If true...

This is a very unusual match-up for the Sugar Bowl. This bowl usually has a more southern flavor. These two teams just don't make sense. Just glancing at previous match-ups, Va Tech has been there three times in the past 20 years and played Texas, Auburn, and Florida State. But this is the ever changing era of the BCS, so whatever happens makes sense because it must.

Interesting match up...

...between two programs with first year coaches trying to clean up messes left behind by predecessors. The Irony Bowl.

Cheaper!

How about you get paid 75 bucks to go???  (Assuming this is legit)

Celebration?

I think it is unfair to classify that celebration at the end of the game as disrespectful. Clearly it was Michigan players all faking injuries to avoid shaking hands.

Aren't they worried that he

Aren't they worried that he will alert Ted Sarniak and then wait months before the Colts find out they should have challenged the play?

Amazing

This would be unprecedented use of snoke oil

Reminds me....

Unrelated, but Khadafi says he will retain his entire cabinet through the next fair and open elections.

I agree with all, but the

I agree with all, but the scary thing here is that this is an immature kid who operated in a system that let this go on until it exploded.

Reason I say scary is that he's on the wrong side of a fanbase that has more than its share of fringe idiots. Herbstreit left the state for speaking his opinion. Writers at the school paper have been getting threats for a news story. This kid, whose crime was being sloppier than those before him, is about to get the downfall of the program heaped on his sholders.

Now let's see if "father-figure" Tress and OSU steps up and takes the rightful share blame. Pryor's only why they got caught. He's not a whistleblower or outsider bringing down the  OSU machine. He was their marquee player as of a couple days ago - the face of the program facing suspension for violating minor NCAA rules. Now it's all changed. I don't like him. I'm glad he chose OSU. But I can't help but wonder if this kid understands what's about to happen here if someone doesn't step up.

For the year????

Suspended for the season at tsio? I didn't read the article, but he must have committed something like high treason? master-minded a mass terror plot? Email forwarding?

Personally, I don't mind this

Personally, I don't mind this wound slowly festering into a giant sweater-vest shaped scar on that program. Awaiting NCAA punishment is a punishment in itself. Maybe not the big H-bomb some expect, but it is a slow, damaging erosion.

As we know, uncertainity hurts recruiting as bad as anything.

Real damage control

Sorry, I don't buy this has anything to do with satisfying the NCAA. That shameful presser was so condescending and arrogant, OSU believes they yanked the NCAA's chain enough that the are GOOD. Scott free!

This has everything to do with a coach trying to save a little face in the locker room before Spring practice begins. Tressel threw the Tat Five under the bus and is backpedaling before things behind the scenes spin out of control. There's already been murmurs of upset families wondering about the fairness of coach getting less than players. This is how coaches lose entire teams. This has nothing to do with the NCAA - Gene Smith already hit the "sweet spot."

Just my opinion, but I trust nothing coming out of Columbus as anymore than cheap PR. This is no different.

I thought

I thought it was a beautiful thing. I mean Ohio State's coach had a press conference in March with the opener, "So there was this federal drug probe..." And then rambles along like the last days of Lenny Bruce going on about getting caught in the system, victimized...blah, blah, blah.  I hope Coach Hoke goes on a tour of Ohio and eats baked goods in the home of every target and shows them the difference between Michigan and Ohio State. I love it. Bring on the NCAA investigation, the two games, the five games, this will go on and on....

If you read on

I heard he can stay coach, but is no longer being considered for Two and a Half Men. Too controversial.

(I know. A week two Sheen joke. Easy on the negs please)

Well done MgoPosters!

+1 to everyone for avoiding the obvious Michael Vick jokes so far. Still too soon.

I think this scenario has

I think this scenario has already played out in reverse. RR had much more support than dissent when hired. He had my support. Dissent goes away with success. But as the evidence grew against him, the support has waned. Rich is a good guy and he's paid very well to be the guy who gets blamed. He's not the victim of a system stacked against him.

