Beautiful game. I commend…

Beautiful game. I commend the entire team an coaching staff. But, that Shea usually had little time to get his pass away or was scrambling left me with concern for tougher teams to come. Similarly, i was not seeing the level of pressure on the WMU quarterback i would have like to see from the D-line. Still, it is early in the season.

Michigan Man

Spike, You are a Michigan Man. Thank you.

The Defense will most definately be better

I agree that the defense will be better because it would be incredibely hard for them to be worse.  Even if they aren't coached well (which they will be) with another year under their belts and the law of averages, they will be better.  Kicking?  Depends on the personnel.  Denard...I think he is being underestimated.  His problem last year ultimately was that he had trouble making quick decisions on the fly while under pressure.  Thats the result of being a first year starter.  That will improve.  When he was not under pressure, he could throw as good as any pro-style quarterback, just maybe not as far.  Here is what I wonder about the Borges offense in 2011...what's he gonna do with all those slot receivers? And who will be the power running back...Hopkins?...maybe.  Actually, I am looking forward to all this, and hopeful.

Borges needs to understand one important thing...

There is a huge question mark about whether Borges can be flexible enough to work with the current talent on Michigan's offense.  But there is one thing he needs to really understand.....the fan base love Denard.  Regardless of what fans haves said positively or negatively about Rich Rod or whether they wanted a change or not, every fan wanted one thing.  They wanted Denard to stay.  The point is, Borgess doesn't have to "try" to fit his offensive approach to the current Michigan players skill set......he has to.  Fans will not appreciate Denard being left on the side line or sitting in the pocket and dumping passes that aren't there.  The fans want to see him mix the offense and they want to see Denard run the ball when it is the best choice.  And Borges needs to prescribe plays that make it the best choice.  Winning is still most important, but winning and Denard shining...with a chance at the Heisman.....Hoke will be a hero.

Recruiting and the offensive line

I agree that recruiting and retention are key.  Honestly...aside from Denard, Rich Rod did a lowsy job at this.  Hoke seems to have potential in this arena.

I think the change you will see in the OL is that  the "Smash Mouth" power offense will return.  Spread is all about trickery on the line.  Distracting the defense from the play.  If the OL can play smash mouth again, either denard or the running backs will find holes to run through.

David Brandon, Hoke and the other candidates

First, David Brandon should not have been a part of that press conference introducing Hoke. Of course he had to be there, but he was sleep deprived, punchy and in no shape to handle the media.  He came accross badly.  That said, I think folks are reading way too much into what he said and what LSU has been saying.  If you are discussing a potential job with someone, the question of payment may or may not come up.  If it does, you have to be willing to discuss those numbers.  Les Miles asks "what would you pay me if I came"...David Brandon throws out "4 million".  Sorry folks, THATS NOT A JOB OFFER!  That is a discussion.  Regarding Harbaugh: Maybe Brandon was referring to him when he said "All that glitters is not gold"  Ya'll remember when Harbaugh made a comment a few years back about academics and student athletes at Michigan?  I recall the Wolverine Nation wanted to hang him.  They were saying he should never come back given his attitude.  Now the same jerks are pissed he didn't come.  Brandon was right from the beginning.  Harbaugh had his eyes on the NFL.  He wasn't offered because he wasn't interested.  I'd put myself somewhere between cotton pickin' blues and fierce pragmatist.  Good luck Hoke!

Goudis

Wanted to come to UM because the academics were so good.  Gues that was a bunch of bull....Miami??? Aint much for academics there.  I don't think he would have been that good.
