Just to give an example, if you have a train going at .8 times the speed of light, and then relative to that train there is another one going at .6 times the speed of light faster, then the speed of the faster train is calculated as (.8+.6)/(1+.8*.6) the speed of light, , which is 1.4/1.48 times the speed of light, and no matter what numbers you plug in the result is always less than 1 times the speed of light. The reason that at low speeds if you are going at 10 mph and someone is going at 20 mph relative to you, then there final speed ends up being 30 mph because the denominator is practically exactly equal to the speed of light.
We actually often share fields for practice, especially during the winter when it's harder to get practice time, however there is very little interaction between the teams except for maybe a couple scrimmages or social events
For those too lazy to click through, the relevant pools are
Michigan A (1), Illinois State (8), Eastern Illinois (12), Loyola-Chicago (13)
Michigan B (14), Northwestern (2), Michigan State (7), Kentucky (11)
Others of note is Notre Dame as the 4 seed and EMU as the 5 seed
MagnUM is the favorite by a decent margin, and should have very little trouble going undefeated in the group stage.
I'm on reserve and we play our first match against MSU on saturday, so we're hoping to make a pretty big upset to start the tournament, and we definitely can considering only 3 or 4 players aren't going (for most tournaments this year, its been 10-15 out of 29 or something usually)
I think 5th, but I'm not sure, I know theyve been national runnerups before, they actually place much better than the men's team in general, but MagnUM has had a surge recently
We call ourselves Reserve, but I'm not sure about MSU's B team.
We usually either share a field with MagnUM or B-Fly (women's B team), but our practices are separate. The only times we really practice together are at the beginning of the year during tryouts, and then maybe a scrim or two throughout the year.
Also some results from the past two years, At regionals, MagnUM has placed 2nd and 1st (losing to illinois in 2013) and they have their nationals placement that people mentioned above, while Reserve has finished 8th and 10th out of 16 teams total (outplacing Notre Dame, Purdue and Kentucky's A teams in 2013 and Indiana's in 2014 among a bunch of other less notable teams).
Hey guys I'm on magnum reserve (basically the b team) and we placed 3rd at a tournament this weekend, losing to Ohio university and Marquette (their a teams I think, not 100% sure tho) but beating the Msu b team (13-2!!)
I don't have enough points to make a new thread but I got this link from someone, not sure how legitimate the source is but I would be happy to have him as a coach. One thing to note is that he apparently turned down the Texas job and said he wanted to retire as UCLA's coach.
If you attend AAPS you should also get like a 700$ discount or something like that. I took multivariable at EMU in high school (no good times at UM), and the total cost of the class was like 1300 or something but my school covered about half of it
