"The University of Illinois is also in turmoil. The university sports an Interim Chancellor, an Interim Athletic Director, and an Interim Football Coach; the game will be played at Soldier Field, making this an Illini Interim Home Game."

He won't get the same tyle of classes at, say, Rutgers, of course. But he's still a good recruiter He certainly 'sold Michigan' better than Rodriguez did.

Let me be clear that I think Hoke needed to go.
But I don't know why people keep trotting out the 'one year less experience in the OL' stat as condemnation. One whole year less across the OL, the position where experience matters more than any except maybe QB, seems like kind of a big deal to me.

What an insightful and creative contribution!
|6 weeks 1 day ago||Breaston||
Pre-foot injury Breaston was about as fast as anyone I've seen for Michigan, except for maybe Denard. He lost a step after that, though.

If there's one thing Smith doesn't have trouble with, it's running through the tackles of defenders under 250 lbs.
|9 weeks 10 hours ago||Just wondering||
At any point, did anything about posting this picture in a discussion about a 17 year-old boy strike you as maybe, I don't know, a little weird? Creepy even?

I really think Gary is a special talent - better than McDowell or Hand. If his high school tape reminds me of one player, it's Ndamakong Suh. He has the choice of either depositing lineman behind the line of scrimmage OR beating them around the edge.

I wrote about how I have dreams about being a woman on him and hid him under my mattress.
Also he's really good at press coverage.

But if so, here's how I know you're wrong: you're the only one putting this explanation forward in this entire thread.

IT HAS NITHING TO DO WITH POLITENESS
IT'S JUST FUCKING DUMB.
IF YOU CAN THINK OF A WITTY WAY TO CALL PEOPLE FUCKSTICK TAINTGOBLINS IN A CHANT I'LL DEFEND YOU TO THE BITTER END.
WHY DO YOU THINK 'YOU SUCK' IS EDGY?? THOSE WHO DEFEND THIS CHANT SEEM LIKE THE ONES WHO CLUTCH PEARLS AND GASP AT ADOLESCENT ANTICS IN THIS PARTICULAR DEBATE.

I'm excited too!
|9 weeks 5 days ago||Word||
This post feels more like a backdoor way to slam Gardner than anything else. I'd fucking love to see Gardner be here for a coherent offense coached by top-shelf talent.
Don't care how long you've been around, bruh, you're saying nothing of value here.
|9 weeks 5 days ago||No one is worried that it's impolite||
It's just fucking stupid. It's the goddamn Early Season Bart Simpson of cheers.
'See ya,' by contrast, is 18x more obscene, but it's original and funny.
Dickhead first graders say 'you suck.' Using it as a chant is a vociferous declaration of being an unimaginative dickhead.
|9 weeks 5 days ago||Conflating two things||
I knew the dudes who were the weirdo claw zealots. They were trying to replace the standard 'first down' motion, which they thought looked like the FSU/Atlanta Braves chop thing. Had nothing to do with 'you suck' - which does, after all, consist of words and not an arm motion, and did not exist until at least 2005.

Absolutely did not happen to any significant degree in 2003, nor 2004.

Spielman also said that, with Harbaugh, the days of OSU's recent dominance are over, and that the programs will be even once again. Pretty bold statement considering OSU's record the past 3 years.
People who think Spielman is biased these days are going into the game looking for any example they can get, and ignoring all the complimentary things he says - when warranted - about Michigan.
|10 weeks 14 hours ago||I think it's funny when||
I think it's funny when people complain about Spielman's bias - he all but gave Michigan a tongue bath in this game.
Sean McDonough, on the other hand, is a mkserable, shaved fucking rat who clearly hates Michigan, and also visibly bristled when Spielman knocked the SEC.

I think there are two factors here. First, I think the players genuinely like and respect Hoke. But I'm also starting to get the sense that they were advised quite strongly that if they'd like to do anything in Michigan Stadium beyond running stadium steps they won't say anything negative about the previous staff.

But its provocative - it gets the people going!
|16 weeks 3 days ago||Mourning||
The day Rodriguez was fired, the light in Dudeness's soul was extinguished. I don't know if we will ever see it lit again.
|19 weeks 3 days ago||Bama mediocrity||
Doesn't matter if they jad lost for 20 years, there'd be plenty of fanatic 'bama bagmen to throw money around. People down there are 100% fucking nuts about the Tide. You can't apply normal, rational thought here.

That was Kelly Baraka.
Grady's went down a bottle.

That kid moves like a TE. A really good TE. And he seems to like to finish his blocks just a little bit.
|23 weeks 3 days ago||I personally don't think||
I personally don't think Malzone will be a starter, unless these other guys fail to develop. He's got the lowest ceiling, I think, even though he may also have the highest floor. Gentry and Viramontes are the opposite, with Peters somewhere in the middle.
With the kind of coaching QBs are gling to het here, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Viramontes become a star someday. He's a much better runner than Gentry, and he's got raw arm talent - if the mechanics can be fixed, look out. Also, his level of HS competition is the highest of anyone we've got on the roster, no?
|23 weeks 6 days ago||James Franklin hype||
If you look at his record, he has maybe one really impressive win at Vandy, beating #15 ranked Georgia at home. His only top-25 win, if I'm not mistaken.
Making Vanderbilt decent, which he did, is not something to sniff at. But Franklin is far from the worldbeater he's made out to be. Looking at his last season as OC under Friedgen, his offense didn't seem to score much against any of the non-tomato can teams they played.
I'd take Jerry Kill over Franklin, even if I didn't factor in the latter's Douchebag Multiplier, which is substantial.
|23 weeks 6 days ago||Obvious answer||
He just wants to be coached by dynamic offensive mastermind Mike Debord down in Knoxville. What top recruit wouldn't?
|24 weeks 6 hours ago||Yeah||
Everyone's really drinkin' the kool aid (sweet tea?) with that one.
Of course, it would universallly be dismissed as bullshit if we weren't recruiting in the South and someone else said it.
|24 weeks 6 hours ago||Yeah, cosign||
He's a beast in press coverage, loves to hit, amd seems to have a great deel for the game.
But his backpedal and his change of direction seem subpar. Choppy, awkward footwork. Hard to tell what his straight line speed is from the video, but it doesn't appear to be bad by any means.
Maybe he projects best as a safety? Any expert opinions out there?
