If the score ends up the same this year, it's a "great game" and a "fierce battle between the best defenses in college football."
|17 hours 36 min ago||Well||
If anyone has a right to bitch about selective enforcement, it's Tark. The NCAA was on him like a rottie on raw meat for having the nerve to succeed at UNLV.
|17 hours 39 min ago||I love it||
It's just proof that Wiscy is so irrelevant that they can't understand why a football coach would be worth what Harbaugh or Meyer is being paid.

When ESPN was pretty much the "only game in town" for sports news all day, I used to watch it a lot. But the internet age and the more focused channels such as BTN or the Golf Network have made me pretty much lose interest in ESPN. Worse yet, turning First Take into a Stephen A Smith/Skip Bayless circle jerk has made them lose all credibility as a "news" source.

That ND fan shouldn't be allowed to post in public. OTOH, THIS ND fan should be invited to MGoBlog:
"I feel like I'm locked in a 5 Stages of Grieving looped tape of Elizabeth Kubler-Ross and look around this small room with no window and no doors and Sartre taps out a message from an adjoining cell that reads "No...Exit."
People like this make internet communities a lot more fun...

After suffering through the self-destruction years, the media going "Harbaugh-insane" is not going to be anything remotely resembling "insufferable." If Michigan wins the next two games, I think "ecstatic" is going to be a much better description for the aftermath.
|2 days 11 hours ago||Apples and Oranges...||
The current situation is nothing like any of Rich Rod's teams. Harbaugh has the full resources of the University, its boosters and its ex-players behind him. He also inherited a roster that was recruited for the kind of ball he plays. There are also a significant number of upperclassmen on the roster.
If anything, Michigan could turn out to be underrated right now. If they win the next two, though, I have a feeling they will be ranked right where they belong.
|2 days 20 hours ago||Great||
So, let's see if I am getting this straight. When a metric agrees with your opinion, it's a great metric. But if it doesn't agree with you, than it is obviously a "questionable measure."

Last year's "M00N" game was "terrible." Michigan's 10-9 win was the "worst game in college football" that day. But if Michigan wins 10-9 this year, it will be an "epic struggle between the two best defenses in the Big Ten."
I'll take 10-7 Michigan in a "great game..."

To be fair, "kawter," there are three OSU posts on the mogoboard side display right now out of a total of fifteen. All three are relevant.
I am not trying to be rude here, but I am curious. Are you old enough to remember when Michigan vs OSU used to be one of the two or three best games in college football every year?

Here's the only "bowl prediction" we need.
#2 Utah vs #3 Michigan in one National Semifinal.
#1 LSU vs #4 Baylor in the other National Semifinal
Yeah: fuck it. I'm drinking the Kool Aid.

Harbaugh was never going to work for someone who wanted to meddle like Brandon. Brandon wanted a sock puppet and that's what he got. It's no accident that there were no serious candidates for the job who actually had other options.
Whitlock probably had more effect on press box eating policies than he did on the coaching search.

Reshp1: are you actually comparing this Michigan team with the one that took the field in 2013 as though they were equals? Have you been paying attention to what has happened the last ten months?
68-34-5 is about to become 69-34-5.

Willie Mae Seaton died at 99 years old this week. Forgive them if the environment isn't festive as normal for a week or two.

The first year of GR III's contract is guaranteed. Here are the details:
"Glen Robinson III signed a 3 year / $3,241,000 contract with the Indiana Pacers, including $1,100,000 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $1,080,333. In 2015-16, Robinson III will earn a base salary of $1,100,000."
And here is a link to the source:

Auburn has their "Tigerettes" and Ole Miss is great at "flipping" recruits on one visit. I think providing ho-stesses for recruits is sorta expected, at least in the south. The only thing that surprises me about this story is that UL had to hire from outside instead of having ho-stesses who are affiliated with the school.
And I agree about being a recruit. If I was in that position, I would make sure I took my full compliment of "visits" to schools that had reputations for that kind of thing.
|6 days 16 hours ago||He wasn't really the OC||
During Hoke's tenure, no matter who was taking the blame, David Brandon was the de facto OC. Just like RR gets an "incomplete" at Michgan due to his "sample" being cut off just as he was going to become hugely successful, Borges and Nussmeier get a grade of "incomplete" due to lack of a sufficient sample size.

It's nice to see honesty and humor instead of "IBD." I must admit, though: I did think IBD was funny the first 200 times I saw it.

Michigan will be judged by their record and it will count in the Big Ten standings. For them to be deprived of a game against a tomato can would totally suck, especially when OSU and MSU get to play them.
They can play this game at the Big House if they have to.
|1 week 1 day ago||Boz was right||
Bosworth came off as an ignorant redneck when he called the NCAA "National Communists Against Athletes," but he had one thing right: the NCAA is definitely "against athletes." Their entire mission is to preserve a free labor force while funneling any compensation from outside sources that athletes might receive back to the schools.
Death to the NCAA.
|1 week 1 day ago||Three things to add||
1. When Michigan self destructed in the 50's-60's and the last seven years, Sparty prospered. Otherwise, they are historically a middle-tier program.
3. Regression toward the mean starts October 17th.
|1 week 2 days ago||The elephant||
Moeler already had a problem when he was in school. I personally witnessed something that would be an "incident" today but was just "boys being boys" back then. People on the team "had his back" and obviously got him home OK.
Sorry: no details will ever be forthcoming. Suffice to say that in today's culture, he would be getting help before the problem became as severe as it is now. Back then, it was just another night and just another drunk. He always played well on the field, so there was no real red flag for the coaching staff.
At this point, I hope he finally gets the help he needs. It's never too late.
|1 week 2 days ago||I agree||
I agree in principle with ND Sux. The players only meeting could actually be a good thing. We won't know until the story unfolds. I wouldn't mind an "inspired" MD lose 31-0 instead of 52-0.
|1 week 3 days ago||Hoke gets an "incomplete"||
We'll never know how much of what we saw on the field was Hoke and how much was David Brandon. As someone who loves redemption stories, I hope Hoke succeeds somewhere else down the road. If he decides to go the Wayne Fontes route, disappear, and live off of what he made, I hope he enjoys his retirement.

"Poetic?" Prophetic, too.
|1 week 3 days ago||Typical NCAA||
This is typical NCAA behavior. Hammer the little guy and let schools like UNC, UK and Duke do whatever they want. On the football end, it's Ohio State, Bama and a host of SEC schools that do whatever they want witn minimal consequences.
On the bright side, it certainly won't hurt Michigan for SMU's team to be in turmoil.
|1 week 3 days ago||Funny||
So here we have a team talking about how religious they are and giving sermonettes at their Friday night church rallies, only to talk trash that Peppers described as "vulgar" and "in depth."
|1 week 3 days ago||That's what I see happening||
While a lot of teams like to pile it on for style points against weaker opponents, Harbaugh seems to be satisfied to score between 28-35 points and then start shortening the game. With a defense like Michigan's, a four possession lead is pretty much insurmountable if he can keep the second half down to five possessions per team.
My guess: if Michigan scores more than 42 points under Harbaugh, it is because the other team is really weak or because they pissed him off.
