worst place I've ever been to a game or concert. Was built as an all purpose arena and it sucks equally at everything. Has the atmosphere of a funeral home, the baseline seats are 20 yeards away from the court and lower level corner seats are effectively blocked from seeing anything but the backboard. There's never any need to sit in the upper level because the lower is never full.
For concerts the acoustics blow! The echo of the lower tones creates a giant bowl of mush. You cannot make out a single word the singer is singing.
A distant second would the the old Vet in Philly.

My son had 2 baseball injuries that were treated differently. Eloow tendonitis tyhat shut him down a few weeks during the season that the trainers only told him to stretch and ice. It still bnothers him at times 1 season removed.
The other was a hamstring that he was unable to put any stress on without excruciating pain. I forked up some $ and sent him to a therapist outside our insurance system. 3 weeks of gentle stretching and ultrasound and he was ready for Legion Season and it doesn't bother him at all anymore.
I don't know what kind of rehab was available to Drake in HS, but I'm certain he has state of the art rehab going on now. Get healthy young man!

I have been getting the same emails about a "Great opportunity to purchase Penn State home game tickets at face value". One problem is that the home schedule is so terrible nobody will purchase tickets for those games at face value and instead will purchase them from scalpers at the game for $10.
I predicted this would happen when I went to the Michigan @ Penn State game when RR was the coach. Many of the fans around us were expressing their displeasure with upcoming seating changes. They had grudgingly swallowed the PSL scam on top of paying Nittany Lion Club extortion fees for years. But, they had also been informed that their seats were being moved for the upcoming year and into the future.
Fans that had paid for and held prime seats for multi-generations were being uprooted and put into end zone or upperdeck seats. At Penn State it was, and still may be, quite common for dead people to renew their seats so that the rest of the family didn't have to go back into "the pool" for seating. I'm sure it's also common at other large schools.
Yes, with large screen plasma TV's and surround sound systems, and networks dedicated to various college conferences it's now preferable to stay home to watch than fight traffic and get shook down by the athletic department. I think college football is becoming an event driven phenomenon rather than a season one. I'll gladly pay a scalper or stubhub for the one game I "must" see instead of paying for a meh season and the fees associated with it.

Depending on how things are done the 6h grade kid could be the same age as a normal 8th grader. There's a local school here that commonly "redshirts" their athletes. Several members of the state chamionship baseball team are 19yo juniors.
MAAR of the incoming basketball class will be 20 before he arrives on campus for his freshman year.

Whenthis happens with college sports I'll drop Dish. I do not watch pro sports of any flavor but I do keep Dish just for ESPN/ABC/B1G/PAC12. Even at 150/yr each for streaming I'd save money. I don't get any channels via antenna so streaming is my only option other than cable or dish.

The largest money hole I ever owned. Sold it at a huge loss and still saved money.

Storm Johnson will be the opening day starter. Denard was a great college player but that doesn't necessarily translate to being a player at the next level.
Great college player, great ambassador for the school and sport, and by all accounts a wonderful person. those qualities alone are more than many achieve in a lifetime.

I think I still have some in a box of junk my mother delivered shortly after we bought our house. Charlotte Hornets were my team the last time I cared about the NBA.
How could a team with a roster that loaded struggle to make the playoffs?
|15 weeks 5 days ago||In Context||
Since Hoke arrived at Michigan...
Penn State has more B1G wins
Has won head-to-head
Only has one less bowl victory
All during the meltdown of having a pedophile rapist using the football complex as his playground
Someone mentioned Iowa earlier. If things don't change in AA, Michigan will be the Iowa of the division.

In one of the flurries of news articles that were coming out right before and right after Delaney said the committee either didn't use academics or didn't make academics a priority when deciding what schools to add for expansion.
He basically said, "We're backing the truck up to the TV money vault. To hell with anything that matters. We want TV sets"
And so we got Rutgers.

"Yeah, he's so set up with that broadcasting job. I wanna get paralyzed too, the benefits are amazing."
That is the most idiotic post I have ever read on this site. Congratulations.

