Just kidding, glad to see the voting return.

Are you having so much fun down there in Bolivia that you've decided to take up permanent residence?
|4 days 5 hours ago||You mean,||
the Knicks, Nets, and Bucks?
|4 days 6 hours ago||I agree||
but I think Bama would be favored over Auburn at a neutral site. Funny how sports work. I think most people, myself included, are so tired of Bama by now that we're happy we have an excuse to exclude them from the championship game.
|4 days 6 hours ago||Agreed, but||
if you believe in "home field advantage" at all, and think the two best teams should play for the national championship, shouldn't it be FSU-Bama?
|4 days 6 hours ago||Thanks to MSU||
for saving the nation from the sham that would have been, had Ohio made the NCG.
RE: Staee and the Rose Bowl, once every 26 years is plenty.
|4 days 11 hours ago||Ugh||
I'm wearing red and rooting for (?, not sure that's the right way to phrase that) MSU. I'm totally confused. Someone please restore order to the Force.

Largest margin of victory since 1946. At one point, HBU hadn't missed a shot in the game, but they were still down by 6 points.
|4 days 19 hours ago||The future's fault||
You are asking about "possible" defections, meaning they haven't happened yet. Therefore, I can only blame the future. Damn passage of time gets you, well, every time.

Not sure why you left out, "Title Says it All," because title says it all.
|5 days 7 hours ago||Seriously?||
The guy makes one comment about you being defensive, and you defensively call him a troll. Did I miss the /s tag?

I'd like to thank all the actual physicists who read this blog for not tearing apart my Heisenborges Uncertainty Principle from a few weeks ago.
|5 days 12 hours ago||The McD post||
I went back and reviewed that post. M-Wolverine made just a couple posts (at least ones that were left up.) One compared Brandon Brown to RDT. So he broke the new rule about publicly trashing a writer of this site. The other appealed to the Athletic Department as a higher authority. He ought to have known better than that, given Brian's contempt for Dave Brandon. Two straws that apparently broke the camel's back.
|5 days 15 hours ago||point totals||
In the "good old days" of voting, some guys wracked up some ridiculous point totals by way of pos-bang threads. (Post once, and everybody votes you up giving you points.) I think M-Wolverine earned his points by posting 41,000 times.

I sent Brian an email last night. I think that's the second email I've sent in four years. This was not the response I was expecting. Wow. Great post. Thank you, Brian.

In my last diary, I mentioned that I was too cheap to contribute to beveled guilt, so I kept posting diaries to generate clicks. Last year, I was getting about 2000 views per diary. This year, it's down to ~400. I'm hoping that something has changed about how views get counted, and you all haven't just gotten tired of my schtick. Anyway, I did the calculation awhile back to see how much revenue I might be adding to MGoBlog. Ad rates vary, but I went with a conservative estimate of $20 per 1000 impressions (CPM.) For 2000 views a week, and 12 games a season, that's $480. So I figured I've done my part to keep the blog solvent. Plus, I probably view 100's of pages every day and generate lots of ad revenue that way.
Someone earlier mentioned Sullivan's blog. I don't think that would work here because Sullivan has a national audience and a rather large subject area to cover. He puts up dozens of posts everyday. Of course, his stuff is mostly commentary about other news items. There is not as much original material over there as there is here. But this is a niche market compared to his. He's charging $20 a year. I think that's a nice starting point for a beveled guilt donation, or as it's holiday time, just tip Brian and the guys what you give your mail man / garbage man* / barber / doorman, etc.
*I give tips to the bottled water delivery guy and the newspaper guy, but only because they leave envelopes for me to do so. I've never tipped the garbage man because I never get to see them, but I've heard other people do.

