thinks too. I think it would still be a pretty decent difference in the results, but not like I originally would have thought by anymeans.

|2 years 46 weeks ago||The line vs the fight.||
I'm one of those types that buy into the thought that Silva was pretty injured going into their last fight which was the prime reason that Silva flat out got beat up. At the end of the day I really think that Silva is a far better fighter than Sonnen. I think that Sonnen looked pretty flat against Bisping (I personally had Bisping winning that one, but understood why Sonnen took the decision.) I'm also still wary about sonnen's submission defense... as Silva's camp kept saying on the preview show... he did get beat up, and he still won the fight. In a 25 minute fight it's pretty easy to imagine a scenario where Sonnen's focus slips for a few seconds again.
So... for the fight I really do think that Silva will win. However it's pretty tough to pass up a +255 line on sonnen. Not to mention... I'm one of those idiots that kinda like Sonnen's act.... and I also wouldn't mind seeing Silva finally lose.
|2 years 50 weeks ago||Hmm||
With how hard we hit Tebow that game... he probably doesn't remember how that season ended either.

62.5% completion percentage
2570 Passing Yards (8.8 ypa)
1702 Rushing Yards (6.6 ypc)
32 Total TDs.
We all know he was the offense last year. I can't think of any other season where we depended so much on a single player, and have that player produce anywhere close to the way Denard did.

All the schools are located in the subs of Cinnci.

"but where else do you see men and women playing organized sports together besides college rec sports?"
A TON of high school sports have mixed teams because the high school doesn't offer the sport for girls or vice versa. |3 years 1 week ago||Wait||
How in the world are their views NOT archaic and stupid? Stating that women shouldn't play sports with men is without any question Archaic and it's also very stupid.
|3 years 3 weeks ago||Easy||
I honestly haven't heard too many OSU fans use the excuse that they didn't have the talent last year. But just because some of their fans may say that doesn't in-turn mean it's accurate or true.
They go 6-7 because their coach was suddenly fired/resigned, had multiple suspensions, and being more or less forced to start a true freshman QB. Playing uninspired almost lazy football. Not to mention Luke Fickell may not have been the greatest coach in the world.
Take a gander at their roster and their incoming recruits and decide for yourself if you really think that the talent needs to magically appear or not.
|3 years 3 weeks ago||Talent||
I'm going to speculate that it's because of a few different reasons. First, the talent is still there. They've had a great class last year to follow up years of great classes. Second, I think a lot of people are just writing off last season because of the turmoil that happened, the suspensions, and the sudden coaching change. And third they brought in a coach that has a very solid history.
Add those three things together and it's not that difficult to see why many think OSU are still going to be a powerhouse.

|3 years 17 weeks ago||Uhh no||
The choice of a High School kid does not in-turn give fans the right to be angry at him. Disappointed he didn't pick their school? Of course. Angry or upset? Hell no, it's the kids choice and they have no right to get angry at him for it.
Any fan who is angry at Garnett for his choice simply needs to grow the fuck up.

If you're "in the know" or not the article is a pretty basic recuriting article. There is no mention at all about sparty "Going national" (and I kinda wish that line would die already. MSU fans aren't making that claim anymore I haven't seen one make it in awhile) It's simply an article about what's going on and who they are chasing... nothing more
And the reason why there wasn't any mention about UM is because Meyer literally just got a commited recurit from MSU. There is a direct reason for a reporter to ask that exact question. Talking about Michigan recuriting when nothing on that front has really changed would be pointless and pretty random.
I was hoping for a MSU Recuriting article that I could actually poke fun at. All I got was a basic MSU Recuriting article... I am disappoint.

