I can't think of any that were stars their 1st year, except McGary who wasn't a guard. Even that guy who was the best player in college basketball didn't win it until his second year. There's a steep learning curve moreso than a lot of schools.
I think if he comes it will be to compete for a starting job but understanding it may not happen.
|4 days 7 hours ago||First time & last time||
I started experimenting with it in HS. It was actually easier to get than alcohol but I lived in a college town. My buddy and I scored our 1st baggie and went to the river to enjoy it. We had both tried it before but this was the 1st time we were gonna smoke a lot.
We played with Roman Candles and had a generally great time until we got REALLY hungry. My mother was still at work so we made a commando run to my house, raided the fridge, and went up to my room to listen to Pink Floyd.
The next morning my mother comments we must have been really hungry since we pretty much emptied the fridge. Then she asks if I want to go driving (I had just gotten my permit). I was still feeling high from the night before so technically the first time I drove I was intoxicated. I know, bad idea but I didn't have much choice.
By 20 I gave up on it and moved on with life. I don't see it as good or bad. Many of the people I toked with also moved on but a few haven't and haven't grown up yet either. Big boy responsibilities and the law keep me from celebrating this holiday.

Sorry for the lack of paragraphs. I'm on the android app today.

" we will probably end up at a price that was very similar to where we started, for fewer channels. But, it at least gives consumers freedom/choice."
This is the ultimate endgame. when the judge broke up ma bell into the babies it was B'rer Rabbit begging not to be thrown into the briar patch. It allowed the regional bells flexibility and allowed to successful ones to remerge without all the accounting gimmics. This is how Verizon was born from NYNEX and Bell Atlantic merging.
The part that I find disconcerting as someone who works in telecom is that right now there is a huge pipe available via FIOs but what to fill it with?
Netflix has more customers for streaming that less than $10/mo. Appointment television is dying and live sports are the only reason left for a cable provider between the consumer and producer.
Bandwidth is a commodity and with apps like Kodi/XBMC one doesn't necessarily need a TV provider. I am looking very hard at the sling offering from Dish for $20/month coupled with Kodi as the end of my TV provider.

You don't talk to anyone like that, for ANY reason. Also she obviously feels entitled because she hit the genetic lottery because she's attractive, smart(?), and had the opportunity to go to college...none of which she had much to do with.
|1 week 3 days ago||What finally ended his NFL||
What finally ended his NFL career was the missed block that got Steve Young nearly killed. Going from memory Young never played another snap, the niners went on to suck until Harbaugh arrived, and the NFL started paying cursory attention to predraft "warning signs".

My wife wanted to go to the baseball game and out to dinner for her birthday. I'm a lucky guy.
It was a beautiful day, a beautiful stadium, and about 80% of the seats were empty. They are running a promotion coming up for $5 and a student ID you get in to the game and access to a unlimited buffet. I don't know if it's a PSU thing, northern thing, or baseball just has no support.
It was really neat to see some of the players that were freshmen when I last took my son out there playing as seniors now. The team seems to be in flux with no go-to guy at the moment but there is a few that I can see taking over that role as they mature.
I miss seeing Crank play.

We just saw it take 3/4 of a season for the current crop of freshman to pick it up. It's not your average HS offense. I don't think a kid can come in and be a star his 1st year. Well, maybe a true 5 that only has to run the floor, set screens, get rebounds, and attack the basket ala McGary.
That's why I don't see Brown coming.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||No matter how much you save it won't be enough||
We've been saving for both of my kids in 529's for 10+ years now. The pace of college inflation has far outpaced my contributions and returns in those 529's. My son graduates in June and we've been discussing his options.
He was accepted to George Mason and really wants to go there because of the location. I thought out of state tuition was brutal until I saw in-state at PSU was very close to the same. We discussed his options and he is weighing them right now. I think, and I believe he is leaning towards, working for a year then going to school would be good for him.
He is a young graduate (turns 18 and graduates same day) and has some maturing to do before he goes to school, imho. I don't think he'd take the same route as MGrow's 22yo but he also never had to work hard for anything. I think a year of a crappy job will help him to appreciate why he's going and the expense.
Anyway, I'm sorry I got off subject. We're in 529's and I like that the beneficiary can be changed. So, if mine decides to become a male exotic dancer I can easily switch the benificiary to my daughter or even a grandchild if that should happen sooner rather than later.

It's good for Maryland and good for the conference he is coming back. He's one of the non-Michigan players I really enjoy watching and makes them instant contenders.

