Hoke clearly went for that last touchdown because he was worried about padding Michigan's tempo free stats. I would've thought that was obvious.

I'm not sure that there are a lot of takeaways from Penn State's game against Indiana, unfortunately. They play such a different offense than us, so any struggles that Penn State revealed on Saturday may not be repeatable for our offense.
On defense it's going to be interesting to see what Mattison does. Unfortunately I see him playing a lot of two deep to prevent Allen Robinson from destroying us in the long game, so we'll have to see if Penn State can sustain long drives. I see them scoring somewhere in the low to mid 20's, so we just have to get above that.

Probably two, which relies upon McGary and GRIII going pro after this season. Zero if they don't go pro, but let's be honest here.

I agree with Cincy, I thought the forums were excellent. The chats they held and the information they dropped there was second to none. Tom had as good of connections as anyone except maybe Sam Webb, but when you consider how expensive Scout is, Wolverine Nation was well worth it. I thought it was the best value in recruiting coverage, but now without the forums it's just not even worthwhile.

I'm always surprised that so many of these kids pick up gear for each school they visit. You've got a whole lot of t-shirts and sweatshirts to give away when you choose your school then.

My favorite thing about this team right now is that they seem good enough on both sides of the ball that Michigan can enter a game with a comprehensive gameplan and feel comfortable that they're going to be able to execute it. It seems pretty clear that they were going to allow Notre Dame to dink and dunk their way down the field because they thought that they couldn't be stopped on offense. Teams like Michigan State and Nebraska don't have that kind of freedom, and I think it's an underrated aspect of success in football today. You're going to come up against a lot of different styles of play and it's nice to have the ability to adapt.

If you were impressed by Rees I don't think you were watching the same quarterback as I was. He did some good things obviously, but that's more about the Notre Dame coaching staff realizing his limitations and putting him in a position to succeed. He has very little arm strength and loses his accuracy on anything past 15 yards. There were several times a guy was wide open and he couldn't put the ball in the right spot. He wouldn't have a hope of hitting even a fraction of the throws that Devin was making. In my opinion, he's a decent QB but one that you'll always have to put in a position to succeed, he's never going to win a game by himself. You correctly pointed out the receivers though. I think Jones and Daniels are very, very talented and Niklas will only get better. They're the talent that carries that offense right now.

What do you think of Pumking? I had it for the first time this year and I really didn't like it. I've read a lot of reviews on Beer Advocate that people didn't like this year's batch, even those that have liked it in the past.

Hmmm, born without ears and eyes? That's a bummer.
Watch her perform "Your Sex is on Fire" on the YouTubes and see if that doesn't change your mind really quickly.

It's not as comprehensive or up-to-date as some of the pay sites, but it's got most of what you need.

It's pretty cool to see but you've got to hope that Henry passes him at some point. There's just no way his ceiling isn't higher than Glasgow's.

OSU was missing Bryant and Roby. They weren't elite in this game, but that doesn't mean they can't be. Just like Michigan was missing Thomas Gordon, that affects the game.
Also, the problem with Ferentz isn't whether he should or shouldn't be fired, because it's obvious that he should. The problem is that they're locked into a long-term deal where they owe him vast piles of money. He can't be fired because they can't afford to.

You are correct about the ranges, but those are only approximations for their final rankings. Since they only use 6.1 for 5 Stars and only release 10 5 Stars right now, there's a decent chance Campbell is still in the top 25, but not a 5 Star right now.

He's a Tennessee fan, SEC homer, misogynist troll god who has made his living off of writing click-bait columns with "controversial" points of view. Past projects include boob power rankings, defending Darren Rovell, and defending Brett Musburger's unprofessional fixation on Katherine Webb during the national championship game. He's atrocious.

Please, warn people that you're posting something from Clay Travis. If I would have known, I wouldn't have clicked on anything that idiot wrote.
In fact, I would prefer if what he wrote didn't get posted at all. If it has to, it should come with a warning.

Hand is actually listed as a strongside defensive end on all of the recruiting sites. If Taco has the pass rushing ability and speed to get to the QB, you'll want him more on the edge than on the interior (which the SDE is in this defense), up to a reasonable size. Plus with Hand coming in and looking at that SDE depth, that would be a much better place for him to play early since the talent and depth seems to be a lot lower.
To me next year it's:
Clark (Sr, 50% snaps)
Wormley (RS Soph, 40% snaps)

Agreed, but after having two camps and a full offseason to do so, the question has become "can he"?

The secondary is the most fascinating to me.
-Terry Richardson seems pretty buried at this point. That's a pretty big bummer for a 4* guy with an offer from Alabama.
-Channing Stribling must be the steal of the century.

Some of the recruiting writers I follow on twitter were retweeting some of his stuff from his (Lattimore's) visit to the BBQ, so I clicked and read through his reactions. My impression was that he was almost begrudgingly really enjoying everything, like he didnt want to be having fun and liking it, but still was. It's good to see that he's taking an official visit too. I still don't expect him to choose Michigan, but at least we're making them work for it.
|16 weeks 1 day ago||That was my original||
That was my original sentiment as well, "These kids aren't very smart for realizing that MSU is still MSU, they're just being sold the same product in better packaging", but the more I think about it the less that actually makes sense. The reason the hire was so brilliant was that's exactly MSU's problem. They've been a top ten defense by traditional and advanced metrics these past couple of years, and there's nothing to indicate that might change anytime soon. The coaching is clearly very, very good. All they needed is to dress up the product in a fresh set of clothes. I think that's what makes the hire so worthwhile for them.
|16 weeks 2 days ago||Actually neither DeBerry nor||
Actually neither DeBerry nor Settle has an offer from Michigan yet. DeBerry visited this spring and has offers from a who's who of college football and it doesn't look likely he'll get one from Michigan at all for whatever reason. And Settle will probably get one if he visits with Hand this fall. Their only two DT offers are Alabi from Cass Tech and Shy Tuttle out of North Carolina, according to Touch the Banner, which is usually very on top of these things.

Well the West Coast Offense is about timing and accuracy/decision making so you would start there when looking for qualities. I would say that biggest thing that he's lacking right now is foot work, which looks pretty poor. And his mechanics just aren't very good either. If you go to his highlight tape and watch the throw at the 0:53 second mark, he's rolling out and he throws off of his back foot and doesn't get any legs into it at all, he just kind of throws it like you would in the backyard. Obviously he's still really young and has plenty of time to develop, but he needs so much more work than a lot of other quarterbacks and there's no guarantee he'll get there.
|17 weeks 7 hours ago||I don't believe that they||
I don't believe that they were ever going to offer him. Which isn't to say that he has no talent, he just doesn't come close to the skill set that they want at the position. They have offered one 2015 QB and shown interest in half a dozen others and he was not one of those.
|17 weeks 1 day ago||Agreed, it's pretty obvious||
Agreed, it's pretty obvious that he is both talented and that Michigan is completely disinterested in him. There are plenty of good QB's out there that Michigan will never pursue because they have a very specific criteria for their QB skill set.
However, it is interesting that State is starting to pursue some kids with some legs on them. Although Terry and Campbell aren't quite dual threat, they're not statues like all of the guys they've been recruiting for the past 5 years either.

Good to hear he's at 237, 2 pounds higher than Funchess. Everyone knew he would see the field this year but that weight definitely confirms it. Hopefully he struggles less with the blocking than Funchess did.
