...don't you have to sit out a year after transferring? Seriously though, this is a wonderful thing. A Michigan degree is respected the world round. |

...yes. Never thought I had a chance. Figured I was destined to be a Sparty. The day I got the acceptance letter was the best day of my life. Except for when my kids were born. |

...is behind both Maryland and Rutgers? Ouch. Also, Illinois looks like it has a decent class. On second look it just seems to be a lot of two and three star guys. |

Brian Kelly has always been good at gettin' out while the gettin' is good. He leaves Grand Valley after going 28-1 over two seasons. He leaves Central after going 9-4 (7-1 in the MAC). He leaves Cincinnati after going 12-0. Seems perfectly reasonable to assume he leaves Notre Dame after going 12-1 |

...is the best I've ever seen. And I saw the 89 National Champion and the Fab Five teams. This team has more depth, better shooting, more versatility, better coaching and the best point guard in the nation. This team may disappoint not getting to the Final Four but there is a certain amount of luck getting that far. But they sure do have the whole package. |

| 22 weeks 3 days ago | What A Great Story! |
I've read about his accomplishments as a student and we have all been witness to his skills on the football field, as I'm sure Manti Te'o can testify. But on top of that he is a great human being. People like Patrick make me proud to be a Michigan alum. |

Though the last line was unintentionally funny. After all the behavior described only when the the poor fellow pulled a dollar out of his wallet did they think he had "completely lost it." |

...that Franklin gets overlooked at Maryland? He's doing a great job at Vandy. If he passes on the inevitable "big time" offers and hangs around Nashville there is a good chance Vandy can be the the southern version of Stanford. I would LOVE to see the day Franklin beats up on Saban or Miles. |

As I have stated on this august blog before: Ben Braden will have a 10+ year career playing on Sunday. |
| 47 weeks 3 days ago | Wasn't Going To Be Perfect? |
Yikes! That is the understatement of the year. But it is so far from perfect it strains belief. Wetzel's best point was imagining someone going into Roger Goodell's office and proposing the NFL outsource the AFC and NFC title games. Yet that is what the NCAA is doing. So some middle men buddies get to rake millions off the top? And kick back a good portion to the very people who set this playoff system up? I've never been an advocate of providing stipends to players but I'm starting to think differently. |

...and do I think they are above it? Hardly. Rivals and the others have created an industry out of thin air and it works due to drama. They won't go over the top and harm their credibility but some tinkering by adjusting the rankings to slightly downgrade committed and upgrade uncommitted prospects sure rings my conspiracy theory chimes. |
| 1 year 1 week ago | If I were an OSU fan... |
...or a State fan I'd be pretty pleased. I think my frustration level would be highest if I were an Illinois fan. Never has the potential for so much come to so little. I can not for the life of me understand why they can never get out of their own way in football. The state has 12 million people and the in-state competition is Northwestern. And yet Wisconsin and Iowa, to name an inauspicious two, have routinely better programs. Illinois should have its pick of recruits in greater Chicago but it seems the best of Chicago goes elsewhere. |

...He better learn the outfield. The Tigers have big money long term deals in place at first and third.

Along with everyone else I enjoyed a good laugh when I heard about John L becoming Head Coach at Arkansas. Guffaws aside, what was the Arkansas AD supposed to do? You can't get a top notch coach in April. You're stuck with what you have. John L was on the staff, knows the coaches and players, has been a Head Coach and can handle the media (though how well I wonder). The coordinators can continue to coordinate, Arkansas gets through the season and then hires a long term solution. Bonus: John L may slap his QB at a post game presser. |
