There seems to be more of a M-Live element as well where many rational discussions are eschewed or ridiculed. I pretty much stick to the front page now a days and leave the board alone.

I'm out on the football things from the 80's but I would fine with maize block M's for football acheviments on the blue part of the helmet and blue block M's for acedemic acheivments. It's a rip off of Georgia and their bones but I don't like the big helmet stickers on the Michigan helmet. If you have a helmet like Ohio State, FSU or even MSU it's one thing but the Michigan helmet already is more complex than most.

I miss that kid. Not shitting on the current goalies but that kid was a warrior every night and I think gave the d-men in front of him the confidence to cheat up a bit.

I think that is something that needs to be banned from use with O-linemen. In the open field it's a little different like with RB blocking for a QB but on the line its awful.

There are a number of real issues in regards to safety but up tempo offenses isn't one. I would say the length of the season is more of a threat than no huddle, up tempo schemes with both Ohio State and Oregon playing 15 games.
As mentioned before, what about his scheme using massive linemen? How about sending your starting RB into the teeth of a defense 20 times per game, taking hits everytime? If he gets concerned about his players safety then use a time out. You get 6 per game Bret, use them.
Adapt or die.

I just feel that there is a very big difference in the crowds. There is a large section of fans at Michigan games that have to be goaded into something as simplistic as the wave on 75 and sunny day. You also have groups in the student section that can be fickle at times and might decide to call it quits at the half if it's nasty.
These are things that neither pro football or the outdoor Wings game had to deal with.

Have your best non-conference game at night since it can be pretty hot during the first 2-3 weeks and a mid-October game at night. I'm not in favor of games in November being at night becuase the weather is a real question mark. The MSU/OSU game in East Lansing was the first week of November and an MSU buddy who went said it was brutally cold because of the mist and dampness in the air. That could bum the crowd out a bit and perhaps temper the excitement.

Good job on your idea but damn! You have created the B1G North division of death. Haha! Hopefully we never get to that point with expansion.

Some of you guys have to do saints work, especially in the student section. If you happen to see this I'm curious if you've seen a change for the worse in the attitudes of fans. From my perspective the stadium experience has become worse since seemingly anything goes now a days.

It was hotter than hell but it was nothing compared to the heat inside me for the Michigan fan screaming at the Michigan players. I sat in section 24, about 5 rows from the sideline and this loudmouthed asshole was screaming obscenities at the kids on the sideline and they heard him. A number of them turned around and he just kept at it until I finally lost it. He wanted to fight me and the guy behind me right there and I was ready to because he was just vile. So that takes my top spot for worst experience and I've been to Spartan Stadium more than once.
Number two would be the 2008 Rose Bowl. The amount of frat bros was insane. For the added joy of it add in the stadium is 80% USC fans and of those 50% were band wagoners plus the thrashing they gave Michigan made for a shitty event.

Screw you UCLA! That's what you deserve and I'm glad the kid changed his mind and went elsewhere. Sure the recruits can be annoying but there are schools so sleazy it serves them right. I know the Weber thing but I would have liked to have seen him move on from OSU to any other school just to make a point. If he's cool with it though thats all the really matters.

What a fantastic venue and I agree it trumps Michigan Stadium and Crisler.

Pete Rose is a hall of fame player. I don't care about his managerial career where the betting took place as it is completely separate from his achievements as a player.

I like Dantonio, Meyer and Izzo. I respect what they do and love what they bring to our games against them.

For the the things I'm with you on. 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.
I like LeBron and think he's about as good as you can get as modern day pro athlete. If his worst offense is "The Decision" then he's pretty much a saint.
Jalen isn't great but I actually like him better than Desmond and I thought it was funny when he harassed when Gameday was at MSU.

I honestly don't think your bowl game opinion is unpopular outside of the NCAA and Bristol, CT.
|6 weeks 4 days ago||Got that right||
MLB doesn't want him in the hall but they have no trouble trotting him out to promote their "All _____ Team" every few years. I could see banning him for ever for altering games but from what I understand there is zero evidence of that. People already have forgiven Ryan Braun who in my veiw is the biggest piece of shit playing because of how he smeared the sample collector claiming he was anti-semitic. He's far worse than Bonds, Clemons and McGuire but his misdeeds are almost forgotten now.

