I was at a recognition luncheon for the hospital I used to work at, and a friend sent me a text message during that lunch. It was a very sad moment for me, and I'm not ashamed to admit I teared up at that.
As for good tears? Probably The Game, 1997 and Henne to Manningham against Penn State in 2005.
There, I said it-I like the blue on blue, and the maize shoes are pretty sweet. The numbers are okay...and I think these unis (which they'll only wear once, it's an alternate) will look pretty sweet under the lights. Judging by the reaction video, the players seem to love it too. Works for me.
After thinking about this for a bit, this is pretty much the only game I could choose...and what a game it was. Last game in the student section (as a student, anyway), knowing exactly what was at stake...can't really top it. Woke up to a very cold and snowy morning (although most of it had melted by the time we got into the stadium), and this game just felt electric from the word go. Like Brian said, you could feel the excitement and tension kind of ease up just a little bit once we were up 20-0, and then start to creep back up again once the bucks tried to come back. I absolutely loved the moment Marcus Ray blew up David Boston...and then getting to rush the field at the end and celebrate with some of my closest friends capped what was an amazing Saturday.
Graduation was especially sweet a few months later, when not only did I get to see a National Championship for football, but also got to get to see one for hockey too when Red and the Wolverines knocked off BC in Boston. What an awesome senior year!
...watch that 3-pointer for days. Man-oh-man, I've seen some crazy games in my time but this one has to be my favorite. Way to keep on fighting-I love Muppets!
Seeing muppets in an MGoBlog post is always a good thing, and wielded at the appropriate times-never gets old!
Loved seeing sad Sparties (I really wish this game didn't fall during break) walk out too...they looked like they still couldn't believe Trey Burke just made Appling look silly the last minute. Great day!
Not even a discussion: a win over a hated rival seems like grounds for muppets to me. Lost my voice by early 2nd half, what a fun time-worth the hour drive and short night of sleep to see OHIO BEATEN!
Ugh, I was really hoping for a better ending than the one he (and the team) got. Unheralded and an unknown coming in, he was clutch time and again for the Maize & Blue. He's easily one of my all-time players to ever play here, and I wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors.