|3 years 36 weeks ago||No||
No, that's not really what happened. the NCAA saw that OSU players took a small amount of money from a booster, OSU properly made the playings ineligable and notified the NCAA. And then the NCAA turned around and applied the same type of ruling and punishment that they have been.
The NCAA is indeed a joke, but this isn't an example of it.
|3 years 36 weeks ago||Sorry||
Sorry, but implying that one of the key Reasons for the decline in Notre Dame football being "They're letting black people play now." is racist.
That's not a knee jerk reaction, amd that's not preventing people from having an intelligent conversation on the topic (Although, I feel as though you'll struggle greatly to have an actual intelligent conversation on that topic.)
|3 years 36 weeks ago||Curious||
What are the intresting points that you feel could really use some honest discussion?
|3 years 38 weeks ago||I misread the post I was responding too||
Which makes my post seem far far more apologetic and "it's OK' then I meant it too.
I am not, in any way, saying that it's OK to kick someone in the head when they are subdued, even if they attacked you first.
Nor am I saying a single thing about this being OK in the terms of self defense... it's not.
What I was trying to explain and say was, in the heat of the moment, when you're emotions are running high, and after someone just attacked you that you're not necessarily in a clear state of mind. It's not that you're trying to be a huge douche and kicking someone when you're down, you're simpling far more fired up, and not thinking clear headed, and you end up doing something you normally wouldn't do (e.g. Kicking someone in the head.)
I wasn't, and I'm not, trying to remove any guilt from the situation. (And no, I've never kicked someone when they were down :) But I have gone on tilt in my life.)
|3 years 38 weeks ago||Sorry||
Sorry, I'm not buying it. I don't disagree that when you're in a clear frame of mind with no emotions, yeah you wouldn't kick someone when they go down.
However, in the heat of the moment... I don't buy most people would actually be thinking that way (Some without question would). When your emotions are running high after being attacked first, you easily will do something that you would never think you would do otherwise. And kicking someone in the head after they go down isn't really a rare sight to see in those situations.
Now, I understand that Football players are different, they are held to a different standard, and they have to not let their emotions get the best of them. And I'm also not trying to pull a "blame the victim" here either. But I'm not going to feel bad for the guy getting his head kicked in, nor do I think that JJ really did something that horridly wrong.
|3 years 39 weeks ago||Yea||
I don't doubt for a second that they'll likely mention it. But I see them giving the "best LB class in the nation" to Alabama right now.
|3 years 39 weeks ago||Because||
Because the two situations are still drastically different. What's been dug up on OSU is really nothing to what was going on at Miami over the past 9 years.
Sure there may be more evidence against OSU that hasn't been turned up, and maybe the actual situation there is as bad as it is in Miami. (I doubt it). But the accusations and evidence in Miami's situation is far far greather than that against OSU. That's why you see it as a possibility for Miami, but not one for OSU.

|3 years 43 weeks ago||gunner||
gunner isnt the overall #1 recruit in the country. just the #1 overall qb.
|3 years 43 weeks ago||Well, Technically our head coach is a "Walmart Wolverine"||
Brady Hoke grew up as a fan of Michigan, never attended the school, and was simply a good enough coach to end up coaching here in the 90's, and of course again now.
If he wasn't a good enough coach, he'd be in the same seat as anyone else who never attended Michigan. So if it's OK for him to be one (and, technically, Bo, Gary and Lloyd) I don't see any reason why any fan can't be one.
|3 years 43 weeks ago||Not worried at all||
Huge difference between several players transfering, a few saying very unpleasent things on the way out, and a few Medical Hardships and an un-enrolled incoming freshman.
I really don't see any reason at all to worry.
|3 years 43 weeks ago||An oversite||
The official roster usually is the better one to go by. :D
|3 years 43 weeks ago||Well||
When compared to OSU... yeah, it's currently far more stable.
At the end of the year, we know who our Head Coach is still going to be, and odds are the majority of the assitants will still be around as well. Now, if we compare that to OSU... well, there is a very different situation going on. We don't know who the head coach is going to be at the end of the year, and because of that we don't know which, if any, of the assistant coaches will be there next year as welll.
So, while Michigan's head coaching staff isn't as stable as say Oklahoma or Alabama... it is currently far more stable than OSU's
|3 years 44 weeks ago||I know exactly what java is||
Just because something was written in java doesn't mean it's written to compromise every OS it can. it just means it can potentially be executed on any machine that has Java also installed on it.
There is a huge huge difference there, and trying to imply that a virus can be written in java, and in-turn infect any OS on the market is either misleading, or ignorant.
|3 years 44 weeks ago||Intresting||
Intresting break down, and I don't think too many people would ever disagree that football players are without question some of the world fastest.
That being said, there is a DRASTIC sprinting difference between a 100m dash and a 40 yard dash. Comparing the two is just going to give misleading results.

