"I can't believe he's bounced around so much"
It's a matter of journalistic integrity. He has it. His bosses usually don't.
|1 day 5 hours ago||Hmmm||
Maybe he attacked professional wrestling with EUTM during some of his off-time.
|4 days 5 hours ago||Strike One||
It's his first "strike" while at Nebraska.
|6 days 6 hours ago||OU||
There is no way the committee is going to let two teams from a conference not named the SEC into the playoffs.

I would start looking for an edible hat just in case...

Sadly, Sparty fans will be remiding us of the Sparty Fluke forever. The ESPN/ABC will play it a lot as their lead-in for the next ten years, like they did the Colorado play. For that matter, I'm sure we'll see the Colorado play again this year, as if it's the least bit relevant to this year's teams.

On the occasion when I encounter a UT fan who is stilll pissed about "Peyton Manning's Heisman" residing with Charles Woodson, I like to remind them that if Manning was worthy of the Heisman, UT woulnd't have shit the bed against Nebraska and given Nebraska half of the National Champinoship.

"Their taxi was stopped by individuals posing as armed police officers..."
I would be willing to bet it was real police officers. It sorta goes with the territory.

He rated his visit a "10" but said everyone recruiting him is "equal" right now and he doesn't know if he will be making a return visit for a football game. I'm not really seeing a lot of interest here yet.
|1 week 2 days ago||Words?||
Sparty has words. Big words. Great words. The best words. And they are going to make college football great again.
|1 week 2 days ago||I agree||
I agree with Angelique. I want to go with 16-0 Whooo Hooo National Champs, but I see it the same way: a victory over Sparty, one loss to a quality BT West team and a close loss to OSU.
i would be fine with that. If Sparty gets put back in their place and the incrememnt between OSU and Michigan shrinks, next year at home will be the time for Michigan to get back on track against OSU.
That being said, I will be screaming for Michigan to win every game this year. I hope I am wrong and they go undefeated. And a surprise "year too early" road victory over OSU would be the best thing that's happened to the team in a long time.

I can't wait for football season to begin...
|1 week 4 days ago||May I amend that for you?||
How about "Yes, you are a bad American and YOU SUCK..."
I will be rooting against Coach K the minute he starts coaching Duke again, but when he coaches the US team, he can do no wrong in my eyes.

Wiscy does "travel" great, especially to Michigan. When the hockey team lost to Wiscy in the NCAA finals at Olympia in 1977, there were more Wiscy fans there than Michigan fans. I know it's "apples and oranges," but they certainly travel well.
|1 week 5 days ago||They could change their rules||
Whenever anyone at Ohio State divulges violations, someone from the "Sacred Brotherhood" calls them and reminds them that being alive is fluid and could change in an instant. Then they recant their stories before they can meet with the NCAA for an "official deposition."
The NCAA needs to use statements made in interviews as evidence. Instead, they schedule a deposition for a few weeks later, giving the seamier elements plenty of time to influence the "memories" of ex-players.
If they really want to enforce their own rules, they need to be serious about it and change their standards to ensure that witness tampering doesn't work. Or they could just get rid of the 95% of the rulebook that makes it "illegal" for players to rightfully cash in on their extended 15 minutes of fame.
Sadly, they will do neither.
|1 week 6 days ago||"Tinfoil hat?"||
MJ's father was killed execution style. It's not a tinfoil hat stretch to infer from the data that he was actually executed. Jordan's gambling investigation by the NBA magically "went away" when he "retired" for two years.
It's not "tinfoil hat" to conclulde that Jordan got in over his head with the wrong people and his dad paid the price. Nor is it "tinfoil hat" to acknowledge the possibilitiy that David Stern, MJ and maybe even Phil Knight brokered a deal behind closed doors.
That's they way business is done. No illuminati, no wide-eyed conspiracy theory, no aleins. Just "good business."

