You're right statisically but wrong in reality. Kane is ISU's best player. Niang was probably the second most important. Ejim is productive but he isn't a mathup nightmare like Niang and Kane.

He must have something going for him if they voted that and the twosie and some other things he has done were funny but I was sick of his talking the talk and seemingly not leading by the end of the year. It will be a loss but I really have no feeling on him not being around anymore.

MSU isn't getting through Cinci, Virginia, Nova/ISU. 2-1 in that stretch would be very very good during a season. 2-1 doesn't get your through. I think they lose to ISU. ISU and Michigan are similar in the aspect that they can flat out get buckets. They do it different, but they score. I just don't think MSU can handle everything ISU can do. FWIW, I have a Michigan/ISU rematch for the Championship.

For my own personal satisifaction, I would like to know when every message board poster will understand that "spread" is not an offensive system and there are multiple ways to run spread offenses. Can someone tell me when that time will come because this is getting ridiuclous.

It was mostly like I expected. I expected nothing that elevated the series and essentially what I got was that. This show was weird for me. It wasn't excited. It didn't leave me waiting a week to see what happened next. What it was was probably some of the most intense TV I have ever watched. There were some hangers but not like Breaking Bad or Prison Break or other shows like that. It was just great TV in general.
There was a poitn in the show where I thought we would find out Rust was somehow involved. I never expected before last night but last night I had a feeling that could happen, though it didn't and I'm glad it didn't.
Also, McConaughey is going to sweep TV and movie awards this year. What a year. I watch DBC this weekend as well and what a great job by him.

This is probably the best piece I've ever read here. Well done.

As far as writing and acting, while only being one season and much easier, this show rivals Breaking Bad in terms of how intense it is. Remember when everyone made fun of MM? Not after this show and Dallas Buyer's Club. The guy has just been phenomenal. This isn't probably as fun to watch as BB but it's every bit as intense which is type of show I like.
I have no idea what the ending will be. I do have a question: Was that guy in the gas mask with the machete supposed to be Ledoux? Did I miss something there?

They aren't really hard to figure out. They lost two competitive games to Kansas and lost two competitive games on the road against Texas and Oklahoma. They beat KSU, Michigan, Baylor and Iowa. No bad losses, No great wins but some good ones. The schedule eases significantly now with KU out of the way and away games against just OkSt and KSU. They probably project to be a 6-7 loss team with a decent chance at just 5 losses.

I'm guessing Hoke informed Borges that he wouldn't be retained awhile ago and just didn't announce it. That happens quite a bit.

Baylor doesn't run their QB much. It's a throwers paradise. Petty has one more year them Hackenberg could play.
That said, it makes no sense not to go to class and give the new guy a shot in the spring.

Yeah, Oregon had two bad performances. We had about 10.

I saw the Zook tweet and I was like "Ha, stupid." Then I was like "Holy shit that may not be far off."
|16 weeks 1 day ago||So let's look at non freshmen||
So let's look at non freshmen this staff has touched so we don't really know anything about their career arc:
Have gotten better:
Schofield, Morgan, Taylor, Wilson, Gordon(2), Clark, Ross, Ryan, Van Bergan, Roh, FLOYD, Cambell, Gallon, Lewan (destined),
Have not gotten better:
Toussaint (First he's a RB who often are what they are when they come in and two, system), Denard (system), Kovacs (how much better could he actually get?) Roundtree, Miller, Bryant(injury)
So I went into making that list pretty open minded but I can't find guys that were inexplicably not better. I mean, the guys that didn't get better individually were largely on offense and that had as much to do with system as anything. Now, I question what the offensive line will develop like but I'm not going to jump on a bunch of freshmen. If you look at a guy like Schofield, he got better so I won't bail on them just yet.
The OP is disingenuous which is why I negged it. Spielman didn't really say what the OP claimed he said. He said something very basic and very true. He didn't say Hoke did a poor job of anything.

I'm with this guy. I mean I have seen it mentioned that he was done but was there any post about this or anything because I must have missed it.

It's unfathomable to me that 5 years of free schooling is no longer considered compensation. I suppose though, they aren't there to play school.
|18 weeks 4 days ago||That's exactly what it is.||
That's exactly what it is. The only way to moderate in any form has been to comment. I'm not a fan of negging just because you disagree with a simple opinion but at least with that, threads don't degrade to a pissing match between people, suck in more people, and become some sort of internet brawl with 50 useless comments. It was just a much cleaner way of saying either that you disagreed or that the comment was out of line.

It was the best game I had seen all year at the time. Then I watched Bama/Auburn and the ISU/WVU game and it became third.

