Yes, seriously they are. Last years polo/golf shirt did not have that dorky nameplate trim across the back and arms. That alone is a step back back in my veiw.
|1 week 2 days ago||Coaches Polos||
Those are a major step back from last years and even the first two years of the adidas polos. A lot of the adidas stuff is ok but when they try and get creative it really falls apart. Maybe it's just me being boring but less is more in my veiw and not just for Michigan gear.
I like that the "M" is embroidered versues the screen print Nike uses on their polos but the stripe on the shoulders is just strange. It reminds me of a blank nameplate. I do think some of the Nike stuff looks better but they are just as guilty of using the same template for every school mixing in strange colors and making the "swoosh" just as prominant as the university logo. Neither company seems to care that we are Michigan, Michigan St., Alabama, ND, etc fans and not fans of adidas or Nike.

Most offers are rumors since very few are ever made public (no one knows if Texas actually offered Saban) so it's tough to gauge. I've read that Narduzzi was offered a couple of MAC jobs and others in similar level conferences. He also turned down a lot of money to go to Texas A&M to be their D-coordinator.
Dantonio won't leave for anything. He's almost 60 years old and makes close to $4 million per year with his new contract. Not many coaches make a move that late in their careers and he is already making good money. Personally, I think he would rather make a legacy at MSU and has stated the MSU is a destination, not a stop. I don't see
Hollis was largely responisble for the creation of outdoor hockey games with the "Cold War" as the asscioate AD under Mason and was the point man for hiring Dantonio from Cincy since Mason was retiring soon. Right now their athletic department is bringing in more donations than ever before and under his direction they have imporved the facilites for football, baseball, softball, and soccer. Right now they are doing a renovation on Munn and major work on Spartan Stadium. As goofy as some fans may think putting MSU on the aircraft carrier it put their program front and center and that was also Hollis.
Tweets are never important but what his actual accomplishments are.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||Dantonio isn't leaving EL||
Sorry, but I have to agree with BRBlue. He's been rumored for a number of jobs and yet he has signed two extensions with MSU. Mark Dantonio has no reason to go anywhere else with the success he has had at MSU, has arguably the best AD in college athletics in Mark Hollis, the chance to play in the Rose Bowl, and a appreciative fan base. I would be shocked if say a Florida or Oklahoma came calling and Mark Dantonio left MSU. Hell, their d-coordinator has had a dozens of head coaching opprotunities and he's still there.

That network has turned into the tool that gets on any discussion board just to type "FIRST!!!!"
|13 weeks 4 days ago||Very sad to hear||
As sports fans we often get overzealous over any number of pointless "issues" that sometimes we gloss over some of the great moments.
As courageous as Lacey was in her fight against cancer Adriean Payne showed a lot of courage as well by opening his heart to a young lady. He did this knowing that that this could turn out the way it did were unfortunately high but he did it anyways when many his age and older would have kept their distance to minimize their own emotions. Fortunately Adriean Payne did not and helped provide Lacey some solace in the most difficult of times.
I really enjoyed the smile that he brought to her face and the smile she brought to his.
Thoughts go out to Laceys family and her extended Spartan family.
|14 weeks 4 days ago||Real Sports on HBO||
If you haven't seen it already watch the episode from March 25 about the college degrees for the student athletes who cannot read and the other degrees athletic departments funnel football players towards. It's really quite sad to see this and learn how the NCAA disbanded the SAT/ACT requirements to be a student athlete and went to a graduation based system.
|14 weeks 4 days ago||?||
Just curious as to how you think Mark Dantonio allowed this circus to happen? The way I see it Dantonio made the kid an offer and the kid accepted it even against the wishes of his parents. After the young man made his choice dad supported it, mom didn't and he ended up where he wanted to be. This was a family issue that ended up being aired by local sports media and mom, not MSU/Dantonio and the family. I don't think Hoke and staff would have done much different had Michigan been in MSU's position to be honest.
|14 weeks 4 days ago||Defense||
I think the defense is a bit suspect to honest and do not find to be any where near the upper ecehlons of anything. This is the same defense that let an MSU offense hang 30 points and over 400 yards of offense a week after scoring one offensive TD against Purdue. The perfromances against Akron and a UConn team who's highest point total all season was 28 is not what a good defense would do either. The worst part from my veiw is that the team didn't improve as the season went on. If they had gotten better from week to week that would be one thing but the lines neither line improved very much. The o-line couldn't block and the d-line could seemingly never get any pressure despite having the recruits.