I don't know if you've been on MSU's campus lately but the super wealthy Chinese and Korean students have a collection of Porsches, Audi's, F-150 Raptors and there are a few Lamborginis as well. One of them is covered in a chrome vinyl wrap. It's like that at UCLA as well but it's harder notice since there are many more of them to begin with.
The reason for that is cars like that are much more expensive in China so when they leave the US they can ship their car back to China. Once there it can be sold on what they call the "grey market" for at least what they paid for it here if not more so it's essentially a free car.

Never trust anyone who tucks their hockey jersey in. Ever.

I think he's a good coach but the Jets have been a consistant cluster in every postion above him. When Michael Vick is an option at QB and the Geno Smith you're screwed as a coach.

All vandalisim is the same and it's all stupid, selfish and reckless behavior regardless of the circumstances.
|10 weeks 1 day ago||Yup||
I remember something like that too.
Just look at the faces of a lot of college coaches during their bowl games, they look just exhausted. I've driven by the football building at both Michigan and MSU early in the morning and have seen the head coaches parking spot filled. Then driven by both in the evening and the same nice SUV's were still there and that was in the spring. Even the number of games is getting closer to the NFL since OSU and Oregon played 15 games last year.

And not wearing a shirt.
|10 weeks 2 days ago||Disagree||
I completely disagree about the NFL being more of a grind. While I acknowledge I haven't coached in either the NFL or NCAA I don't think Jimmy is in touch with reality when it comes to the gap between the elite and the rest of college football.
There is a reason teams like Boise St., Ole Miss, Michigan State, and Arizona win 10 games, knocking off programs like Oklahoma, Alabama, Michigan, and Oregon. Its because that gap that existed in his days at Miami are long gone with scholarship reductions and TV exposure. Kids across the country now see teams they never would have before like Boise, Oregon and MSU every week while in Johnsons time teams like Miami and Michigan were only on TV maybe 4-5 times per year.
Jimmy Johnson hasn't been part of the year long grind that is modern recruiting and fundraising either. Sure there are "dead" periods where the coaches cannot actively recruit but I believe they can call the kids coaches and parents. All teams now recruit nationally where that wasn't so much true when Johnson coached so while there a more resources for todays college coach they are now spread across the country. Yeah, he's talked with Urban Meyer but to him the grind isn't a big deal because he's been at a while and is used to it. So if Urban tells him he spends a lot more time with his family now than at Flordia I bet it's still not as much as Johnson thinks.
It sounds like Jimmy is trying to get some attention by saying things that are very debatable.

It's similar to the weird short sleeves thing with Brady.
|10 weeks 6 days ago||Matt Cassel||
Granted he went in the 7th round but he never started a game let alone beat Alabama or win a NC as a starter. He had attempted fewer passes and never threw for a TD in his career at USC. Cardale Jones looks like a 6 time Heisman winner compared to Matt Cassel comming out of college.
|10 weeks 6 days ago||Arizona depth chart||
He was the 3rd or 4th QB on the Wildcats depth chart behind a redshirt freshman starter, a senior USC transfer and another freshman. He's probably an ok QB but not a power 5 conference starter. A place like Nevada, UTEP, or Fresno St. look as if they would be a better fit than any decent team on a major conference.
|12 weeks 18 hours ago||This might be weird but...||
I look at it somewhat like a family. Coordinators and position coaches are kind of like an uncle that you trust and can have a more relaxed relationship where the head coach is more like a father figure. Someone who will handle discipline/accountability, take on the big issues with you and someone who you respect but still have a little fear of and is clearly in command.
I've read about guys at other programs talking about how their HC was like a father and how they were a little bit afraid of him but loved and respected him. That's what made them play hard for the HC because they didn't want to disappoint him.
|13 weeks 1 day ago||Keep, bring back, delete||
Keep the BBQ for sure as it has been very helpful to recruiting and other schools are now doing something similar.
Bring back accountability. If it takes season long captains, getting chewed out on the sideline a little, or in practice just do that.
Delete the Legends jersey. Keep the lockers and whatever else goes into it but on Saturday just have the kids wear THEIR numbers.
