I look forward to the NCAA insta-banning this next year by request from the SEC and ACC.
|7 hours 17 min ago||Easily one of the two biggest||
Easily one of the two biggest names left on our board.
Big time visit to a big time recruit.
If anyone can steal someone of this caliber from Mississippi and the SEC, it's Jim Harbaugh.
Also, Aubrey Solomon. Thanks. No pressure Jim!
|1 day 12 hours ago||I was at the game||
My thoughts and analysis:
Kurt Taylor looked like a RB version of Peppers. Kid is 100% muscle, and a super encouraging kid on the sidelines. Had an impressive KO return, and some decent runs behind shaky OL play all game. He was chatting up Nico on the sidelines a lot pre game, but not so much in-game.
I didn't notice Ross at all, not sure if he played, but it was tough to find him out there if he did play.
Chuck and Phil both played OL, Chuck at RT and Phil at RG and LG. I don't know anything about grading OL play, but Chuck looked good straight up 1v1 blocking, but if they tried anything fancy like pulling him to block interior stuff or getting him in space, it just didn't work at all.
I'd give Dylan a B+ in this game. His receivers couldn't get open, it was crazy windy, and his interior OL couldn't block. He had some nice deep balls better receivers catch, he had some poor decisions under pressure, and he looks like a good runner. I'd agree he needs to work on building muscle before he starts at Michigan.
The two kids that stood out to me all night were Epenesa and the running back #5 Wedington. Of course they both won MVP, defensive for AJ, and offensive for Wedington.
Also, the crowd was super disappointed that Mariota couldn't make it due to having surgery recently, and that Tua couldn't play because he's an EE at bama. I suspect the game would have higher scoring if he played.

Who would have thought NW and Illinois would have our back. Makes sense with Lovie and Pat running the shows.
Spineless Urban, Mork, and Franklin of course didn't support the student athletes and Michigan. What else is new.

And I think Filiaga gets time at RT this year. He may not start right away, but I bet he plays enough early and becomes a starter by week 6ish

247 has an interesting Top 10. They seem to value big boys in the trenches:
1. OT Walker Little - 103
4 offensive linemen and 4 defensive linemen is their Top 11.
The 247 Compositie has the following:

I think he's referring to the game at Minnesota, where MSU won 75-74 in OT without Miles Bridges. The game where Minnesota couldn't stop Nick Ward (22 points) in the post, senior weird guy Alvin Ellis puts up 20 on 7/13 shooting, and weird guy Tum Tum puts up 13 as the only other spartan in double digits.
Minnesota had that game and they just choked. Minnesota shot 31-45 from the FREE THROW LINE in that game. Yikes.

I think the obvious thing we as fans point to is inconsistency against the tough teams on our schedule. He had some great moments against OSU and FSU. He had some terrible moments against Iowa, OSU, and FSU.
Most notably I think is the accuracy of the deep ball. I think we all saw in our three losses, if we can't scare a defense with a deep threat, they'll stack the box, take away our middling running game, and jump our crossing routes.
What I'm most interested in is seeing him develop chemistry with a basically brand new receiving group.
Deep threats are Crawford, Harris, Peoples-Jones, Black, and Hawkins.
That pecking order will need to be figured out quickly, so Speight can start developing chemistry with the starters.

|1 week 3 days ago||My high expectations for this||
My high expectations for this season have evaporated.
I'll eat my crow. I predicted a top 3 finish in the B1G, the senior duo of Walton and Irvin would destroy all challengers, and Michigan would be looking at a possible B1G regular season, BTT, and Final Four type season.
Just making the NCAAT would be a giant overachievement for this squad.
This downward trajectory is demoralizing; it's showing in the players, the coaches, and the fans. If the culture of this team doesn't change, then I think we need to look for a new voice to take over this program.

That would be a heck of a story if he came back and was an impact OT this year.
I'm all for it if Harbaugh and Co are willing to take him back.

But I am hoping to get an autograph from Marcus Mariota and Ronnie Stanley.
And I'll be there decked out in my Michigan gear. Michigan is well represented with the following commits there:

I can talk to Nico Collins at the Polynesian Bowl coming up on Jan 21.
I'm sure if Harbaugh doesn't get through to him on his visit, I'll be able to sway him to Go Blue!

My vote is McDoom . I don't think you want your starting RB back there returning kicks (Evans).
I think it'll be McDoom and/or Hudson. Whoever has better hands.
|1 week 6 days ago||I was most surprised by the||
I was most surprised by the "trickery" in the 4th quarter by both offenses. Alabama had a WR pass to a TE go for 30 yards, and Clemson did a WR screen lateral thing go for 5 yards.
Also, having a QB that can gash a team on the ground seems to work pretty well. It also helps when you give them huge WR/TE downfield who can continually win jump-balls.

And you didn't think adding those meaningless B1G games to your schedule of events today. I knew that PSU/MSU game would be a good one. Also IU looking to get their first conference win against a good Illinois team.

Opponent in 2017: Check. Trap game on the road between MSU and PSU.

I know Clemson is in SC, but they basically have the same access to Georgia HS talent as UGA does. Kind of like how OSU can poach the state of Michigan, and Michigan/MSU/PSU/ND can poach the state of Ohio. Now obviously the in-state college has an advantage (exhibit A: This years haul for Michigan in Michigan, and Ohio State in Ohio).

I'm hoping Kugler gets his 5th year.
We'll be extremely left handed, but that shouldn't be a problem. I think this is my favorite starting 5 as of right now.

I like that we have a healthy redshirt freshman Peppers as a specialist. Espcially when the older, redshirt sophomore Peppers as a Viper is walking wounded and NFL draft eligible.

This isn't a Najee Harris tea leaves front page post. When should we expect a Najee Harris tea leaves front page post?

Speculating that both Samuels and Taylor would decommit if we landed Harris is exactly what we don't condone on this board.
We can get back to this conversation sometime in February once the recruiting dust settles.

Regardless of what happens, this is pretty awesome.
How often does the #1 recruit stay media-silent? I love the way he is handling his recruitment with class and maturity.
Just going to show up and get to work. No hats. No helmets. No videos.
Good luck wherever you go, and I hope you laid the foundation for future recruits on how to handle the pressure of one of the most important decisions you're going to make.
