that's unfortunate, but at least the interest is there on both sides

|17 hours 48 min ago||Cal||
The amazing thing about Cal's consecutive game streak is for a long portion of it, he had a consecutive innings streak going as well. Some guys might pinch hit or DH to keep their streak going, but Cal was headed out to SS every day. That may have negatively effected his performance, but you can't fault the guy's effort.

Brian is trying to explain why all of the ass-hats who commented last night don't like this commitment. He's not insulting the kid, he's insulting the ass-hat posters on this board, who need to grow up a little.
|19 hours 55 min ago||Donnal||
whether he likes it or not is not really the point. He was terribly miscast as a 5. He can play the Novakian 4 (spot up 3's on offense,) but he's not big/strong enough to handle 5s on defense.
|1 day 8 hours ago||vertical||
I'm pretty sure Xavier's Matt Stainbrook has less than a 10 inch vertical, but he was a revelation during the NCAA tournament. The biggest question for me is, can you play the game? Davis has good coordination for a kid that size. Under Beilein's tutelage, I think he'll develop nicely.
|1 day 8 hours ago||3 1/2 minutes of scouting||
From the 3 1/2 minutes I just watched, the kid (and let's remember he's still just a kid,) has real nice touch around the basket and great hands. After watching Doyle and Donnal struggle to finish at the basket this year, I can see what Beilein finds attractive about Davis. The pick-and-roll game that Jordan Morgan thrived in basically disappeared this season due to Doyle's difficulty handling those quick passes from the guards. Davis doesn't appear to have the same problem, but like I said, it's 3 1/2 minutes.

He went five weeks without posting but made a couple comments three days ago. He's one of my favorite posters because of the avatar, user name, insightful comments and the fact that he replied to one of my comments several years ago.

schedule the west coast teams as EARLY as possible, not as late as possible. Not that we need help now that we have HARBAUGH, but I'd like to take advantage of every possible - for lack of a better word - advantage that we can. If we can score three times before they wake up, so much the better.
|1 day 20 hours ago||Timing||
It seems more likely to me that the timing is related to the end of the semester, and some seniors realizing they never got around to vandalizing Sparty. Also, it's a lot easier to do when Sparty isn't being guarded around the clock like he would be during football or basketball season. Not that I have any personal experience with this sort of thing. As far as you know.

Deciding to go to the lab to get some work done instead of watching the Biakabutuka game. In my defense, I didn't know it was the Biakabutuka game before it became the Biakabutuku game. If someone had told me beforehand that Biakabutuka was going to Biakabutuke OSU, I would have watched. Really, I would have.
Instead, I finished my experiment, got in the car, turned on the radio, and heard the announcers going crazy about Biakabutuku breaking 300 yards against OSU and I thought, oh shit, I missed a good game.

600+ points in <3 weeks is totally acceptable. Takes one to smell one, I guess?

I really like these recaps. Is it possible to add some quantitative metrics regarding Dawkins' defense? Besides steals, because the difference between 1 SPG and 0.5 SPG isn't a whole lot.

|2 days 18 hours ago||Michigan and the death penalty||
I'm going to cross the no-politics line because this is important information that all Michigan Men (EDIT: and Women) should be aware of. The state of Michigan executed an innocent man in 1828. When it was discovered in 1835 that he was innocent, the good people of the State of Michigan decided they would never make that mistake again and outlawed the practice. Frankly, that makes me proud to say I'm from Michigan. For more info, see:
"Michigan became the first English-speaking territory in the world to abolish capital punishment in 1847. Treason remained a crime punishable by the death penalty in Michigan despite the 1847 abolition, but no one was ever executed under that law. In 1962 a constitutional convention passed a proposal to abolish the death penalty for all crimes in Michigan by a 108 to 3 vote"
108 to 3. Be proud of Michigan's leadership on this issue. We are not like China, Iran, North Korea, and Yemen, the other countries that execute their own citizens. Sadly, places like Texas exist where they are proud of being lumped in with those aforementioned countries.

There is a large group of anti-Canadians on this site that down-vote people who spell defense with a 'c'. /s
Next time, put QB in " " so we know it's not a real move to QB.

Whitaker is 78th in all-time WAR while Trammell is tied for 93rd. They both belong in the HofF.
|3 days 16 hours ago||Tram||
I'm hoping that the writers decided early on when it was clear that Whitaker wasn't going to get voted in, that they would wait until both guys were eligible to be voted in together by the legends committee so that they could be inducted together. They are like Hawaiian War Chant and Temptation. You can't have one without the other. I mean, they played like 19 consecutive seasons together. How do you split that up and only award one guy?
|4 days 22 hours ago||My problem||
is with them not letting him predict the games. I only pointed out the obvious conflict of interest to show the hypocritical nature of ESPN. It's fine for them in one instance (letting him call the game) but not in another (letting him make a prediction.) I said, let him make the prediction. I didn't say, don't let him call the game. Let him call the game if he's the best option and he's capable of overcoming the inherit bias, which he (and Bob Griese) is, but the same cannot be said of all announcers (I'm looking at you Jay Bilas.)

60 minutes, John Oliver, the Good Wife, and Bar Rescue. Why must all my favorite shows be squeezed into one 3-4 hour time period?
Is Veep any good? I never started watching that.

1. I agree with the folks saying Mark May should go as well. What a self-important blowhard.
2. Trickeration. I hate that word. It's not even a real word. Maybe with Rece moving he'll grow up a little and start using real words.
3. Just let Herbstreit predict games he's calling. What's the big deal? Is someone really going to be offended or upset because he predicted USC to beat Oregon State and that somehow is going to affect how he calls the game? Cumong man. How about the fact that he went to Ohio State and IS ALLOWED TO CALL OHIO STATE GAMES?!? Now that's a conflict of interest. Instead, they pretend like they are looking out for the fans and being ethical by not allowing him to predict the g-dam game. Drives me nuts.

They are also losing Duje Dukan. While not a starter, I thought he was a solid bench player and he has a great name.
|1 week 20 hours ago||Except that||
Tokoto isn't hiring an agent yet, so he may be just testing the waters. With so few scholarships available, and the timing of the NBA draft, college basketball recruiting is really complicated.
|1 week 20 hours ago||Stanford/Berkeley||
I beg to differ. California is a huge state, but there are many areas that are similar to Palo Alto and Berkeley. Yes, you've got farmers in the central valley, and a great big melting pot of everything in Los Angeles, but liberal, crunchy-granola types can be found state-wide.

If Levert returns or Brown commits, I think you'll be wrong about the media. If neither are on the roster next season, you'll be right. It's really too early to say, or argue about, but that's what's fun about this internet thing.

Was one of the announcers. Kirk herb street can't predict games he's announcing, but a duke alum can announce the championship game.

Had an awful shooting night, but the refs protected Winslow and Okafor. Fingers just don't move by themselves. That out of bounds call was awful. I hate Duke and St. Krzyzewski.