Symantic = Norton :)
|3 years 45 weeks ago||Luckily||
Luckily for us, no need to fall back onto anecdotal experiences.
Which shows that Norton is pretty much spot on even with BitDefender. McAfee... yeah, not so much :) (Norton made a complete 180 a few years ago. It's extremely solid now.)
|3 years 45 weeks ago||Actually no||
Based on Brian's post later in the thread. This has nothing to do with the Ads... it's a direct site compromise.
|3 years 45 weeks ago||Huh?||
Yeah... why do you think that Mac and Linux users are not immune? Unless the trojan is cross-platform (it's not) it's going to affect Windows users only.
Also, just because something was written/expoits java, or uses an Adobe exploit doesn't mean that Linux and Mac are also at risk by anymeans. It just means if those OSes also had the exploit that they could be at risk for being compromised using that exploit, if someone wrote something specifically for their OS.
|3 years 46 weeks ago||well||
For a D1 prospect thats still in high school developing... yeah, its pretty unrealistic to get upset about a 4.7 40 timing.
|3 years 46 weeks ago||Yeah, still not wrong.||
The two examples you gave had nothing to do with the NCAA Enforcing the rule, simply the universities preventing students from doing something.
There is a huge difference between those two things.
|3 years 46 weeks ago||I didn't||
I didn't see any signs of bots being used last night. The vote total was only around 132K at that point. When the bots came into play that shot into the millions like before.
|3 years 46 weeks ago||To be honest||
It doesn't really matter. At the end of the day it's a rule that the NCAA would never actually enforce. Fans tweeting people and messaging people on facebook is not something they have the time, money or energy to deal with. People can mesage away and the university isn't going to get in any type of trouble until something involving dollar bills comes into play.
All that being said, it's still creepy and people shouldn't do it.
|3 years 47 weeks ago||I don't think||
I don't think the Cam Newton thing was really Gruden catching him flat footed or anything like that. It's simply the system that Auburn runs. Pretty difficult to talk about calling out a long verbage play in the huddle when you don't huddle and your plays are all numbers. Seriously, Auburns plays are formation + a number, so Trips Right 36... that's an actual complex passing play for them that could easily be 10+ words in other offenses.
I personally thought that Pryor looked by far, not even close, the worse out of anyone that has been on the show.

I think you guys are greatly over valuing what he really is going to get out of broadcasting games. It's not going to give him any type of realistic advantage over the competition.
What scenario do you think is better for the following year... studying the film, actively producing a gameplan against the team, and then coaching your players on how to play against said team.
or... broadcasting the game in which those two teams play.
It really isn't even close.
|3 years 49 weeks ago||Depends||
If the attorney's story checks out (I'm skeptical) I don't think it changes much if anything.
If the story doesn't check out, he's done.
|3 years 50 weeks ago||Doesn't really matter||
There have been tons of former players who won't work with the NCAA. They have no requirement or obligation to do so. The NCAA isn't going to hold those actions against the University itself as it also has nothing to do with the University.
The USC case was a big deal because USC wasn't helping out the NCAA at all, they weren't opening their doors and showing their books and making it clear to the NCAA that they weren't doing anything wrong. They gave no assitance what so ever and simply made it difficult for the NCAA to investigate.
|3 years 50 weeks ago||There is||
There is a drastic difference between a former player not cooperating with the NCAA and the University itself not cooperating.
|3 years 50 weeks ago||Without knowing the sanctions||
Without knowing the sanctions OSU is going to be hit with, all High Profile Coach speculation is idiotic and a huge waste of time.
No big name coach is going to go to OSU until they know what they are actually getting themselves into.
|3 years 51 weeks ago||Yeah, about that.||
Where did you prove me wrong again? Simply saying that the NCAA, OSU, OSU'S AD, and OSU'S Football Team are "businesses" doesn't prove anything, and doesn't suddenly make your comparison any more valid.
You're still comparing two drastically different situations with very, very little in common.
|3 years 51 weeks ago||College Football||
The business anaologies are horrible. They don't fit with the current situation at all and greatly weaken the argument you're trying to make. The dynamics of running and managing an office of professionals is nothing like the dynamics of running and manging a college football team. You're comparing apples to oranges.