So yes, I am a bit pessemistic but that's not the same as sad.
|18 weeks 3 hours ago||Some awful comments||
Some on here (and in life itself) are very sad, little people using a day when a man has died as a forum to point out all of his faults. I have feeling it may take countless days to point out all the faults of such callous people. People who feel as if they have some duty to take to their keyboard and diminish a mans life over a pro football team as if it were important.
Just because something may be true and you say it does not it justified because as with anything there is a time and a place and this is certainly not the time.
|20 weeks 3 days ago||I'm for it...||
But it must be done in a manner that is logical. For example, I think players should be able to negotiate the length of the season and new rules added or old rules amended but there needs to be a clear set of boundries of what would be allowed through collective bargaining and what isn't. The only way to get there would be to sit down and draw up a "constitution" if you will with the NCAA, student athletes and a impartial third party.
On a side note:
Personally I would like to see the season brought down to 10 games with an 11th game being a bowl and then the championship game being the 12th. Playing 14 games is too much for 18-19 year old kids that have other responsibilites besides football and puts a lot of wear and tear on their bodies. When a 20 year old that has played almost 2 full NFL seasons wants to go pro people blast the kid for not getting his education and feel he should stay in school and get beat up a few more years and then go pro. I believe if the NCAA reduced the number games more kids would complete college, pursue more difficult degrees and come out of the college experience in a better postion post football than now.
|20 weeks 3 days ago||Not just Baltimore||
Pretty much the enitre NFL and sports media world raved about about him being great leader and how inspirational he is. ESPN (of course) was the worst of them especially after they announced that he would be joining the network after the SB. Ray Lewis is shady at best and personally, I find his whole schtick to be phony but well thought out and executed.
|20 weeks 5 days ago||Good call||
You appropriately did not use a "s/" for sarcasm as this is probably true.
|20 weeks 5 days ago||Dumb||
To me, I just find really cheesy and don't really see what it's purpose is other than to whore out for more cash. It's stories like this that give me a sick feeling about where college athletics are and where they are headed. Next thing will be some donors name on the backs of the jerseys instead of the players.
|21 weeks 3 days ago||Seems like it||
Jake Butt's ACL tear is the 9th incident since spring of 2011 according to Nick Baumgardner on Twitter.
|21 weeks 3 days ago||NCAA||
The NCAA is a joke and this just adds to it. They claim they are all for player safety and thats is what the rule is about so players don't have as many plays on their bodies. This was the reasoning for the running the clock after the kick and what did the NCAA do after that rule? They added another game. Now teams that play in their conference championship game and a bowl game play 14 games, just two short of what most NFL teams play. Starting next year the two teams playing in the national championship will have played 15 games so this is just another fake attempt by the NCAA to care about the student athlete or aka cash cows. Look for the NCAA to ok going to a 13 game regular season schedule soon.
|22 weeks 6 days ago||I was thinking the same||
Have the skywriters write pro Daily slogans all over southeast Michigan which now includes East Lansing.
|23 weeks 1 day ago||I have a few||
I like to follow a school from each major conference and cheer for them to give bowl games a little more meaningful as well as just to make random games more interesting for me.
|23 weeks 1 day ago||Cedar Village||
That apartment complex and the surrounding ones are the source for almost every act of stupidity out there and it's a damn shame. Regardless of sports and the blind fandom that can cloud even the most rational being, MSU is a great school with a beautiful campus and an really good people. Hopefully they catch the coward and can give back some piece of mind to the Spartan community.
|23 weeks 4 days ago||Fair||
Now it's a matter of the university and the athletic department coming clean which in all honesty, given the info we have I'm a little suspect on.
|23 weeks 6 days ago||Agreed!||
I also attended the game and sat in the nosebleed bleachers on the end furthest from the Michigan bench. Having attended the Minny game earlier this year (recon mission!) I concur with how much more amped the Izzone and Breslin in general was versus Michigan than the Gophers. I would compare it to a game at Michigan Stadium versus ND under the lights to say, Wisconsin. The crowd was very much into the Minny game but nothing like Saturday night but that was expected.
