I guarantee you I've been a Michigan fan longer than you, though I never went to school there. And I bet you that I went to a better school for my major than you for yours.
I was raised a Michigan fan from childhood, in a family from the Detroit area. Then, as military families do, I moved. And I moved many times. Italy, Chicago, Dc, Philly, San Diego. NOWHERE were there UM fans (in my age group). Yet, due to my parents, I've been raised to root for a team. Did I have a harder time finding people to root with than you? You bet. Did I remain true regardless of my surroundings? Yes; did you ever have to?
Then, I went to the local UC school (Davis) that was #3 for my major (better than UM in microbiology) because a) they are a good school for a growing science major, and b) I received a scholarship (NROTC) there that I didn't receive at UM.
So, I didn't go to UM. But I've been a fan since birth, through more difficulties than someone surrounded by fellow alums, and with no one else to watch games with.
And you call me a Walverine. As if you didn't start rooting for Michigan before you could spell.
And I didn't go there, not because I'm too dumb, but because I wisely chose a better school.
Yes, please continue.

Was just talking with my buddies about what we'd do if we left the actuary field. I thought only actuaries and finance analysts did this type of stuff? Itd be interesting to know your background - I don't know a single guy outside my field who does binomial distributions.
|1 week 1 day ago||thank you!||
We can't be the only people noticing this
|1 week 1 day ago||OC change!||
Did no one else notice an OC left after that?! The guy did a few good things at his new school: Houston. The guy who replaced him did - well, not good.
Barrett/Jones didn't regress. The whole offense did, because they lost a genius coach.
And look up the stats of the guy who is there now.
|1 week 1 day ago||counting stats are easier||
Like for baseball , it took a long time for WAR to replace WINS as the dominant stat.
|1 week 1 day ago||why does no one mention Tom Hermon?||
Am I crazy? All this "he was on fire" as if Fire just happens.
Who was the OC for the national Champ team I 06/7? Mullen. What happened after?
Who was the OC for the team in 14? What happened the year he left?
Who is the OC now, and where else did he suck?
|1 week 1 day ago||PFF grades vs. Counting Stats||
UM has players struggling to make counting stats because others are hindering them (read: sacking the guy first. . . Brian laments this on the Wisco URF and season preview. There are multiple additional sources available)
So when Mcdowell struggles because his teammates also affect him (because they suck ) you think he is not deserving?
Counting stats are great for people who don't know math. I vehemently believe this: Count the sales team members who can do algebra.
But for the rest of us, lets look a bit deeper, shall we.

There's an article somewhere in his blog that supports using the composite I've been digging a while and I still can't find it, but you might.
The gist is: rely on multiple sources for your rankings. Each may be skewed, but the sum will be less so.
Just think of Normal distributions (pet peeve: Midwest schools call them "Gaussian distributions" and so does Brian. Grr.)

It'd be the same if Michigan Los to OSU: We wouldn't win our division.
|1 week 2 days ago||locking this in||
So you and I can return to it after we win the natty
|1 week 2 days ago||Lewis was out earlier against the spread teams||
And Lewis > Clark.
That's why his name is always first in the history books.
|1 week 4 days ago||no idea if you'll respond to this, but heres a random question||
When I took the FM exam for actuarial Sci, we used v=(1+i)^-1
I was told finance peeps don't use v, just the (1+i)^-1. Is that true? Seemed odd at the time.
|1 week 4 days ago||i sincerely hope we put our second string in||
I sincerely hope we put our second string in the fourth quarter.
We'll get to avoid injuries, get them game reps, and it'll mean we're winning big.
But most importantly, DISRESPEKT! I'd crack up so hard.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||and this||
We're all hoping Harbaugh keeps his good plays in the stable. Maybe he had to show them with Rudock to win last year; maybe he can keep those good plays hidden this year with this D. Maybe we're just waiting to unleash the beast.

So I just tell people "I have sexdaily"

If this is the Mason Mills from USD , then he definitely is Not half Japanese. I went to HS with him.

I'm sure between a few of us, wed get this automated pretty quickly.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||Doak Walker sr year||
Last UM player to start with a 100 yard game? Chris Perry.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||Crazy to remember he actually||
Crazy to remember he actually came in as the #1 CORNER(!!!)
This guy has played boundary corner, field corner, safety, returned, QB, RB. . . fuck it, he's played everything besides kicker.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||Falso||
It would have been incomplete. They've been trained to "play behind then pull" (the back of the jersey). Look up "trail technique"
Been doing it since last year. And JD is the best at it.

On both accounts! (Go Navy, beat Army!)
|4 weeks 5 days ago||What were Lewis and Clark looking to discover?||
The Louisiana Purchase territory, I believe.
|5 weeks 1 day ago||yep, Lloyds||
Don't believe domestic carriers offer it, but I've worked with guys who literally just do "draft insurance" policies.
|5 weeks 5 days ago||Lewis fixes that tho||
When Lewis gets back, Michigan puts him and Peppers over the slot. That keeps Gedeon/McCray free.
The problem is right now we HAVE to put one of the lbs over the slot BC we don't usually deploy a fourth corner.
|6 weeks 1 day ago||shallow||
I think they don't look too deep. They see 5* and 4 year starter at big-time school. Then they rate him.
|6 weeks 3 days ago||superceding rule||
The highest rule is: The refs determine what happened. They have rules to follow, but regardless of the legality of their determination, it is final.
Kinda like the supreme court. You can't overturn their ruling. You can only make new laws (game rules).
|6 weeks 3 days ago||this||
The refs decide when the game is over. That cant be emphasized enough.
It's just that they fucked up in this case. But yeah, that's the rule: Refs end the game, not rules. (yes, refs should follow the rules of ending a game, but its an important distinction.)
|6 weeks 4 days ago||facts taken out of context||
yes, our counting numbers were high, but those teams were ranked, uh, rank.
(I do think UCF is going to be better than expected. They have good athletes, and Scott Frost was the former Oregon OC.)
