They absolutely directly profit from higher prices - they're getting a fixed percentage. i've also always believed they were at least somewhat complicit in keeping asking prices high...how exactly I don't know but there's very littele price elasticity in the face of weak demand. Maybe everyone listing is just super-optimistic but I suspect otherwise.

Once those tickets move to the higher-spending, less diehard fans, one thing you're going to start noticing is more and more empty seats around the stadium and the overall atmosphere less intense. Same thing you've already seen in the NFL and MLB. Whether you're for them or not that's one by-product of the PSDs.

Sure looked pretty conclusive to me. Not quite Tyson-ish but...wow.

Canham had a winning program and reasonably priced tickets for a quality schedule. At that time all the branding and other money raising programs were outside the ticket prices and game-day experience. That's the big difference - changing the ticket price structure is affecting who actually goes to the games and that undermines the tradition.

Didn't know this was on until someone I work with told me they were running towatch it. Caught the last 20 minutes, and yeah that was good

The sole purpose of a betting line is to equal the money bet on each side. It only moves in response to which way the betting is trending. It's not meant to predict anything. People may treat it that way for discussion purposes but prediction has nothing to do with how the number is determined.
An individual's prediction may determine how they bet and that in term ultimately influences the line but the line itself is not a prediction.

You may be right, and I hope you are, but until it happens you're going to see a line like that. Remember it isn't a game prediction, it's a money balancer.

On this point I agree. It may not be for the reasons we would prefer but this game's going to get a lot of attention. We just better win early and large.

You're missing the point. We're not paying for a football game. We're paying for that weekly superbowl-like experience. That's a constant regardless.

Because it isn't so much the cities as various politicians and power factions that push for it. It's not a great deal for any city as a whole.

Thanks for posting.
I had the standard 720 version but these are great to watch, especially in the offseason.

I'm in Fairfield. Just googled this but found nothing.
Unless of course you're interested in luxury leather handbags.

Where is the ad hominem attack? Or any attack for that matter? It's completely fair game to recognize all parties' potential interests in any discussion.
That comes with the territory of being a public, opinionated figure, as Bacon willingly and eagerly makes himself.
I actually agree with most of what he says but fair is fair.

No way this guy redshirts voluntarily. For Hoke it has to be all hands on deck this year. Also, if he's as good as advetised he could be in the NFL in two years.

In 2008 they noted Ray Allen was "getting older". That guy is a testament to desire and conditioning.

How are you figuring he would be almost a full second behind the HS record? Unless I'm mistaken that record is 10+ and this is 10.52. Besides which he's not a full-time track athlete.

It's been that way for a while here but probably reaching a new level in the offseason.
The people doing it are becoming more tiresome than the things they're criticizing.

Why is it not a good idea for someone to try something if their odds of success are low. I remember trying out for my college basketball team as a freshman back in the day. Had virtually no chance but it was a hell of a week of trying. Really it stands as one of my all time best sports memories.

I agree this was the best game of the year by far. Both Gallon and Gardner were excellent and the O-line held up. If not for the Gardner end zone mistake this could have been a blowout.
Watching this actually gives me hope for this year. Things could turn around a lot faster than you might expect.