He won 7 games in year three and was improving.
|21 weeks 2 days ago||I highly doubt it. This||
I highly doubt it. This Michigan team is soft with the exception of McGary. Also, by the end of the year a loss to ISU isn't going to look very bad at all.
|21 weeks 5 days ago||I saw that earlier. Palo||
I saw that earlier. Palo isn't on the team anymore either. Also, Dorsey-Walker probably won't play much if the first couple games are any indicator.
|21 weeks 5 days ago||Well, I think ISU is close to||
Well, I think ISU is close to a top 25 team by the end of the year. It will be one of the toughest enviroments Michigan plays in so I expect it to be close throught. ISU basketball isn't even close to as bad as UCONN football.
|22 weeks 6 days ago||Jason Whitlock's a shock jock||
Jason Whitlock's a shock jock who writes. He throws a bunch of crap at the wall, hides behind it being an opinion, but states it as fact. How does he know anything about Morris? He takes some shots at some kids (Lewan probably deserves his) and moves on hoping people like us click, and we do, and he gets a job at ESPN. I cna't hink of a piece he's written, I've read, and come away with a different opinion. They're all the same, replace names with other names, give your HARD TAKE and sit back and get clicks. He's a junk journalist, pretty awful evaluator of football considering he played, and mostly full of shit.
The thing that irritated me the most was him talking about Hoke forgoing character in recruiting. All empirical evidence rips apart that statement.
|23 weeks 2 days ago||Turns out a large part of||
Turns out a large part of being a college coach is recruiting. Also, your point about the guys who play for him not being successful in college is actually in his favor isn't it? I mean, if they aren't successful NFL guys, he must have been doing something with them even the NFL guys can't.
|24 weeks 5 days ago||ISU's defense is not||
ISU's defense is not Indiana's on average, anyway. Last week, it was. And Michigan's offense is not Baylor's, on average.
|25 weeks 6 days ago||At some point in time I||
At some point in time I honestly expect to hear the words "decided schematic advantage" come out of his mouth. The guy sounds like Charlie Weis right now. He will not admit his failure and he refuses to look at how other teams counteract a loaded box when they don't have the line talent.
I'm an ISU fan as well. We have an awful offense as well though we do have less talent. The same struggles are happening on the line due to injury but as incompetant as our OC is, he has at least figured out that the way to counteract a bad line is not to bash into it. We run power to the outside, he's pulling all sort of linemen and throwing it outside as much as possible. The fact that a guy that coaching and fucking Michigan can't figure out easy ways to not only gain yards but change defenses is mind boggling. That alignment by Penn State is a slap in the face and if I were Borges I would be embarrassed and pissed of that a team shows that little respect for my intelligence by lining up with no one within 8 yards of my receivers.
The fact that he looks at a bubble screen as some pansy assed concept is grating. This isn't 1985. It isn't dick measuring contest to see who has the flatest forhead by the end of the game. This is modern day football which has chaged. Good lord the NFL throws bubble screens for crying out loud. Then you know what they do? They run bubble action and pop it over the top. It's not rocket science here and no, Borges, you are not smarter than everyone in the room. When you fail to acknowledge that you left yards out there on first downs, Heiko has you beat.
Sorry for my rant. I believe it's the cumulative effect of seeing my two teams sit in a wasteland of suck offensively when they should be undefeated if they had average offensive coordinators.
|28 weeks 6 days ago||I'd like to know where the||
I'd like to know where the one error is on this play. I mean you covered the fact that it's a very difficult adjustment for Kerridge to get to the preffered hole with the slant so I'm not sure who made an error outside of the bounce/not bounce. I just think this is UCONNs DC calling a perfect slent on the perfect play. If they aren't slanting, Glasgow whoops his guy, Kerridge crushes the MLB, 52 is in the wash and it's Toussaint vs safeties. I just think this is one of those plays where you just say we got beat schematically.
|29 weeks 10 hours ago||I don't disagree with you but||
I don't disagree with you but Fitz had nothing except a backside cut, which on an option play is not an option. DG has to keep that especially since there is no one outside of that DE. The DE had turned and that should have been enough of a commitment to get that read right. Kerridge has no chance there with two guys and everything is doomed if Fitz gets the ball. Sure, it's the difference between 0 and -2 yards but there was nothing there after DG gave.
|36 weeks 1 day ago||This is my time to shine.||
Being an ISU alum, I feel obligated to inform. These are throwbacks specifically tailored to a man named Jack Trice. Obviously, they play in Jack Trice stadium and it is the only D-1 stadium named after an African American. We are coming up on the 90th anniversary of his death which took place after a game in Minnesota. He was trampled by the MInnesota players and died days later from injuries sustained from that incident. It took 74 years to get his name on the stadium. I think the initial push was in the mid 70s but it never actually happened until 1997. We seem to like the uniforms as a fanbase but we did wish there wasn't the number rule because I think a gold small number like Michigan had would look better but the rules are the rules. I just thought I would jump in and give this some historical perspective. These aren't just for the hell of it and I think the University is really trying to push this because there is a significant story.

Yeah, who cares? No one. 9 teams in bowl games right? I think that's right. Yes, the top 6 of the SEC, year in and year out is untouchable, however beyond that, they are average. People also forget that Texas stood a good chance of defeating Bama until Colt McCoy was hurt. They still made that a game.