One thing I noticed at both games is the level of crowd interaction was impressive with few fans not engaged in the game. I remember this one older lady, maybe early 80's was getting down with the chants, singing the MSU fight song and just really animated. They showed her on the screen at the Minny game a few times and once Saturday night. It would be great to see Crisler bring some of that in a few weeks!
I had couple fans, likely students who gave me the "fuck Michigan!" and one guy in my section who was a little mouthy at first but a couple MSU fans told him to zip it. The guy I sat next to was a MSU fan and we had a great talk during the game and he was very complimentary towards our basketball team. He experessed disappointment for McGary being hurt and thought highly of the job Beilein has done. No one gave me or my buddy a hard time the entire game and few along with they guy next to me said "great game" or some variation of that after it was all done.
All in all everything was fine and didn't have any trouble other than a couple knuckleheads but I've had those at Michigan games and they were Michigan fans. Breslin is great enviroment for college basketball which makes getting a W there even better.
|25 weeks 3 days ago||Minnesota||
I live about halfway between A2 and EL so I take in the occasional Spartan basketball game. When I was at the MSU-Minny game on Saturday Valentine had a terrible sequence that included a pass out of bounds and a foul on the other end because of bad defense. Izzo pulled him off the court and when Valentine came off Izzo tore him up on his way to the bench. Once Izzo had the play set as Minny shot free throws Izzo had an assistant run the team while Izzo sat next to Valentine with a dry erase board and coached him. They sat there for about 4 MSU possesions, about 3-4 minutes going over plays. After that they laughed an he put Valentine right back in. So I'm guessing they have a unique relationship where it's not as toxic as it looks.
|25 weeks 3 days ago||It's comical||
If the Lions won the Super Bowl (work with me here) with Tressel on the staff I'm pretty sure most of the anti-Tressel hire people would be wearing the crap out of Lions gear.
If Tressel can help the Lions then great. It's a pro football team, not a beacon of morality. There are players that have done much worse than Tressel yet people still buy their jerseys and cheer the teams they play for. He didn't cheat on his wife, beat her, stab people or get multiple DUI's. He was the coach at Ohio State and some people actually believe that is worse than any crime mentioned. To those people I feel pity for because their own moral standards are beyond repair.
|26 weeks 1 day ago||Devin Gardner||
I say that because what ever Al was doing last year wasn't working anyone really but especially Devin save for the Ohio State game. That poor kid got hammered every week so I think Nussmeier will help him out a lot.
|27 weeks 3 days ago||Jesus...||
Welcome to the board. Yes, that is sarcasm.
|27 weeks 3 days ago||Maybe Al is gone?||
Better check his office at Schembechler hall!
|27 weeks 4 days ago||Will Call||
Stubhub has a "will call" station where you pick them up. I actually used it for the Nebraska game this year after picking up tickets for $22 a piece. For that game it was near Crisler.
|27 weeks 4 days ago||This meme needs to die||
Michgan was NEVER out-recruited by Michigan State, even when the "evil" Rich Rodiriguez was in Ann Arbor. In fact, Michigan had the second best recruitng class in conference every year under Rodiguez behind only Ohio State. Something that has happend for the past 15 years.
This is something the "Michigan Man" and "MANBALL" set keeps hanging on and it is simply not true. Michigan has consistantly had better recruits than Michigan State but just have not gotten the job done against them and others. Dantonio is taking 2 star and 3 star recruits (Dennard, Bell, Greg Jones, to name a few) and has had three 11 win seasons in 4 years.
|27 weeks 5 days ago||Kind of||
I won't be rooting FOR them but I will not root against them either. So many MSU fans have foamed at the mouth for any and every Michigan loss and many here took them to task for that. In fact, that was one of the traits that made them "little brother" so I refuse to cheer against them.
In an ideal world Michigan State continues their trend upward and Michigan finds way to win some games and beats them most years.
|27 weeks 5 days ago||Next year||
Starting in 2014 the B1G and Pac-12 will match up in the Holiday Bowl in San Diego and the Fight Hunger Bowl in San Fran. If this schedule would have been on place this year, Michigan would have likely played Arizona. So next year it's actually quite possible.
