| 10 hours 53 min ago | IMO, that's the ideal |
IMO, that's the ideal scenario. You rarely want to start true freshman, but you don't really want to start a sophomore without any experience either. The nickel seems like a great way to get both of them on the field for a good number of snaps and take advantage of their otherworldly athleticism, while preparing them for their fulltime safety or cornerback position in the future. And as you mentioned, with Gordon and Taylor graduating when they are, it would really work out. That being said, someone's going to break their tibia or something because it's football, rendering all of this thought process moot. |
| 1 day 3 hours ago | 2012 Rivals: OH: 4 top 100 |
2012 Rivals: 2013 Rivals: I said there were some caveats, but I do think it's still a downward trend. All of these sites do have dedicated midwest scouting guys, so I don't necessarily think it's a scouting issue. More guys always get discovered, but you players from all over move up and down throughout the process, not just Midwest guys. |
| 1 day 4 hours ago | Interesting Note |
So I was taking a peek through these and it seemed to me like the rankings were light on Midwestern prospects. Caveats apply obviously (these are not final rankings, this is just one sites opinion, etc.), but that definitely seems to be the case and it would seem to signal that the rust belt/sun belt trend is deepening. For the three major midwestern states, the ones that Michigan draws upon most heavily at least, the "High blue chip talent" is falling. 2008 Rivals Rankings: 2009 Rivals Rankings: 2015 247 Sports Rankings: This may not seem like a lot, but I think it does have some pretty major ramifications for the Big Ten and Michigan. Michigan is going to have to dig deeper down south to get their talent, which is why I think you're seeing them hit a more vulnerable place like Virginia so hard. The Big Ten is going to be fighting for fewer and fewer scraps as well. There's a lot more to be said, maybe I'll throw together a diary on this if people would be interested. |

The opinion on Michigan's class thus far could not be any greater when comparing Rivals and ESPN. Strange, very strange. |
| 6 days 5 hours ago | Yes, he is a guard, but |
Yes, he is a guard, but Michigan hasn't stopped recruiting him despite only taking 3 OL prospects. Since they always shut positions down when they reach their target number, they must be willing to take him. |

Jamarco Jones (presumed OSU lean) and Roderick Johnson are probably the next two up. After that, not much else activity right now. |
| 1 week 6 hours ago | Yes, I could absolutely see |
Yes, I could absolutely see that as well. The good news is, if Taylor holds off Peppers, we know that he earned the spot instead of them playing favorites with an upperclassman. It's a win either way when you have two talented players competing. |
| 1 week 7 hours ago | Your 2014 starting secondary |
Your 2014 starting secondary could be FS Jarrod Wilson, SS Dymonte Thomas, FC Blake Countess, and BC Jabrill Peppers. In the words of Bacari: HALOL |
| 1 week 10 hours ago | Magnus... |
Another SAM type they're looking at is Jimmy Swain (the fourth!) out of Missouri. Have you had a chance to watch his highlights as well? And if so, who do you like better? Swain night be a slightly better athlete and he's got about 10 pounds on Winovich right now. I think to a certain degree you're obviously hoping that they can add 20-30 pounds and maintain that athleticism so neither one is any guarantee, but both seem like they could be fairly good if they develop correctly. |
| 1 week 3 days ago | He was a great player and I |
He was a great player and I know reporters love questions about how X player might have been overshadowed or Y player might be underrated because he had a superstar teammate, but there's just no way that Timmy didn't benefit tremendously from being on the same team as Trey Burke. He's a great shooter, but if he was the focal point of the offense, he would have been asked to put it on the floor a lot more often and he would have struggled to do so. I think NBA scouts probably have an excellent beat on his skillset and he'll have a productive career, but not everyone has to be "underrated", some guys can just be "rated". |
| 1 week 5 days ago | Am I the only one that's |
Am I the only one that's afraid we just landed Will Gholston Jr? Obviously everyone you land isn't going to be a superstar, but I'm afraid the hype might exceed the talent here. And before you neg me, that's just like my opinion, man. |
| 2 weeks 7 hours ago | Well yes, they may be on the |
Well yes, they may be on the decline now as Beamer gets older, but the series doesn't start for another 7 years. Whose to say they don't have Foster or an entirely different coach who has them highly competitive and revitalized? Waaaayyyy too early to speculate as to the quality of the game at this point. |
| 2 weeks 8 hours ago | DC Alums |
Huge alumni base out here as well. I know a ton of alumni are going to be making the trip for this one so there should be a very strong Michigan presence as well. Should be fantastic. |

Certainly possible. Especially if he visits for Under the Lights Part Deux this fall. |

| 3 weeks 3 hours ago | So Braxton Miller and Devin |
So Braxton Miller and Devin Gardner are both putting in work with Whitfield, huh? When Big Ten defensive backs go to sleep tonight they better say a little prayer of thanks for Andrew Maxwell so that they can still get a few interceptions. And yes, he's worked with a laundry list of top QBs the past few years like Andrew Luck, Cam Newton, RGII, Johnny Manziel, Roethlisberger. The guy knows his stuff: |

| 3 weeks 3 days ago | OSU people are speculating |
OSU people are speculating that Hubbard isn't a linebacker. They were looking to bring in 3 and have told kids they're still looking for 2, thus Hubbard is either a DE or an H-Back/TE. |
| 3 weeks 3 days ago | You're missing the real |
You're missing the real issue. The real question about Big Ten expansion is: will Rutgers come into Michigan and steal the second-tier kids from MSU?! |
| 3 weeks 3 days ago | In case you didn't know, I |
In case you didn't know, I don't coach for Michigan, but... I would love to see them pass on a running back this year and use that offer for a fourth WR or a third LB and then in 2015 go all out on Mikey Webber and Damien Harris in 2015. It's a win/win for all parties really. |

I like Ways better than everyone but Da'Mario from the last class. If he develops well there's no reason he can't be very, very good. |
