3 years 21 weeks ago	Factors for Maris	1. He was healthy pretty much for the first time the whole year. 2. The short porch in right at Yankee Stadium. 3. Probably most importantly...expansion. Pitching was watered down.
3 years 21 weeks ago	All the time?	I can think of two in the last twelve years. McGwire and Edmonds. Matt Holliday certainly didn't take a discount. The Cardinals were basically bidding against themselves and gave him a huge contract. Sorry, but the "hometown discount" is as much a myth as the reputation Cardinal fans have as being the best in baseball.

3 years 31 weeks ago	Running Clock	"Oops. Why does the clock keep running after penalties like this?" I was thinking the same thing during the game. Is this supposed to happen? If so, I guess I never paid attention. This would be a great way to run out the clock before the half if you were on offense and just wanted to "get into the locker room". Just keep purposely false starting and the clock would keep running with a new play clock. At the very least it would force your opponent to burn a timeout they would have been able to use on offense.
3 years 32 weeks ago	Non timeout	Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Illinois had the wind in that situation so that would play into the decision not to take the timeout. The other factor was the earlier muffed punt, so I figured RichRod just wanted to keep momentum and the lead going into halftime and not risk the fact that we can't HOLD ON TO THE DAMN BALL!

The side judge is right there and his foot is on the white part. Unless you want to count the coach who is also in the white part of the field as on the field?"

3 years 37 weeks ago	I understand	I tell myself that as well as the fact that this will keep Weis around longer...both good things. However, I think it's the way they won (win) plus the 30+ years of hatred that boils over.

3 years 37 weeks ago	Illinois is brutal	Not only will you see plenty of "Muck Fichigan" shirts, but you'll see ones with the correct lettering. I won't take my kids to the game, but I'll be there. Good luck.
3 years 40 weeks ago	Trouble...	Thanks for the insight. I'm hoping to catch a replay on Universal HD because I didn't see much of the game and didn't TiVo it. This is the quote that's troubling and, of course I immediately thought about it watching the Floyd highlights... "We need a big game from our safeties." I guess I'm a pessimist, but I just don't see it. I hope I'm wrong, and I also really hope we can score first and HOLD ON TO THE GODDAMN BALL. That would be nice.