But you're not going to see a Jr Walton and a Jr Irvin on the roster in 2015. At best one of them will still be here. It's the nature of the game and JB's system that there is a huge jump from year 1 to year 2.
I'm also not on board with the general panic of not having a 5. JB's system was never built around having a big guy on the low block. In recent history I think we can look at the 2010-2011 team that started 4 guards and a 6'9" 215lb freshman at forward. That team lost to the #3 team in the country 73-71 on a shot that agonizingly bounce off the rim.
JB's system in football terms is the spread vs traditional man all. It's all about tempo, efficiency, and the 3-ball. JB's teams out score the opponent rather than stopping them from scoring. That's one of the reasons on nights when shots aren't falling they can look horrific.
I'll take my chances with a sophomore PG who can distribute to open players for easy shots. Especially when those 2 players are Irvin and Lavert. If Donnal is half as good as the Fred Jackson-esque rumors Michigan will be hanging banners again after next season.
|17 weeks 5 days ago||Best of luck Mitch||
Time for the team and fans to move on. I loved watching him play but reality is he only had a stretch of 10 or 15 games where he played like a freak. JMo had beaten him for the starting job to begin the season and held it late season/tournament time.
McGary showed flashes of brilliance but that's all we'll ever see of him as a Wolverine. Who's to say he'd come back and be the same player? Someone in the draft will either get a steal or a dud. What we do know is that doobie cost Mitch a ton of money.
Hello Cole Huff?

Penn State was supposed to be a smoking crater in the ground since they had a coach that F'd little boys and a coach/administration that allegedly covered it up. the program was given the closest the the NCAA will ever get to the death penalty again. With the post season ban, scholarship reductions, and immediate transfer eligibility how did the Brady Hoke coached Michigan Wolverines do in comparison?
During Hoke's tenure...
Penn State has a better conference record, hasn't lost head to head vs Michigan, and despite the post season ban only has 1 less bowl victory.
I would argue that if Hoke wasn't a "Michigan Man" the discussion wouldn't be about an extension but rather how to end his tenure in a way that doesn't embarrass the University, DB, or Hoke.
|18 weeks 3 days ago||Anecdotal Evidence||
I've seen enough pitchers that ice vs pitchers that don't ice to see the prevalence of "dead arm" in the non-icers to believe that icing is a good thing. At the HS level even if it gets a pitcher an extra 1 or 2 appearances it's a big deal since it's rare for a HS team to have more than 1 or 2 aces on the staff.

Never complained about playing time or being a natural 2 playing 3&4.
Good luck Jon. I hope that you have fond memories of your time as a Wolverine.

If it weren't for the legal and employment ramifications I'd still love to partake in some green bud. Someday soon when the kids aren't around this mid-40's guy will be able to legally purchase it and the bride and I will have a lazy weekend by the pool.
Already told her when it becomes legal there will no longer be tomatoes in the garden.
As to indefinite suspension- this is the SEC we're talking about. Probably means sitting the 1st half against Our Sisters of Mercy Community College.

If the change is as drastic as before/after I think I'll look more like that one. Great job Morgan.
For you young guys, reverse the before and after pics and that's what turning 40 does to you.

Just a few years ago, when some of these players were freshmen, we were thrilled with just making the tournament. Hail Beilein!

really tough to beat a team 3x in one season. I guess we'll have to be happy with 6 of 9.
|23 weeks 3 days ago||Why is the B10 Tournament on CBS?||
CBS should have the SEC tournament. It's been obvious all day these announcers don't know much but what they've been fed by SID's about the B10. At least ESPN has some meaningless games during the season and know the players/teams.
|23 weeks 3 days ago||Predictions||
Teams that give up nearly 100pts in a loss should never be in the running for #1 seeds. Double that for teams that gave up nearly 100pts twice in losses.
Virginia will not get a #1 seed
The last #1 will be the perpetually overseeded Duke. Duke will exit in a Sweet 16 game.