Mike Singletary's salary

Mike Singletary made the same salary as RR. Do the 49ers spend much more on another first time NFL coach? SF has other coach options if they have to spend more money anyway. Besides, Michigan has some advantages over NFL even if money might not be one of them.

what about...

might be controversial but what about Rex Ryan to come in and help out with kickers? And part-time film coordinator.

What about...

Mike Haywood? Undefeated at Pittsburgh. No points allowed. Firm handed.

Truthfully...

I got panicked over this for about a minute, but that's the appropriate response. It's a fair question but it can't be easy to give 'what if' type responses right now.

Perhaps I have missd this but

Perhaps I have missed this but is Gardner's medical redshirt a done deal? Last I knew it had to be applied for. Or is it a formality due to his reported injury and lack of playing time?

Alternative

Supposedly you can turn on the "Dark Side of the Moon" and sync it up to the "Wizard of Oz." Might work for the Rose Bowl too?

Just for the sake of karma,

Just for the sake of karma, please specify that you mean Gerg Robinson.

black helicopters?

He didn't specify which rumors, hmmm? A closer reading of this tweet suggests he's responding to rumors of bad eggnog or rumors that Gene Smith spends too much time watching NBA games.

Seriously. Hasn't twitter made the world so strange???

So pointless

I understand the altercation grew from a discussion over who is the best Scrooge with one claiming Alistair Sim and the other going with Albert Finney. There's no resolving that with words alone.

It's a festivus miracle

This news is as goudis it gets

Time are tough

Players' plight? Only five years ago, my OSU pals explained that this news story could be any college student anywhere. Whahappen?!

According to a Columbus Division of Police report, the burglary occurred sometime between Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. and Nov. 23 at 8 p.m.

Hawk, Mangold, and a third roommate, Jonathan Thomas, told police that their apartment in the 100 block of West Norwich Avenue was broken into and about $3,000 in cash, $1,425 in movies, two laptop computers, a $500 Gucci watch, two Microsoft X-Box games valued at a total of $500, a Sony Playstation game valued at $250 were taken.

blast

I was hoping this thread pertained to how knowledge of bowl games could lead to opening lines with women. It's like when I though Bodog was the website where the Obama's got thier dog. I must look into this sports betting.

Old news

This was buried in the wikileaks document drop last week. Word is Karzai is taking Michigan and the points. Degenerate gambler he is...

Home liver advantage

Not a fair contest considering the poor condition of most buckeye livers. Thousands probably turned away.

Seriously, Very nice. My cousin's life was saved by a liver donation and the good people at the University of Michigan who were all first class. Go Blue always.

Ugly is only part of it

If you gave Carrot top "props" on purpose, that is funnier than anything carrot top has ever done.

I'm so pissed

I've tried and tried to look past MGoBlog's constant anti-Whig agenda, but I can't any longer. I read this blog for UM sports news, not to have someone's politics rammed down my throat. Consider this my goodbye.

So?

What do you expect? There is no more sad and pathetic fan base than that of the University of Ohio State. Writers like this are typical of the fans I know that define themselves more by their hatred of all things Michigan than their enjoyment of anything buckeye. I was in Columbus for signing day last February and was worried I would get any Michigan news not having an internet connection. Geez, I was overwhelmed by Michigan recruiting news. They are obsessed!
So let them revel in their statistical anomaly. The truth we aren't going anywhere and will be here to remind them when the natural order is restored.

Speaking of Toledo

I live here. For Toledoans, travel to Columbus is a constant thorn in the side. That's what amuses me about university of ohio state (Pryor's term, not mine) fans here. There literally is no way to Columbus from here to catch a game. Those that try set out from town like they're making a summit push up Everest - except buckeye fans carry whiskey instead of oxygen canisters. It is no wonder the locals are so frustrated and angry. I'm proud to say that Toledo was part of Michigan before Ohio was tricked into taking it. And there is still no decent road to the capitol.