MSU lost to ND, who is receiving enough votes to be considered #28 in the AP. They won at Iowa, who would be #30, and beat Minnesota who also received votes. That's it, the highlight of their 11-1 record is a road win over #30 Iowa. Ohio State hasn't really beat anybody either, except #21 Wisconsin at home. It's basically a sham.
|1 week 2 days ago||Easily?||
We should be favored in 9 of the 12 games. If we can pull off an upset and avoid one, we're looking at 10-2. What fourth games are we going to lose easily? (I'm assuming you think we will easily lose at MSU/ND/OSU)
|1 week 2 days ago||2015 is the year||
I don't think sticking Devin with a new coordinator in year 5 is a good idea. Let's look at his history:
Year 1: QB under Rich Rod and Magee
Year 2: first year under Borges, doesn't look ready for prime-time in his few apperances
Year 3: starts season as WR, transitions back to QB late
Year 4: first full season as starting QB
And people want to stick him with a new OC/QB coach next year? If it doesn't work next year, then you bring in a new OC and let him work with Shane or whoever during the spring and fall.
|1 week 2 days ago||Brandon's blog||
In Brandon's blog post last week, he mentioned the seniors Lloyd Carr recruited that were on the 2011 Sugar Bowl winning team, but didn't mention Rich Rod, or his seniors.
|1 week 2 days ago||2 good games?||
It doesn't fit your narrative, but you've got to give a little credit to him for scoring 59 points against CMU. He definitely called a good game versus ND. I think it was either Akron or UConn where Gardner started with a bunch of turnovers, and Al modified the gameplan to work around that. He built his confidence up slowly, just enough to get a win with a -3 or -4 TO margin. Putting up 42 points against Minnesota is a good result. Minnesota has played a lot of low scoring games (both teams) this year. Indiana was a record setting day - good game Borges and all around. And Ohio State was a good game. So that's at least 6 good games. I think he biffed the Penn State and Nebraska games. The other four were meh. I don't think it's as dire as some people would have us believe.
|1 week 3 days ago||Good point||
You make a good point. Rocky didn't play defense either, unless you count getting hit in the face repeatedly to be defense. The movie had better music than that stuff Special K plays.
|1 week 3 days ago||Very early 2014 prediction||
I predicted the Michigan-Iowa game would be 21-21, and Ohio-Michigan would be 42-7, so you can be sure that half of this prediction will be accurate.
Aug. 30 APPALACHIAN STATE - Win, because if not, holy hell are we in trouble
Sept. 6 at Notre Dame - toss up, but with a 5th year senior at QB, we have a shot. I'll go with a win in the last match-up. Serves them right for cancelling the series. Don't mess with karma ND.
Sept. 13 MIAMI (Ohio) - Win because obviously
Sept. 20 UTAH - at Utah would be trouble, but this is at home, win.
Sept. 27 MINNESOTA* - They played better this year, but apparently we own them. Win.
Oct. 4 at Rutgers* - May be very similar to UConn this year, but Rutgers is better than UConn. I expect we'll welcome them to the B14 in style. Win.
Oct. 11 PENN STATE* - A sophomore Hackenburg presents more problems, but again, home field advantage is huge. Win.
Oct. 25 at Michigan State* - They suffer some personnel losses on defense. We have got to turn around the narrative of this series. Win, but only out of necessity, and I'm not sure that's a valid reason.
Nov. 1 INDIANA* (HC) - Homecoming vs. Indiana? That's another win. I thought this schedule was supposed to be tough, yet I have us at 9-0 so far. The eternal optimist returns.
Nov. 8 at Northwestern* - they were 1-7 in BIG play this year. Win.
Nov. 22 MARYLAND* - Seriously? Win.
Nov. 29 at Ohio State* - Toss-up. I guess it depends on how many of them turn pro. Let's say with O-line losses and early entries, they're playing a lot of young kids and making mistakes that we made this year. Win.
So it's on to the B1G championship game against... Wisconsin. Let's win that too, while we're at it.
In reality, we're probably looking at losing 2 of @ND, @MSU, @OSU, and getting upset once at home. I'd be happy with 9-3 after 8-4 and 7-5 seasons.
|1 week 3 days ago||The formation||
I think that's where you (you being Borges in this example) can outthink yourself. So Ohio calls timeout after they see the formation. Do they prepare for the Dileo pass that we've seen dozens of times this year on critical plays? But maybe, they think there's no way we'd be stupid enough to run that play after we've shown them the formation, so maybe we'll do something different, so they don't prepare for Dileo. I don't know. I wish we had a healthy Gardner to run something, or a running game we could trust.
|1 week 3 days ago||Sorry, it's not on the list||
I like watching good defense and winning, so no, I don't care for yesterday's game.
[EDIT: sorry, can't put aside my fandom either]
