Not a chance. Ned was a logical, humble, just, stoic leader who always told the truth regardless of how it affected him. Arya is a tempestuous, spontaneous, cold-hearted, survivalist who learns how to lie in order to manipulate people to reach ultimately-justified ends. Robb is the most like Ned. |

You're taking my point and making a straw man of it. What I said was that flagrant fouls should be called for extreme "clobbering" fouls that were referred to by the poster I was responding to, not fouls that stop a shot from happening. I also fail to see how this would make basketball less physical than ice dancing. You obviously were trying to reduce. My argument to the absurd, but your attempt was confusing and stupid. |

| 8 weeks 4 days ago | I assumed it was appropriate |
I assumed it was appropriate because Daft Punk is one of the most influential bands still together currently, they have a cult following, they only put out records once a decade or so, and they typically limit the amount of vinyl pressings of their stuff. Thus, I figured any Daft Punk fans on this board would want to know that they can pre order the LP and not get left in the dust when they sell out. |

| 9 weeks 5 days ago | You are correct. There was a |
You are correct. There was a huge study done in the last decade where a bunch of English soccer refs came to the US to try and figure out why we aren't better at the sport. One of their major conclusions was that US refs at every level (the study mostly looked at soccer refs but im sure it applies to other sports as well) treat fouls differently depending on the size disparity between the two parties involved. Ie, calling the Nix incident a flagrant while not calling the Watford foul. In soccer, the result is that bigger, stronger, more athletic players get "Harrison Bergeron'd" and their development can be hindered. |

Bring soccer's "advantage" rule into basketball. ie. if someone commits a reach in or something dumb in the last 30 seconds, but the offensive team maintains possession of the ball, let the team maintain play. I can't watch Game of Thrones because its essentially the same plot, just not done nearly as well as the books. It certainly was a lot of posturing. But I think they need these types of episodes to maintain realism and do some character development. It wasn't great, but I'd rather have episodes like this than just a weekly zombie brawl. I know that wasn't your point, and I do agree with you that this episode could've been sped up and included more plot points, just sayin. |

I like reading things that have non-traditional style. If I just want facts, I can look them up myself. I like the MGoStaff's witty, satirical, tongue-in-cheek style of writing. If I wanted to read something formulaic and straightforward without any subtlety or satire, I'd buy a Mitch Albom book. |

| 14 weeks 2 days ago | It's harsh, but studs-up |
It's harsh, but studs-up tackles are essentially always red card offenses. They fall under "serious foul play" and aren't really subjective in nature. If you're going to call a penalty on Ibra in that last minute, it's going to be a red. The only time you'll see a studs-up challenge get a yellow card is if the challenge was very close to the ball. Ibra was miles from connecting with the ball. I'm not surprised he got a red, he's the same player who kicked multiple teammates in the head at AC Milan (apparently for fun... Once he kicked a teammate in the head during a TV interview). He has got to be more disciplined in his challenges. Ultimately I still think PsG goes through. |

I apologize if I came off as accusative or mean-spirited. Edit- I'd also like to see the state's evidence for such a claim, it seems pretty strong, so they'd have to have some strong evidence to support it. It does seem dubious at first glance, you are right in that. |

GATT is a sub tonight, Mix is not on the sub list so I assume he didn't make the trip. I'm guessing Zusi will be subbed at the 60 or 70 minute mark for allowing both to go balls out down the sideline all game. |

Starting XI Sean Johnson, Morrow, Besler, Gonzalez, Beltran, Beckerman, Davis, Zusi, Evans, Eddie Johnson, Wondo I'm very excited to see Omar Gonzalez get his debut, I'm hoping that Zusi can continue to be a weapon on offense, and I'm interested to see if EddieJohnson can play as well as He did the last time he played for the usmnt. Make no mistake, though, this is a B- squad. I'm expecting a 1-1 draw. |

I only have my Bs in biology so my experience with research is limited... What are your experiences with transgenic vs just adding the substance? Ie. if the researchers in the study above had added IgF-1 rather than having it expressed as a gene, would the results have been different? Edit- biology, not bology. Autocorrect never works when u wish it would. |

I don't know what formula they used but your point about them projecting Indiana to win the big ten by a slight margin could be a culprit, it could be exponentiating the small difference between the two teams unfairly. In a sense they could be using the same data point multiple times which would result in falsely high confidence? Or i could be monstrously mistaken, it has even a few years since I took stats. |

1) its based on specific Kenpom match-ups, not previous performance. 2) dont fall victim to the gambler's fallacy. If you flip a coin 100 times and it lands 'heads' 60 times, the probability of the next coin flip being a 'heads' is 50%, not 60% as your point of view seems to indicate. |

| 16 weeks 3 days ago | Well aren't you just the king |
Well aren't you just the king of straw men. I never said this study means parents should keep their kids out of football. I simply provided a piece of actual evidence linking football and CTE. I don't give a shit what you do with your kids and neither do the doctors who conducted this study. The difference between lay people and scientists is that scientists know about the dangers of overextending the conclusions they make, and, thus, don't make blanket statements as the conclusions of their hard work. |

http://vitals.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/12/03/15651165-contact-sports-leave... That article references a study published in a peer-reviewed medical journal that concluded that contact sports (specifically football) create a distinct and predictable pattern of CTE. Now if you call a peer reviewed medical journal anecdotal evidence then I got two words for ya. |

These type of topic always make me feel a bit silly because I think everyone posting is much more concerned with letting others know their opinions rather than listening to others. You're asking for us to provide medical evidence (something that is generally HIPAA protected) regarding an injury that is exceedingly difficult to diagnose, usually is a result of chronic trauma sustained over a long period of time, and doesn't manifest until later in life. The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. That's 1st day statistics shit right there. |

What was the last "big splashy hire" that worked out? Did Parcells win a Super Bowl for the Cowboys? Rex Ryan and the Jets? Joe Gibbs coming out of retirement to join the Redskins? Lane Kiffin to the Raiders? Josh McDaniels to the Broncos? The only "sexy" hire that has been successful in the past decade has been Harbaugh. (Edit-okay that's probably a huge exaggeration. My ultimate point is that the public barometer is a terrible measuring stick of success. I is wrong as often as it is right) More often its the unheralded coaching hires like Mike McCarthy, Mike Smith, Chuck Pagano, John Harbaugh, and Mike Tomlinson (remember how Russ Grimm was the next great coach?) In the nfl you just have to wait and see how they do on the field. There is no statistically significant way of predicting success. |
