OSU in 2021 - I don't think anyone believed we could beat them until we actually beat them. It had Hutchinson, the snow and our offensive line just destroying them. It is my favorite game of all time because we all needed it so badly. This past season was amazing but that 2021 game was the game I always go back to.
The tapes of the lead detective using the N word in the most offensive ways possible did the prosecutors no favors. I don't think it was possible to recover from that.
I learned at age 42. It isn't that bad. I took a 3 hour lesson and just pulled the band aid immediately. It is tough at first but I love it and went last weekend. I prefer it to skiing by far. The boots are so comfy wandering around when you aren't actually on the board. You are going to eat shit the first couple days and it will feel helpless but you will get it.
He is averaging 19 points per game for Arizona who is number 8 in the country. That is my point, Howard hasn't been able to play on anything close to a level playing field with other programs. Shannon is averaging a nice 20.5 this year.
I feel bad for Howard. I think he would have been able to recruit but the NIL world was dropped on him changing the game and it is a game we don't want to play. He would have had Love and Shannon but they got tangled up with admissions. The combo of NIL and not getting enough talent probably cost us Dickinson. Basketball is a sport where one guy can make a huge difference. Howard certainly has been far from perfect but it isn't all his fault.
I'm surprised it took this long. I can't blame the kids when you don't know who is coaching you. I hope this doesn't lead to a mass exodus but nothing would surprise me at this point.
This is more Harbaugh's staff than it is Michigan's staff. I think it is pretty clear that he put together what was one of the best coaching groups in the country and he knows it. The guys seem to be more loyal to him than the university. If we want to keep these guys, then do what it takes to keep them. It seems like we are asleep at the wheel and paying for it.
Honestly, if we aren't doing what we should be doing to retain these two potential superstars, don't we sort of deserve it. I hope we keep these kids but the University needs to make it a priority to retain the talent we have.

Then the RichRod Hoke era occurred and for 7 years it felt like we were never going to be great again. Harbaugh won 10 games the first year and basically game my Saturday's back. The last 3 years have been spectacular while it seemed like the program was always at a disadvantage in recruiting, admissions and even NIL. I still have zero idea how we won a natty. I would have said it was an impossibility the way we recruit compared to the big boys. I hope Harbaugh gets a statue someday.

This feels like damage control at this point. "Look we tried" when Harbaugh takes the NFL job. I'm not saying it is their fault but the timing of this is interesting.
I'm starting to feel like we caught lightening in a bottle in 2023. The fully weaponized era of NIL is a scary place. OSU is pulling out all the stops. We have one 5 star on our roster where the NIL schools pull several each class. Strength and conditioning along with coaching obviously matter but you have to be at least be in the zip code in the talent department. I hope we can keep the program momentum going forward.
They normally trot out Top 5 draft picks at QB. I don't think Howard fits their system. I like the kid but he is will be the least talented kid Day has ever had under center. Their defense is what has my attention. Both DE's are back from a pretty damn good defense. They are going to be a handful but I think they take a step back on offense next year. They have had guys like Stroud, Olave, Wilson, Harrison on the the offensive side of the ball. Jameson Williams had to transfer just to get on the field at Alabama. OSU will be really good but they aren't going to be as offensively scary as years past.
If I'm trying to be non-biased I would say Georgia and OSU have pretty nice rosters. OSU has a question mark at QB. I think if we find a QB we could make things interesting. The schedule is just brutal though. The Defense should be elite.
Harbaugh has given the University the best 3 year run of football in the school's history. I hope they don't screw this up. That being said, I'm not buying the whole contract argument. I think coach has to decide if he wants to scratch his NFL itch or not.
To be honest I prefer that college football NIL funds go to kids that come back for the fourth year like we did and now OSU is doing. It is a much better way compose a team. They are going to be a handful next year. I think they stole the idea directly from us but it is a smart move.

We hit on JJ, Edwards and Johnson and built great lines up through coaching and the weight room. However, if Davis isn't a hit we have a problem at QB going forward. We really haven't landed a top quality transfer or a top rated QB since JJ. Those really good Clemson teams recruiting classes never seemed that great in the rankings but they got Watson and Lawrence at QB. If you land a great QB it really makes life easier. QB is probably the hardest position to get talent if you don't want to play the NIL game the way others schools are playing it.
I think there are basically two conferences and everyone else. They need to get rid of autobids and just get the best teams. You are going to have some Big 10/SEC teams that have some losses at the end of the year that are going to deserve to be in the playoff. They are probably going to beat each other up.
No matter what happens it is a cluster****. I think Alabama is clearly better but FSU is undefeated and an undefeated conference champ doesn't get left out. They even beat LSU in non-league portion of their schedule. I looked at ESPN power rankings and 12 of the top 13 are from the future SEC/Big 10. Times they are a changing.
I was hoping he would hit the portal. Bring the kid home if the coaches think he is a fit. He is extremely talented. He was a true freshman this year and looked like it at times. He still has a ton of upside.
From 2020-2023, OSU had 11 top 100 wide receivers in their recruiting classes. Oddly Marvin Harrison Jr. was not one of them. He was ranked around 160. That offense is a Rolls Royce of 5 star talent.
Honestly, the kids have shown each other a ton of respect that last couple years. It is the opposite of the MSU game which had been getting ugly. I found myself really appreciating some of the OSU kids. I don't ever want to see Marvin Harrison Jr. again. I looked at their 2021 recruiting class and it was loaded. I will be glad to see most of those kids heading to the NFL. It is so impressive that we somehow figured out how to beat them three years in a row.
I hate Urban with all my heart and soul but appreciate that he was a great coach and I thank God it was Day on the sidelines today as opposed to Meyer.

Iowa is really good on defense. I hope we don't have a 2016 style game. We need to get on them early so they don't believe they can hang around.