Dantonio built his program because so-called "Michigan men" wre telling HS coaches not to send their kids to Michigan. Izzo built his program and his quasi-legend because of the Ed Martin scandal.
If not for Michigan's self-destruction, Izzo would be known as Heathcoate v2 and Dantonio would be a coach who got Sparty to some 9-win seasons but left for a better job because he was tired of taking shit from the 'Sparty faithful."
Michigan self-destruction didn't "help" Sparty; it made them.
|2 weeks 5 hours ago||All about the recruits||
As an old Pistons' fan, I hate MJ. But since the kids like his brand and Harbaugh has deemed it worthy, I love the MJ brand. It won't bring big recruits on its own, but not having Nike may have driven away a couple of major recruits in the past.
If it provides Michigan more access to better recruits, I'm all for it. That's all I really need to "get" about the brand.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||Sorry||
Sorry, but as dirty as college basketball has become, the most you can expect out of a clean coach is a solid team that usually makes the NCAA's, sometimes gets to the second week and makes a nice run every four or five years.
Does anyone complaining remember just how fucked up it was before Beilein got here?
|2 weeks 2 days ago||Come on, deejohn...||
This is a work of reasonable, professional quality. There is nothing cheesy about it. There really isn't anything for anyone to make fun of if they don't win. He has good rhythm, changes meter enough to keep it interesting and, most of all, has enough taste and tact to not say anything stupid, as young athletes often do in rap videos.
This is not "my genre" at all, but I think this is a solid effort and a positive on his musical resume.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||The Curse of the Ford Family||
As long as the Ford Family owns the lions, they will suck. They were and are responsible for what a lot of Lions fans called "50 years of poo" and counting. They had Megatron and Stafford and blew that "window." It sucks being a Lions fan. I stared following sports as a kid one year after the last year they actually won an NFL Championship. Ugh.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||Strongly disagree||
"Best teams" is subjective. It's a beauty contest that is dependent upon scheduling. If every Power Five champion was guaranteed a spot, the championships would actually mean something. The best side benefit: a team like Michigan could schedule ND, Texas and Oregon as its three non-conference games with no punitive consequences.
Champions only: if you can't win our conference, you aren't one of the "best." Let the results on the field determine the participants.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||Off the topic a bit||
I don't have much off a favorite Michigan mention in media, but in honor of the OP's handle and avatar, here's a Dead show at Hill Auditorium that has showed up on a few "underrated" lists in the Dead community from time to time. On a personal note, it was my first Dead show.

Take them to WWE's "Wrestlers' Court" and sue them for gimmick infringement.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||Interesting||
I did click on voting details and noticed that I don't even recognize the names of the three who downvoted. In other words, in this case, the people who downvoted are people who don't actually contribute much of anything but feel compelled to downvote others' contributions.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||So do Upvotes||
Downvotes may "turn into a feeding frenzy," but so do upvotes. I have to admit that I often find my hand automatically upvoting something that has a lot of upvotes already, as though it were bypassing my thought process and responding directly to a bright, green shiny object. OTOH, I almost never downvote anyone for having an opinion.
It's not like it really matters all that much anyway.

|2 weeks 4 days ago||I like it||
Since we all know Michigan isn't going to bend the rules to procure what Jalen Rose calls "All-American recruits," I plan to just be happy with what they have and expect Michigan to be a solid team that has one really good run every four or five years.
Basketball is more corrupt than football becuase boosters on teams like UK, Duke and relateive latecomer Sparty only have to spend six figures each on 2-5 players a year to see an immediate difference on the court. In football, it takes more players and they take longer to develop.
Beilien is doing what he can while playing by the rules. In a system so corrupt, no coach is really going to be able to compete on an elite level every year when following the rules. So, unless the NCAA actually enforces its rules in Durham, Lexington, East Lansing and so forth or gets rid of the rules altogether, and lets players take the money they deserve, the only other way Michigan is going to be a perennial Final Four contender is to cheat.
Do we really want that? I'll take the solid team that makes a good run every four or five years. If Wagner makes the leap, Robinson figures out how to get himself open, Irvin plays better and one or two of the freshmen contribute major minutes, this could be a great season for Michigan.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||8? Maybe||
I think they need to take most of it out of the hands of people sitting on their asses and put it in the hands of the players and coaches. The best way to do this is to go to 6 or 8 teams, championons only. Every Power Five champion should be guaranteed a slot. Then the best of the other champions, including an "indie champion" if it works out that way,
You want to see a bunch of "marquee matchups" during pre-conference play? See what happepns when the playoff isn't a beauty contest anymore, but lets each conference champion play.
That way, the loser of Michigan/ND isn't facing an uphill battle all season. If they want every game to be important, then make teams win their division and their conference to get into the playoff.
