Turning down a bowl bid is stupid when it comes with 15 practice days.
|6 hours 59 min ago||I've heard that same rumour.||
I've heard that same rumour. My cousin works in the Michigan athletic department and says that the next coach is going to be John Harbaugh.
|7 hours 9 min ago||Yes they screw up just as||
Yes they screw up just as much as we do and the only reason why the concussion thing is so big is because of the way DB and Hoke handled it by stepping on their dicks like they do with everything. I hope that their stadium gets hit with a meteor on game day but this thread isn't really relevant on mgoblog.

I didn't say he was bad at Arizona. I said he was mediocre which he is. Do you even watch their games. They almost lost to UTSA and Cal. They went 8-5 the past two years.
|8 hours 30 min ago||and if we go 2-10 with Nuss,||
and if we go 2-10 with Nuss, players quit, all of our recruits decommit. Then we've just built ourselves a bigger hole for the next guy.

RR is mediocre at Arizona.
|8 hours 36 min ago||The fact that you'd still||
The fact that you'd still have the head coach there that recruited them for 2 months to make his pitch for them to stay at Michigan vs. no one. It's a lot easier to go 2 weeks without a head guy in december than to fire him now plus you could lose the team and players could quit. I'd rather we just keep him if we're not going to be good anyways.
|8 hours 43 min ago||There's just no upside to||
There's just no upside to firing a head coach halfway through the season. It would be a free for all for our recruits and you wouldn't gain anything. You won't be able to hire a HC until December anyways. As for AD, it should happen pretty soon to control the damage and get ready for the huge hire of the head coach.
|8 hours 45 min ago||Definitely the order and||
Definitely the order and combo I want. At this point I'm not sure there is any downside to firing both of them. We'd still have Stephen Ross. It's not like he didn't donate before Brandon. Also, Al Glick donated a buttload for our state of the art indoor practice facility when we had Martin and the Wilpons donated for the baseball/softball complex.

We don't need Brandon and his marketing to pay top dollar for a coach. Bama doesn't have 1940s era plane flyovers, Beyonce, clowniforms, macaroni noodles and they're doing fine. As for ticket prices, I'd gladly pay 90 dollars per game if that's what it took to get Harbaugh.
|9 hours 58 min ago||Pro style isn't really 1970s||
Pro style isn't really 1970s when so many teams run it. The play calls are though. I'd take a pro style coach because switching back to spread would be brutal.

Michigan could get option A if they really tried. We're were stuck thinking that a coach must have ties to the university and we shouldn't pay more than 3 million for him even when other schools were offering 5 million for coaches who were the best at their jobs. Anyone could see how that would fail 10 years ago before it happened
|11 hours 27 min ago||That sounds like something||
That sounds like something MSU fans would say. We were one of the best teams in college football from 1969-2007. We're not just a program that won in the 1940s and 1920s.

UCLA was 4-8 and 6-8 before Mora. There is an upward trajectory in Los Angeles.
|12 hours 1 min ago||Well Alabama is in the top 5||
Well Alabama is in the top 5 and they currently have the largest salary of a coach anywhere. Texas was prepared to offer Saban 10 million a year to coach there and they are kind of like us in that they are a great academic institution. Harvard's athletic department is about 1 percent of what Texas, Michigan, and Alabama are. Academic money isn't going to be spent on athletics at any university. We have the money, we have the facilities, we have a foundation in young players with talent who aren't being coached up well for a new coach. It's time we use our advantages instead of half assing it like we did our last two searches.
|12 hours 16 min ago||The only university that has||
The only university that has more money than us per forbes is Texas, Alabama, and surpisingly Wisconsin. UCLA isn't even in the top 25.
|12 hours 22 min ago||Is the Michigan job really||
Is the Michigan job really that bad? Sure we haven't done well but we are top 5 nationally in money we have, facilities, a weak conference which makes winning easier, and some talent on the team. A new coach walking in would have Peppers, Bolden, Deveon Smith/Isaac/Weber, possibly Funchess, and Butt. That could be a great foundation for a coach who wants to build something.
|12 hours 26 min ago||It looks like Mora only makes||
It looks like Mora only makes 3 million a year which would make it much easier to sway him than other coaches.
|12 hours 31 min ago||I still think that Nuss could||
I still think that Nuss could be good but I would have had some reservations about making him head coach even before the season since he had never been a HC before and was only at Bama for 2 years. However I thought he was a home run OC hire since he did well with Smoker/Stanton at MSU, Price at Washington and Mccaron at Alabama. If we're going to hire an Alabama assistant it should be Kirby Smart.

|12 hours 42 min ago||Eh. Recruiting stars matter||
Eh. Recruiting stars matter and coaching matters too. I don't think Alabama would be where they are now without the Dashawn Hands of the world. We have the talent at least on defense. There's no way that the Minnesota game should have finished 30-14. A winning coach puts in his best qb instead of the backup qb because that's what the fans wanted at the time. That's a game management issue and then you get to the offensive coaching up issues such as fundamentals on the OL etc. I think we have done a better job on the defensive end and that our defense would be much better if we had Peppers and Taylor back there all year and the unit wasn't constantly being put in bad positions with turnovers.
|12 hours 49 min ago||Hell yeah. It's a pride||
Hell yeah. It's a pride thing. They could be losing every game 84-0 and I'd still go. It's a pride thing. The players deserve our support. We need to show the country we're not quitters. Didn't Nebraska sell out every game during Callahan? Lets at least do something right and keep the 100K streak.
|12 hours 56 min ago||It's just my opinion but I||
It's just my opinion but I think Les Miles was riding Nick Saban's coattails at LSU. They won the championship in 2007 and had a good season in 2012 but were clearly outcoached in the championship.

They sure didn't look the # 9 team against Syracuse.

and 3 days until Michigan defeats Rutgers. Believe in the players, fire Dave and Hoke.
|13 hours 7 min ago||If Malzahn really makes 3.85||
If Malzahn really makes 3.85 million, you could throw 5.5-6 million at him plus he'd be leaving Alabama's shadow to be the king of the big ten.

Wearing orange or red is stupid when your colors are maize and blue.
|1 day 8 hours ago||Are we going to have trouble||
Are we going to have trouble financially if we fire Brandon and Hoke at the same time? That's a lot of buyouts and the new coach might have to make 6-7 million a year. Add that on top of Rick Bennett or Mel Pearson replacing Berenson and that's a lot.
|1 day 8 hours ago||I get what he's saying I||
I get what he's saying I think. At least for me, I want DB and BH fired to return us to glory. However, we still need to go to the games, support the team, and we shouldn't stop going just because the team is bad.
