I'm definitely in favor of keeping the blog classy. I do feel like you're dodging the key question though: will we eventually get OSU and even Iowa UFRs over the next few weeks?
Also, people will probably mind moody posts less if you put a disclaimer at the top of the post stating that you're unusually outraged or numb about something. A little warning goes a long way.

The line of scrimmage bit made me laugh while also making me feel sad, which takes some skill to pull off. Thank you for that.

I think we should have won TUS. Northwestern's loss was a dagger to the heart continuing a series of losses while our loss was a Robocop-esque annihilation that cost us the division, most of our superiority complex, and any optimism about our offense. (I'm referring to what happened to Alex Murphy.)

Frankly, Will Ferrell is unimpressive in any starring role except for Talladega Nights (which actually deserves the praise that Anchorman gets). He's best as an unhinged side character. I was unimpressed by the smoking crack (spoiler!) in the trailer... hopefully the gags will be better on average in the actual movie.

I definitely agree. The "Urban Meyer connection" is a red herring to generate more pageviews and incite the masses. It's a bit depressing to see people gloat over this just because the coach of our biggest rival was mentioned in a negative light.

A job gives you a salary. Losing money over time while being in college and having a 40 hour/week activity on top of classes is not the same thing. You sound like survival is a privilege, but I bet you'd be throwing a hissy fit if you even got paid only as much as an English teacher. The fact is, your education has less value the more time you have to spend paying for it, because you have less time to study and pump up your GPA.
Feel free to never ask for a raise or try to improve your life (even though you are), but don't complain when others do.

I find it interesting that New York got bailed out by the federal government in the 70s, yet I haven't heard a thing about federal assistance for Detroit. I'm not saying Detroit deserves federal assistance to pay their debts, but it is a sign of different times...
Interesting how over a million people left New York before they got their bailout and the city was widely regarded as being in decline. It's a shame that they never ever recovered.

Harvard is not strong in engineering. I also think that a self-motivated person who intends to attend grad school will probably be better off without being $100,000 in debt, since the top students at good (and not-so-good) universities will get into the top grad schools without going to Harvard or MIT. As an example, one person in the Chemistry graduate department at my current school, which is ranked ~6, went to Eastern Michigan for undergrad.
There are definite advantages to being a big shot at a lower-ranked school; professors will want you to do research for them, you'll be "the smart person", and you'll be able to focus more on getting a high GPA in your major. The trick is that you need that high GPA and some good involvement to really stand out.
All that being said, Harvard is a better choice than Michigan for most majors at the same cost, but standing out at either school is more important than the choice of school.

He committed at the end of April and Alabama is still recruiting him. Why is he not allowed to be irritated that they won't leave him alone? It would be in bad taste if he flushed the letter during a committment ceremony, but once he's picked his school, coaches should know that recruiting him comes with some risk.
|29 weeks 2 days ago||Well, if you have more||
Well, if you have more qualified students interested in your school than you can accept, raising tuition is quite doable. If you are currently accepting the maximum number of out of state students that are qualified, raising tuition will drive some of them away. I don't consider it 100% causality, but there's an effect there.
In other words, raising tuition tends to decrease enrollment in a vacuum; getting more students to pay more tuition is due to some outside factor (possibly named Nick Saban).

Why are people bashing the West division... All that division has done is contain 3/4 of the all the Big Ten title attendees. The teams of the West division contained a top ten team in the majority of years over the last decade anyway (exceptions: 2005, 2007, 2008, 2012). Also, in 2007, 2008, and 2012, the presumed title game attendees from the West (Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska) beat the top eligible team from the East (OSU,PSU, Michigan) during the regular season. (Yes, I'm aware Nebraska and Michigan were in the same division last year; I'm talking about the future East-West split.)
Yay Big Two, Little Twelve and all that, but maybe we should go to and win a B10 title game before talking trash.
Also, Michigan has now missed out on being the division mentioned in its fight song twice in a row (Leaders, then West).

It's hardly hurtful to have someone correct a grammatical mistake, whether it was due to ignorance or not. Developing good writing habits comes in handy when making an impression on potential employers, among many other things. I don't see why this correction is unjust.

Er, I think Maryland will be fighting them for being the punchline of the division. Your comment works for the Big Ten but not the B1G Ten.

Thanks for the link. I wasn't thrilled by the first sentence, but other than that it was an interesting read. It really doesn't sound like 10 home games will happen, and he was very open that seven home games were a requirement to make the economics work.
I wish there were somewhat tougher questions though, but you can't have everything. 11W is constrained by being an enemy site, and is thus required to be rather restrained to not seem partisan.
