Peppers vs a hurricane, who wins? What if the name of the hurricane is Hurricane Peppers?
|16 hours 6 min ago||Right on||
This seems like the most appropriate response to any draftageddon post.
I can handle 2 rounds at a time. That leaves me wanting MOAR draftageddon, but then you do back-to-back 3 rounds of coverage and I gotta admit, it's a little hard to slog through.

Give him a break. But I do think koalas are vegetarians. Never heard of bamboo ribs.
|2 days 11 hours ago||Brandon||
so maybe it was Brandon's mistake in not putting up the coin to make up the difference between living in SoCal and Ann Arbor. Hoke should have asked Brandon to pay for Sipe to come with him. Quarterback is sort of an important position, or so I'm told, and Borges just isn't a QB coach.

Bill Simmons had a podcast guest who rambled on and on about half-baked ideas. One of my favorite half-baked ideas that I came up with is to make an NFL team out of service academy graduates. They would be the 33rd team in the NFL. They wouldn't have a home stadium. Instead, one year they would play all the AFC teams and the next they would play all the NFC teams. These would all be road games. What you would have is a traveling team of ambassadors for the service academies. They would spend the week in your town extolling the virtues of the academies and doing recruiting for volunteers.
This would serve two purposes. 1) Instead of enriching the 32 owners exclusively, some of that Network TV financed NFL coin would come back to the taxpayers. 2) The football programs at the academies would be improved because the prospective players would see that there is a pathway to the NFL. Instead of serving their 5 year committments in Afghanistan or overseas protecting our allies, they could work in the states for 5 years as NFL players and recruiters. After 5 years, they'd be free agents to join any NFL team.
Maybe for the first few years, you schedule these as exhibitions until you can get the strength of the team right so that they are not getting blown out, (we don't want them to be the Washington Generals) but we also don't want them winning the Super Bowl every year because then the owners would nix the idea.

In Water World. And you can add Jeanne Tripplehorn to that. Other than the awful acting, horrible plot, and ridiculous dialogue, it was a good movie.

Yeah, he was terrible in From Dusk to Dawn, and you can take my word for that since I've seen that movie thousands of times for obvious reasons.

The dolphin in Johnny Mnemonic was pretty bad.
|4 days 12 hours ago||Hoke||
Hoke's biggest mistake may have been not bringing Brian Sipe with him from SDSU. I think it would be easier to recruit QBs by telling them, "you get to learn from NFL QB Brian Sipe," as opposed to, "you get to run every trick play from Al Borges' playbook,"

|4 days 13 hours ago||taste||
I was in Taiwan for 2 weeks and I can attest to the fact that the food tasted much better over there. There was so much more flavor. I think the US farm factory practices have removed a lot of the natural flavors of foods. Yes, we can feed our people, but it's a bland existence.

I don't think they are thinking this through far enough. If Rutgers and Purdue leave, Indiana is doomed to be the doormat of the B1G for eternity.
|4 days 14 hours ago||Independents||
Texas, Notre Dame, and BYU should get together, encourage some other teams to join them, and form the Independent Conference. They can schedule games against each other, and at the end of the season, the two best independent teams can play each other to see who is the best independent team.
|4 days 14 hours ago||Special teams||
I think the ST were average last year, but compared to recent prior seasons, yeah, they looked badass. There's a good anecdote in the Mike Reinhold diary about Bo coaching special teams and the emphasis he put on them. I suspect Harbaugh learned that lesson well and we won't need to worry about the loss of Baxter. I hope.
|4 days 14 hours ago||Pitt||
ST2 was born in Pittsburgh, so I've always been partial to Pitt.
I have three monitors at work side-by-side-by-side. I pulled up PMS7406 and put it on all three at the same time. Each monitor showed a slightly different version of the color based on my monitor settings, I suppose. At this point, who knows? Let's just beat the snot out of everybody and worry about the proper shade of maize later.
|5 days 14 hours ago||Dieter Heren||
I may have told this story before, but it fits with this diary. My brother and I used to play a backyard field-goal kicking game. The object was to see who could make more kicks between two conveniently grown trees. To make it more interesting, the one not kicking was allowed to rush and try to block the kick. I always chose to be Dieter Heren when trying to block the kick. I can't tell you what kicker I was, but I was always Dieter Heren, probably because he has such a fun name to pronounce when you are excited about a kick getting blocked. I'll blame Ufer for that.
EDIT: apparently, Ufer died a couple years before Heren started playing at UofM. That doesn't matter. He's still the voice of Michigan Football to me. You should have heard him calling Denard's 87 yard TD run against ND. Sounded like that Dennis Bergkamp guy.

In Bo's book, "Bo's Lasting Lessons" he talks about an undersized nose guard. He preferred quick guys at the nose who could get into the backfield and disrupt plays (hence the line about being at a party you weren't invited to) to space-eaters who could absorb a double-team.

Sorry, but I just don't care about these stories about OSU. I find the whole thing kind of Boren.

MJ won 3 with Grant and three with Rodman. Pippen is the most overrated member of the 50 greatest NBA players. MJ carried him to those 6 titles.

Houston is the 10th largest TV market in the US. I don't understand why the Big12 wouldn't want to add them. I guess your claim is that if they were legitimized by becoming a power 5 school they would attract more talent away from the rest of the Big12 schools. If that's the way they want to be, fine I guess, but I'd have more respect for the league if they had some better teams. Do you want to add a Rutgers or a Nebraska? Seems like a no-brainer to me.

|1 week 18 hours ago||Who is Mike Jones?||
That's the first MGo-ism that forced me to ask the Board for help. For years, I've encouraged my brother to join the site as a user instead of just being the occasional lurker. When I pressed him for a definitive answer as to why he wouldn't join, he basically blamed all the 'colloquialisms' (to use Hab's term) and said he didn't understand all the insider memes, etc. I've found the Board to be a friendly place that will answer your questions if you ask nicely. I never would have found out who Mike Jones is if I hadn't asked. One of these days I'm going to ask about McFarlin.
|1 week 1 day ago||I don't||
I've tried really hard to be interested in UCLA since they are the closest team geographically to me that wasn't involved in the phantom touchdown, employed Pete Carroll, or is an acronym for university of spoiled children, but going to games there is just so boring. Yes, the Rose Bowl is beautiful, but it's like going to the beach or a nature walk. You enjoy the beauty of the place, but it's not terribly exciting.
I used to root for Northwestern when I was a kid because I liked rooting for the underdog and they were always the underdog, but since they've been good under Barnett and Fitz and another guy I'm forgetting about, I haven't cared as much about them.

I think "locked" is a misnomer because what they are actually doing is caving the entire thread. None of the replies are visible, at least with the browsers I'm using, so someone who missed all the activity has no idea why it got "locked."