If I were the Texas AD I'd have the Brinks truck parked in front of Greg Marshall's house when discussing the opening. That is the only slam-dunk hire for Texas IMHO.
But, I've read the Texas AD is very DB-like and will make a DB-like hire instead of the best hire.
Smart is a one trick pony and now that teams have seen that press enough it isn't as daunting.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Not from Texas||
Texas is a good job but I don't see it as a destination basketball school yet. OU and ISU are going to be ending the Kansas dynasty very soon.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||Not trolling||
Not gonna google stats so it's from shaky memory. I remember CWebb as the pot smoking discipline problem in Washington that played in Sacramento as if it was his last shot and for a few years reached his potential.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||Small Steps||
"My only concern is whether a guy like Rudock has what it takes to beat the OSU's of the world."
I'll be happy with a Qb that has what it takes to beat Utah, Minnesota, Rutgers, and Maryland at this point.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||I'll believe CWebb on this||
He speaks from experience. If there is anyone who is an expert at underachieving in the NBA it would be Webber.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||Primed for Success||
I think Texas will be a plum job. The historic football program is down right now so the buzz generated by a good basketball will be readily embraced. Almost like what Michigan went through with JB's hiring.
I looked at the list of underachieving coaches. Jamie Dixon along with Barnes are two coaches to never take in the tournament and stats bear it out. I talked myself into Villanova this year and paid for it. I see Jay Wright deservedly on there with the other two.
|3 weeks 6 days ago||More 3 than 4||
If JB can make it work with a 6'4" power forward and a 6'7" center I trust he can make this work. To me it just looks like a backup date to the prom in case they whiff on everyone else.
Could also be Levert is leaving and they want another body in the rotation in case of injury. Even though JB never loses kids to the draft or injury, right?
|4 weeks 1 day ago||Agreed. Parents are the dealbreaker||
My wife's 1st husband was Air Force. My plan was to flee Pennsyltucky. She said, "I want to stay close to my parents. 17 years later we're still here and I still don't want to be here.
OP's only hope may be that she would only be 2 hours from her parents airport-to-airport.
|4 weeks 1 day ago||Great news||
He was one of the high points last year and when healthy could challenge for the #1 spot.
As a side note, my dog just had ACL surgery last Friday. She can't be off a leash or climb stairs for 16 weeks. It's frustrating for us and her. I would imagine the limits placed on a D1 athlete would be almost as stressful as the surgery itself.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||Nolan Richardson should be on the list||
0% graduation rate. ZERO!
Huggins too. I don't know if he made Cincinnati slimy or the other way around but it's still on both of them.
|4 weeks 4 days ago||Antenna won't work either||
We're in a deadspot for any OTA broadcasts too. My parents get all the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton OTA broadcasts and the HD looks much better than Dish.
|4 weeks 4 days ago||Not Ready for Prime Time||
I've been looking at this since last fall and I just don't think the providers are ready yet. The March Madness app has proved it to me since the picture quality is generally horrible. Often I can't even read the scores, and that's on multiple networks.
I really don't watch TV much except Walking Dead, which I'm getting ready to dump, Bates and Saul. The rest of the week is spent reading or doing things around the house. As soon as it gets warmer I won't be inside until bed.
Wife and kids are the hangup for now but I have 2 FireSticks and they are getting more and more used to the content on there.
|4 weeks 4 days ago||The real money is in running the pool||
Just like the house in Vegas.
I am in one with ~3000 people every year. The guy that runs it puts right on the paper he charges a $1.75 fee per entry.
|4 weeks 5 days ago||I really want to watch that game but Gottlieb ruins it.||
He runs his mouth so much even ESPN didn't want him. That says alot considering Dookie V and Bilas are still there.
I absolutely need OU or I'm probably out of the money this year. I like Lon Kruger as a coach too.
|5 weeks 2 days ago||That's the plan||
They are playing for draft picks now.
|5 weeks 2 days ago||This team||
Last spring nobody expected to see this team on the floor this season. Not the fans, not the players, and certainly not the coaches. For the first time in a few years we all know who will be the players on the floor next year with the exception of Caris. What a wonderful thing to anticipate.
This year was a bit of a bummer and seemed to be a step back. But next year will certainly be two steps forward since they all have a year of experience of playing against high level competition. As a basketball junkie I have loved watching these kids grow into Division 1 basketball players. All the coaches did a great job.
|5 weeks 3 days ago||The World is Full of Dumbasses||
I don't blame a school, fraternity, or anyone but the individuals for stupid shit that happens. Unfortunately this gives more ammo to the anti-greek crowd.
My son graduates this year. I would be appalled if he were involved in something like this. As his parent, I hope that his mother and I have done enough so that he could understand this is just a very-very bad idea. IF he happens to find a girl foolish enough to show her girlie parts to him he best keep his mouth shut about it as it should only be between him and her.
I also have a daughter who is 10. Her mother and I will do everything in our power to make her understand that she shouldn't put herself in those situations to begin with before she is off on her own. This isn't about blaming the victim or any of that bullcrap that gets thrown out when someone questions what the victim was doing. Just questioning the thought process of all involved.
This is about young adults being dumbasses and if they didn't know any better than their parents are dumbasses too.
|5 weeks 4 days ago||It's over||
Love the kid and what he stands for but playing football isn't in his future. Time to use that Michigan degree and make the world a better place. I wish him nothing but success in life but it's time to begin the next phase. It's what we all do after graduation.
I figured it was over when, despite the hype at the Senior Bowl, he was nowhere to be found in the game stats.
|6 weeks 9 hours ago||Lots of Growth||
I only saw this team in person once this year. It was early at PSU. When I posted my scouting/observations one of the biggest things that stood out was Rahk and to a larger extent, Dawkins, not knowing the playbook.
At times they both looked lost but at that time Rank was clearly ahead of Dawkins in terms of knowing what to do in JB's system. As the year progressed they both made major advances because the team needed them to do it. I wonder if we saw the sophomore jump while they were playing as freshman?
I still don't know what to think about Chatman. Too many times he gets lost on defense. I think more than anyone he needed a redshirt.
The team my son's team just lost to in the PIAA-A sweet 16 has a kid helping who was on the roster last year and who has signed with PSU. Per another coach who was scouting, he is going to prep school for a year because PSU wanted him to play against higher level and bigger competition.
I'm guessing that is the majority of Chatman's problems as well since he came from a smaller school.
|6 weeks 11 hours ago||Scalping Laws are Stupid||
The enforcement is so arbitrary there may as well be no law anyway.
Look at it from a stadium perspective. They just want to sell seats and don't give a crap who is in them. Season ticket holders are #1 priority and they're taken care of, student tickets are also taken care of, so really we're only discussing poor schlubs and casual fans who want to buy 1see or 2sees. Scalpers insure those tickets are available.
Seems to me scalpers shift the risk from the stadium to the scalper. By buying large blocks of available tickets the scalper is taking the risk of not being able to sell them or the price plummeting.
