I've seen worse things than a double post today.
|2 hours 51 min ago||Michigan||
I have UVerse and get the PAC12 Network. Makes for some good late games.
|2 hours 52 min ago||Oh. My. God.||
That Zona game was insane. So much fun to watch and what a turnaround by the Wildcats from the first half. Like Rodriguez said, they never quit and just kept going after it. Their QB literally got better with every pass, all 23124 of them.
|6 hours 6 min ago||Northwestern||
Right now only the Wildcats is likely but lowly Northwestern has given much better teams than this one fits so...
Outside of that they may steal a couple and end up with 7 wins but the upcomming loss to MSU will as bad if not worse than last year and by Ohio State rolls around their QB will be improved. After getting absolutely destroyed by MSU and spanked by the Buckeyes this team will fly west to get slapped around in another bowl game fiasco.

Michigan has been a very average team for about 20 years. The last Rose Bowl won was in 1998, the non-conference record sucks, the Ohio State (yes OHIO STATE, not the stupid "Ohio" crap) record is shit and recent records also suck.
Some like to think this program has always been elite which it has not. Michigan has won 3 NC since WW2. By contrast ND has 7, MSU: 5, Ohio State: 6, Nebraska: 4, Miami: 5 (all since '83) and on and on. They've been good but to be elite you need to have more than 3 NC's in 60 years.
|7 hours 39 min ago||They'll make a bowl game||
I'm actually serious about this. Howeva, they could very well draw Arizona and yikes. RichRod could give the Woody Hayes quote on why he goes for two "because I couldn't go for two!"

Remember, that was with "Coach Carr's players" who were responsible for that feat.

The "Michigan Man" shit in my veiw is responsible for this mess we're looking at now. Since Martin didn't passify that contingent with the Rodriguez hire they became the loudest voice with the passing of Bo. Now we have a "Michigan Man" that preaches toughness and "hearing football" over halftime adjustments and scheme. A staff that calls plays at a snails pace to ensure execution and turn the ball over and run on 3rd and 14 or gets a delay of game after a TO.
Hoke is a good man and a good coach but was never qualified to take the reigns of a program like Michigan and all of the drama associated with it. He is a mid-major coach and from the outside doesn't show the leadership I would expect from a power 5 level coach.
|8 hours 18 min ago||Spare me||
I had a coach like you in HS who though he was a combination of Bo and Lombardi. The difference between HS football and BCS level teams is so vast the soapbox you're standing on cannot see the other side. "I coach high school and I changed cultures". High school teams fortunes change with just one big or small class. Unless you're at a Catholic Central, Harrison or Rockford your best play is likely a draw and to mix it up you run to the other side.
See, I can be an internet hardass like you.

For this remedial joke of an offense that is up-tempo.

Dantonio has rotated in every QB and has used at least four backs so far. Eastern cannot even fair catch a punt or field a touchback on kickoffs plus it was the first half. I don't consider anything that takes place in the first half to running up the score. MSU will probably score another 24 with second and third stringers because Eastern is just terrible and they can't take a knee for two quarters.

There is a youtube video of Mark Dantonio getting asked a QB question and he tells the first reporter that he isn't answering any quarterback questions. He must get asked 4 to 5 QB questions after that in the same press conference and it perfectly illustrates what you are saying. I would look for it but I'm just going to be lazy.

I drank some Red Stag and Coke and a lot drank more when I saw Purdue scored 14 on ND.

Some on here loved to shit on Rich Rodriguez when he answered a question about his time at Michigan and opine "let it go" or "it's time for him to move on". However it's completely legitmate to use him as the scapegoat four offseasons later and bring him up time and time again. Talk about not letting it go. So many Michigan fans grasp a straws to cover up for mediocrity its maddening. Everything from RichRod to the "it took Dantonio seven years!!!" meme is just dumb. Newsflash, MSU was in far worse spot than Michigan when Dantonio took over there versus Hoke taking over at Michigan so the comparison is just stupid.
Perhaps in five weeks we all may have a better perspective.
|2 weeks 4 hours ago||It gets worse||
Michigan could very well be in the top 3-4 in conference and will end up playing a team like Oregon, A&M, USC or Georgia.
Right now I can see MSU doing more damage than last year and I expect Ohio State to be better in late November than they are in early September. After tonight losses to team like Rutgers and Indiana seem more likely now than just a few hours ago.
|2 weeks 5 hours ago||No!||
No matter who starts at QB they will get crushed. When you can't run the ball in this system (100 yards on 35 attempts) the QB is toast. If Michigan ran the ball well and Devin just threw pick after pick or incompletion with good protection then yes but that is not the case.
|2 weeks 5 hours ago||Jesus...||
I'm sure this will somehow be the fault of "DickRod" or a "If we just wore Nike..." or some other stupid and phony excuse.
Good call on the chicken dance song last year too. Just like the skywriting over Spartan Stadium Michigan trolls and ends up eating shit.

