"Coach Mattison told me what the Ravens were about, what he thought," Beyer said. "He definitely encouraged me. I hold his opinion in high regard."

Well Blazer already rolled up to a FIFA Executive Committee with a bugged keychain, providing much of the evidence from which these arrests were made.
He already done rolled.

I'll take your word for it -- I haven't read the books.
I definitely agree with you that cartoonish is a good way to describe how Dorne-related stuff has been treated in the show.
Except for Oberyn. And free-lovin', pre-head squashing Ellaria. Those two were boss.
|1 week 4 days ago||Sand snakes||
The name alone makes me suspicious that they're pretty cheesy and campy in the books too. And the idea sort of lends itself to one-dimensional presentation: "Look! Little girls, but they can fight! Neat!"
Also I think it's just gonna be hard to choreograph fight scenes between large adults and 100 lb mites unless the latter have martial arts training or something. But I agree that those were some lame sequences.
|1 week 4 days ago||Shitty episode||
1) The stuff with the Sparrows feels like a real stretch designed to keep Cersei relevant. Maybe the incredible rise to lower of the Church Militant makes sense in the books, but it seems rushed and far-fetched in the show.
2) The sand snakes -- and really, Dorne more broadly -- are embarrassingly campy. The costumes for Dornish guards look like they were raided from the Lion King musical rack. B-movie fantasy plot and dialogue abounds in Dorne for some reason.
3) Tyrion (and Jorah) being abducted and Tyrion talking his way into being kept alive feels like a variation of a theme we've seen many times by now. Maybe the whole point is to get the band back together with Varys, which is a worthy goal I suppose. But it felt forced.
4) Ending with Sansa's rape is making the creators of the show start to look almost sadistic towards viewers.
I like Baelish more and more as a character - he's slimy as hell, but he might be the smartest individual in Westeros. And the House of Black and White stuff was really well done. (The hall of faces - holy shit!) But overall this was not an enjoyable episode at all.
|1 week 4 days ago||???||
Who the fuck had any sympathy with Ramsay Bolton at any point?
Maybe the writers should also put lots of scenes in where Tyrion can't reach things on shelves to make sure there's no shred of doubt that he's a dwarf.
|1 week 4 days ago||Fascinating||
It used to be the case that it was de jure impossible to rape one's wife. A wife's body was essentially a possession of her husband's, and the act of marriage meant implied consent for life. Or, in other terms, marital sex was a legal right for husbands that could not be withheld by their wives.
I've never seen someone in the modern day defend that position before. So, uh, congrats.

Completely aside from the procedural problems related to university tribunals, this is an utterly wackadoo scenario.
What if there was a rape conspiracy concocted for the purpose of getting some poor sap expelled? This was a stupid plot line in Orange is the New Black, let alone in real life. And the honeypot/victim-seductress is keeping her comrades up to date with texts all along! BUT HOW DO WE GET OUR HANDS ON THOSE TEXTS?
|7 weeks 4 days ago||Morris||
I was pleasantly surprised with Morris, who had a few good plays beyond the fades to Darboh that were worth mentioning. He could easily have had 6-7 more completions if his receivers could hang onto the ball. I don't care how hard the ball is coming in - if you're a WR or a TE and the ball hit you in the hands (or the torso, or the helmet), you should've made the catch.

That is all.

I distinctly remember a throw in Peters' highlight video where the ball travels 65 yards in the air. If anything, he doesn't look like he has elite zip on intermediate throws, but his long ball is no joke.

If that's true, then the nation is fucking stupid. If you look at Carr's overall career he's one of the top 20 coaches of the last fifty years.
75% career win percentage, 19-8 vs. top ten opponents, six 10-win seasons, five conference championships, one national championship.
If the Hoke and Rodriguez era still haven't convinced people that what Lloyd accomplished is in fact really fucking hard to pull off -- yes, even at Michigan -- then those people have their heads up their ass.
|12 weeks 6 days ago||This is bunk||
Borges was one of the more articulate coaches I've heard in a press conference. And Mattison was great to listen to as well. True, the former was a tire fire as a coordinator, but let's be fair and accurate in our criticisms.
I really like Drevno's style, and it seems like he's got a great sense of humor. But I wouldn't say he was as articulate as Gorgeous Al. Also, I think you might be giving Funk short shrift because he looked like Catatonic Gary Busey. He never sounded particularly inarticulate to me, just monotone and boring.
But perhaps we can all find common ground upon the notion that Greg Jackson is toe to toe with Hoke himself in terms of elocution.

App. State was a big deal because of the symbolic weight it carried - and it's come to carry more and more, quite inappropriately in my opinion. That team went on to do some pretty decent things, including the Citrus Bowl win. And App. State would have beat that Toledo team any day if the week.
Toledo and 3-9 was infinitely worse than App. State.

I disagree with absolutely every expression of condemnation for any action taken against Mr. Weiss. I've seen that website. This person is a force for evil in this world. Hopefully it will remain smalltime, self-produced rap videos financed by mom and dad evil. Douchebag Evil.
But this is America, and that kind of evil, with enough energy and narcissisn behind it (esp. in combination with mom and dad's financial backing), can take one very far indeed.
I cannot stress this seriously enough. Unleash hell, and do so with an unblemished conscience.

Is the lazy accusation made every time things don't work out with a coach. It may be right every once in a while, but I didn't see any indications of it under Hoke. By contrast, it's really easy to see where inane coaching in terms of scheme and preparation was to blame. So I don't see any need to speculate about lack of effort in addition.

|15 weeks 2 days ago||Question||
Does anyone know whether passage of this measure in the CSG automatically means we'd start bearing it at sporting events? Would the AD or the band director or whoever just be able to just ignore this idiotic idea?
|15 weeks 2 days ago||Jesus||
I think this idea had sweet fuckall to do with political correctness. It had everything to do with some B-school shitheel thinking that putting his own brand on UM athletics would be mad trill.*
*I am over 30 years old, and I have no idea if this is an accurate parody of how said 19-20 yo shitheel might talk.

But I'd look at UFRs and game-by-game performance with Green. His App. St. numbers really distort his YPC.

I whimeheartedly agree re: the running backs. I'd bet a hefty sum that Isaac will be the workhorse from day 1. Green was underwhelming for a top recruit in his HS highlights, but his raw size/speed numbers earned him 5 stars. He's been below serviceable in two years here. I had higher hopes for Smith, but as you say he regressed over the course of the year too.
I'd predict Isaac and Higdon as 1 and 2, to be honest (would put Johnson at 2 if it wasn't for the injury.)

Since the slot is off the line, nickels can't press anyway, no? The bigger problem with Countess is run support.
|16 weeks 2 days ago||Sounds like rationalization||
But I don't see a whole lot of difference between Weber and Higdon based on highlights. Really similar runners, no? What do y'all think distinguishes the two? To me, Weber might be a bit faster, and Higdon a bit shiftier.
