|2 days 3 hours ago||she's good at what she does||
The women's division is extremely weak. They are already having trouble finding compelling matchups for her. The next fight will either be the 3rd matchup with someone she's beaten 2x already (Tate) or the boxer that made her (unimpressive) debut last weekend, Combs.
I watched it streaming live and it didn't freeze or skip at all. That never happens so I think the interest is already waning. At least when Silva or GSP were dominating there was enough quality in the division to make the fights interesting to watch.

Nike sweatshirt from 1997 season. Wore it while attending and living next to football team at PSU. I still wear it for big games.

It was beautiful to watch Sparty blow a 6 or 7 point lead very late in the game because they kept fouling shooters. The last 3 minutes was a clinic of what not to do to win a basketball game. For having such an alleged great coach they sure played like an undisciplined/poorly coached team.

A BigTen day followed by PAC12 at night would be an ideal Saturday. ESPN is too busy knobbing for the SEC now. BigTen is only an afterthought for them.

But, what exactly did Gardner get from having brooms swatted at him by Whitfield and staff?
|2 weeks 1 day ago||MgoPoints?||
Edit....Strange, earlier I replied to a post that showed working online making enough to buy a BMW is 6 weeks. Now the post I was responding to has completely changed.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Tired||
A long BigTen season of playing with a short bench has caught up to them. Too many OT games without a W. They all look exhausted. Last year the majority of these kids where still dominating inferior HS talent and thinking about who to take to the prom.
NIT seems more of a reach every day and that's fine. More games with a short bench full of tired underclassmen probably isn't going to help.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||I stand corrected||
I assumed 40min was same as /game. I still have no problem with keeping players eligible for end of game rather than winning 1st half.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||It's not his offense that is troubling||
His defense is spectacularly bad. The majority of the time down the court he still, at this point in the season, doesn't know who to guard or where to go! The other freshman are now pointing it out to him. So, everyone on the court has to guard 1-1/2 people nearly every trip down because Chatman doesn't know what to do.
If anything he reminds me of the backup PG on my sons team. The coaches want him to play the point when the starter is subbed out but it is obvious he doesn't know the plays. He's a Jr and in line to be the starter next year because of graduation. When he's on the floor with the other starters the team is disjointed and out of sync.
I asked my son what he looks like in practice. He said he's fine there because they know the sets and run them one or two at a time against a known defense.
Maybe like OP says, Chatman looks good in practice?
|2 weeks 6 days ago||Chatman is still awful||
I missed the opening tip but saw him playing early. Did he start?
I also saw his typical run back and play defense which consists of running in a circle near the foul line looking for someone to guard. Last night I believe it was Rahk who pointed where to go, but Illinois also saw the open man at the block for an easy layup.
He may have the physical tools to play at this level but I am not seeing a player that has grown at all during the season. He is a defensive liability and his offense isn't good enough to cancel out his negatives...not even close. I didn't watch much Lonergan but what I remember was enough that if I were JB I'd seriously consider putting him ahead of Chatman in the rotation.
Does anyone do UFR's anymore for basketball?
|2 weeks 6 days ago||Bad stat||
I believe they are under 5 fouls/40min because of JB. If anything, that stat proves the "autobench" is the proper call because it keeps them eligible for the end of the game.
|3 weeks 52 min ago||Not seeing the outrage||
The last 2 Athletic Director hires at Michigan had zero experience as an Athletic Director but I don't think it would be a stretch if the were boosters. Did FREEP run a story, "Michigan Hires Booster With no Experience as New AD"
|3 weeks 1 hour ago||LL baseball =NCAA or worse.||
I work in Williamsport, coached LL, and was a league president. LL is every bit as disgusting as the NCAA. Only focusing on the LLWS for a minute...
These kids travel from all over the world to play in a tournament televised on ESPN/ABC who pay a lot of money for it. They also sell all kinds of deals to be the Official XXX of Little League baseball. Where does the money go? LL, unlike the NCAA, is not even making an effort to get the parents here! Last year the Korean team onlynhad one parent present because the rest could not afford the trip. Fortunately they were "adopted" by the local Korean community.
Where does the money go? Despite what you hear on TV the local population isn't overly enamoured with LL. When Carl Stotz started it LL really was about the kids. In the beginning it was held here in Williamsport. After a few years it was realized that there was a ton of $ to be made and and eventually LL moved across the river to "The Palace" in South Williamsport, it's present location.
Stotz quit/got booted from the organization he started because it had been taken over by those who saw $. He came back over to Williamsport and started Original Little League on the same field as the original incarnation. By then it was too late since what he had built became the money machine you are familiar with today. Original League still exists but it's just another small local league.
