Oh I know, I was just using examples of how his clauses really helped boost his pay. Few athletic departments can give the money Michigan can so I used that as a basis to show how the contract figures could have been based off incentives, not base salary.
|2 days 11 hours ago||Total possible earnings?||
Maybe the figure was for a total possible amount he could earn and not a base salary? Given Saban made over $7 million after having a great year and Dantonio made over $5 million after winning the Big Ten championship and Rose Bowl I'm just guessing the $8 million figure could have been if he won a National Championship, Rose Bowl, conference titel, etc.
|3 days 18 hours ago||Recruiting||
I really don't believe recruiting has been negatively affected by having Adidas versus Nike. The recruiting classes for football have been really good when not dealing with coaching changes and basketball has landed studs like McGary, Burke and Irvin. What recruits really care about is winning not the jersey. If it were about jerseys Oregon would be God. Notre Dame also recruited well with Adidas and UCLA football is about as good as they've been in my lifetime. So while a kid may prefer Nike if that is what drives them to pick one school over the other then good luck to him because those are interesting priorites.

I would would have agreed with that last year but a lot of good teams have them now.
A short list of teams with co-offensive coordinators:
Michigan State, Arizona, Florida State, Ohio State, Clemson, TCU, Auburn, Miss State,and Ole Miss. Right now 7 of the top 10 teams have co-coordinators and some even have co-coordinators on both sides of the ball which I found interesting.
|1 week 4 days ago||The definition||
This is the definition of "high motor". In a lot of those tackles you can see that he wraps the ball carrier up and then tries for the strip. Rodriguez was raving about how coachable he is as well which I think is important and probably easier to do with a 2 or 3 star recruit.
|1 week 4 days ago||Agreed!||
Watching that kid find the hole seemingly ever time for tackles in the backfield was impressive. It also seemed like he was in on every play that wasn't a deep pass.

With all due respect, that point is already passed and it's really frightening.

Phil Knight paid for.

All bands or schools that use Seven Nation Army in any way, shape, or form will face the death penalty SMU style.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Or Michigan fans..,||
Not letting it go on both sides of the debate and still worried about 5 years ago as if it matter now. It's as pointless as bringing up all time records claiming greater fandom for Michigan than the other guy.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||It's a diverse offense||
It also includes the "no time left on the play clock call timeout" followed with the "delay of game for not getting the play in".
|2 weeks 4 days ago||All true||
At the same time the very same leadership that detrmined that was unacceptable felt the staff responsible for -48 rushing yards against MSU was worthy of an another year.
|3 weeks 13 hours ago||Nope||
The the two QB's that Hoke and his staff had got worse each year under their guidence. TD's went down, completions went down and INTs went up. With that trend spread over two different QB's I lean on it being a coaching issue. Besides the QB the backs were terrible the last 2 and half years as well so there is no play action and plenty of 2nd and 13 situations.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Appalachian St.||
Between Appilachian St. and even the 2013 MSU game where they had -48 yards rushing and no touchdowns for the second consecutive year may be worse than a bowl game shellacking. Hell, the B-Dubs bowl last year was pretty awful since K-State was not that good in 2013.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Don't forget Colorado and Utah||
They're in that division but we already know how the Utah game went. As of last week all but Colorado were ranked in the top 25 but USC or Utah may have dropped out.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||The difference is||
Dantonios players love him where Schianos didn't, at least at the NFL level. It seems to me that Schianos rep mostly comes from the NFL level and a lot of it is just whiney. In the end like Dantonio, Saban and Urban the opnion of Schiano really only matters to his players and to much lesser extent the fans of his team.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||Enlighten me||
I would be curious as to what really happened then.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||Agree on accountability||
There seems to be none when when someone makes a mistake and repeats it. I also feel there is a lack of leadership from the head coaching position that a new coach would fix. It's ok to yell and tell kids "This is my ship" and jump on them when they make a mistake. It's what you do when they fix their mistake that matters.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||No way||
That had nothing to do with the fact that Michigan lost to very, very average Maryland team so I couldn't care less about him throwing his headset. Also, who cares if "he looks like a dick" because he won a game that he shouldn't have.
|4 weeks 5 hours ago||Ohio||
It was always dumb to call Ohio State "Ohio" because Hoke did it. At this point of a 1-12 record against them it just looks childish. What would add to the rivalry is winning games against them, thats it. Not name calling, wins. I seriously wonder as to why Ohio State considers Michigan a rival since we as a program have dismissed far more competitive series.
|4 weeks 5 hours ago||?||
Huh? So a parka or a warm hat would be a negative? I don't think MSU fans would care much if Dantonio wore the ski cap in September since they win games. I actually support that idea!
|4 weeks 5 hours ago||maybe||
I actually like that offensive unit better abd the defense is a push in my veiw.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||For sure||
I'm sure Dantonio picked up all sorts of bonues for last year. From making the B1G championship, winning it, making the Rose Bowl, winning that and finishing in the top 3 in the AP and coaches polls. These contracts have so many incentive clasues it's crazy, like subs.
|4 weeks 5 days ago||Both in good spots||
Mullen and RR are both in pretty good spots where they are. Both have new facilities, are competitive in their respective conferences and brutal divisions. I'm not sure of Mullens pay structure but I do know Rodriguez has a very lucrative stock option that he will recieve after x number of years.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||Happy for you||
Given all the negative news about the VA and veterans health in general I am really happy to hear that someone was able to the help you needed and not what was the easiest. I know it soun
ds sappy and to some an attempt for posbangs but it is truly sincere. So many get passed over by docs who look for the easy way out.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||Really?||
I would be willing to bet really inappropriate things on the FACT the many Michigan football fans not on the board believe football is more important than the university. The other problem is you have athletic depts all over the country that feel the same way.
|5 weeks 18 hours ago||I don't get it||
It sounds like Izzo and Trice were asked specific questoins about their rotation and they answered them. I see it as a legitimate question and answer session with nothing to "poke fun" at. It's not as if thee lost and and Izzo said "if we had our full rotation we would have won".
This seems an awful lot like what Michigan fans accuse MSU fans of, being obessed with your rival since there really isn't anything news worthy.
|5 weeks 3 days ago||I heard you||
I could hear you practicing. I wanted to hear typing and you executed it well even though I think I was aware, but not fully aware.
|6 weeks 6 hours ago||Screen & reads||
The screens that OSU used tonight along with a few read options really kept the MSU defense off balance. I believe those really opened up the deep pass. Total opposite from what MSU saw two weeks ago which is a remedial offense.
|6 weeks 6 hours ago||Yup||
They were supposed to be gone after Eric Gordon and Greg Jones were gone. Then when Worthy left, then when Gohlston left and Cousins and Bell. Objectivity is difficult for some in rivalries but MSU has not gone away and have lost some really good players only to replaced them with players just as good or better.