I like the song, in fact it's a great song but MSU has used it prior to their teams run out for over a decade. Having Michigan adopt in in 2013 just isn't right so I am glad they changed it.

It was that game that is a perfect example of what Henne and the rest of the offense was capable of. They lit up the scoreboard even with two turnovers inside the 15 against an a damn good Florida team.
|4 weeks 1 day ago||Ugh||
I will never forget the late hit Crable gave to Troy Smith on 3rd and 15 to extend their game winning drive in '06 or the punt on 4th and short that was I believe inside the OSU 40 in '05.

It's cool but at the same time the Dream Cruise has become too big now. If I had a cool classic car the Dream Cruise would be the last place I would take it. Many people suck at driving on Woodward to begin with let alone on a crowded Woodward with plenty of distractions around.

Many Ann Arbor residents who don't give a shit about football feel similar regarding 115,000 people converging on their town seven times per year.

When I did a study abroad trip at Peking University in Beijing back in 2007 I showed them a video of Michigan football as well as pictures and they thought it was amazing. The Chinese students loved the MMB and the banner touch as well as the actual game. There were so many questions it was rediculous but I tried to answer as many as possible. They would definately sell out the national stadium (Olympic Birds Nest) for a game.
|6 weeks 1 day ago||Agreed!||
If Michigan wore these in the Rose Bowl fans probably wouldn't have a problem with them but then again given our fanbase... Yeah, I should probably back off that given there are a contingent that feel Michigan should probably wear leather helmets and wool jerseys because of tradition.
|6 weeks 1 day ago||The Blue Pants...||
I like them. The striped numbers are a bit much but the I think the pants a clean looking.
|6 weeks 1 day ago||For sure||
Back then the Oregon football team only had 3 jerseys versus the 8 they have now and that's excluding the helmet and pants. Just look at the some hideous ProCombat unis Nike has made for the Buckeyes for any indication of what is possible for Michigan.
|8 weeks 3 days ago||Best and possibly the worst at the same time||
For me it was the 2007 Rose Bowl that is both the best and second worst visit I've made. The good reasons are simple, it's the Rose Bowl. Even as a consolation prize for the 2006 season it's still a cool sight to behold as it sits in a valley/ravine of a really nice town. At the same time the USC fans were almost Buckeye nasty. Between the Brody Jenner frat boys, bratty girls and the fans that are seemingly left over from the LA Raider "Blackhole" days it's hard to say it was a pleasant experience as we left and then waited for a ride back. It's the only time I've ever been spat on and had the fight or flight sensation come over me for a sports event.
I've been to Spartan Stadium a few times and only had a problem when passing by the tennis courts on Chestnut, behind their football building. That area is the native habitat of the "bro" on Saturdays and if you time it wrong you will not just pass, you will swim upstream with them to the stadium which is a bad time. Last year year we came in from the old campus side and sat lower bowl in the north endzone and it was fine aside from what took place on the field. It's almost better to be harassed than pitied by surrounding fans. If you go this year try your best to sit in the north side of Spartan Stadium which has added a new endzone complex with better amenities for fans and players.

I've worn a Michigan polo out on Forrest Akers West when golfing with some of my MSU friends and no one became bent out of shape. The only people that gave me any grief were my friend and the cute girl working the proshop and it was all in fun. Same deal when I hit up the Dairy Store on campus after. Hell, I even got a free scoop of the MSU flavor after I order their Maize N' Berry! Haha!
I've been on the Ohio State campus in a Michigan hoodie and only two students razzed me by booing me before walking up and striking up a great conversation. Despite being 10 years older than the couple we met up at a place called Houndogs pizza and had a really nice time with a couple of their friends, one of which was from Monroe.
A few bad experiences seem to have a greater impact than many good ones. If anything wearing your schools colors in "enemy" territory could be an icebreaker to meeting some good people who get that sports and rivalries are supposed to be fun as well.