There is no way that LL was unaware of the address issue. When you are presenting rosters you have to provide several documents that establish residency at the given address. You also have to show on a map the location of that residence within your league boundary. This happens multiple times during the process from local league all the way to the LLWS.
I have my own theory as to why this was allowed to happen but I'll keep my speculation out of this discussion.
|3 weeks 23 hours ago||I loved the amoeba defense||
If I get back into coaching, which looks very likely, I'll be using that and 1-3-1 as my base defenses.
Those UNLV teams were really fun to watch.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Similar||
Shortly before I graduated I had a deep discussion with my cousin who was daily high level at Ford. He told me, "All your diploma will get you is the interview. The interview and everything after depends on you"
Also, for many employers a degree is merely a way to insure the people they hire can read, write, and proves information at a 12th grade or higher level.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||Rahk is a hidden gem||
Wasn't hyped about him at all coming in but man, that kid can play. I notice him running the point more. I wonder if it's out of necessity or they are looking at that for the future? He seems quite comfortable with the ball in his hands but also willing to give it up for someone else to have a better shot.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||Short and to the point||
Spot on MgrowOld. My kids couldn't be more different from one another, but they are a boy and a girl. My job as a parent is to help them to be the best they can be. If that's "Tailgate State" then so be it. Better that than to have all the potential in the world and only excel at Call of Duty.
|3 weeks 6 days ago||Dee Hart II||
I am thinking of Weber as Dee Hart II. There was much weeping and gnashing of teeth when we didn't him under some very questionable circumstances. I think in the big picture that didn't turn out so bad.
Then there's Treadwell, also questionable circumstances, who turned out to be a stud (pre-injury).
I think if anything the previous staff showed that great classes don't matter if they don't get coached up.
|3 weeks 6 days ago||It's his defense that is the biggest liability||
Every player goes through stretches where they don't want to shoot. It happens to all of them but it afflicts younger players who don't have confidence even more.
What I am most troubled with is his consistently poor defense. It was glaringly obvious last night. I had to walk away from the TV late in the 1st half when bit on a terrible fake going right and his man had an easy uncontested layup right down the middle from the foul line.
It cannot be fun for other defenders to be stuck guarding 1-1/2 players the whole game. I sure hope DJ Wilson doesn't transfer and can play defense.
|4 weeks 2 days ago||Wrong Coach||
BoB was hired after a complete clusterfuk of biblical proportion. Franklin was hired in 2014 after BoB completely outperformed expectations (and beat Michigan).
People also seem to forget that Meyer and staff had some kind of NCAA waiver so that OSU could essentially have 2 coaching staffs for a period of time. Fickel & Co handled bowl preparation and Meyer could focus exclusively on recruiting AFTER he was a color analyst for many games featuring schools he would play or in areas he would pluck players from.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||I'd gladly trade a great class for a great coach||
I think that's what Michigan has done. Previous staff recruited well but didn't get it done. It's gonna be just fine going forward.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||Is it the shoes?||
Seems like a lot of foot problems. Could it be the crappy ADIDAS equipment?
|4 weeks 3 days ago||Defense||
Defense gets young players off the bench. Offense keeps them in the game. He isn't doing either but there isn't any options at this point. Lonergan should see it as an opportunity as JB has shown a willingness to play walkons that can contribute.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||I love reminding the PSU||
I love reminding the PSU crowd they didn't even offer PA Mr Basketball/
|4 weeks 3 days ago||Future looks brighter everyday||
Rahk has picked up the offense and is looking like a potential star. Dawkins is coming along slower but looks more comfortable every game.
One the downside...Chatman still doesn't have any idea how to play defense and even by providing minutes and fouls is a liability. It seriously looked like JB was having a WTF moment with him but JB is too classy to do that publicly. Complelety opposite of the classlessness that is the Sparty coach.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||Slap the floor!||
I love it because everytime Sparty slaps the floor Michigan goes on a run. When will they learn? Too bad they didn't do it in OT.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||PED testing||
Other golfers clamored for it which didn't seem to make sense until seeing before/after pics of Tiger. After that he hasn't really done much. Also seems to exhibit the symptoms of carrying an artificially high amount of muscle one his frame IMHO. Lots of joint issues.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||Everyone feels awkward||
When you are in a high pressure situation like being surrounded by strangers with the rest of your life hanging in the balance little things can get blown up. These are still young kids full of insecurities and haven't learned just to be who they are. It doesn't seem any different than thinking the zit on your face is the size of a tumor but others don't really notice it.
|5 weeks 2 hours ago||Quite a few||
Henson is an easy one. I had a friend that played HS ball against Marino. Elway was a star pitcher. Russell Wilson was drafted in baseball.
A google would probably turn up a lot more. They aren't as dissimilar as you think.
