somebody negged you for the other?
|1 day 11 hours ago||Brady||
I could be wrong here, but I remember every single game of his senior season* playing out like this: Brady plays the first quarter, does well. Henson comes in for the 2nd quarter and Michigan falls behind by 17 points. Brady comes back in after halftime and leads Michigan back to a harrowing 1 point victor. Again, I could be wrong about this, but that's how I remember it.
*That was the season I couldn't get Michigan's games on TV, so I had to go to the local alumni hangout/bar and watch most of the games. My memories are likely clouded by drinking too many Michigan Mimosas during the games.
|1 day 11 hours ago||Holy shot||
if he's going to say holy shot, shouldn't he also say our fanbase is full of botches? Your gaddom right. Botches and ossholes everywhere I look.
|1 day 13 hours ago||Section One||
I got really tired of his attitude so I started paying close attention to his comments. One night when I am pretty sure he had too much to drink he got really nasty attacking another user. I think he told them to F off among other things. I reported him to the mods using the MGoSticky and they took care of the rest. It's the one time in six years here that I've tattletaled, but in my defense, there is only so much Title IX related commentary I can take.
EDIT: see comments #800 and #801 here:
Let history show that LSAClassOf2000 did the banhammering. Truly, a feather in his cap.
|1 day 15 hours ago||Leadership||
Actually, it means a lot. It means that Harbaugh understands leadership. The person with two bosses has none. We have one President. We have one Governor. We have one head coach. This pansy-ass nonsense of having 6 co-captains spreads the leadership amongst too many players to the point where no one knows who the leader is.

1. MSU at 25? That's a healthy serving of disrespekt right there.
2. A caution to the Ole Miss recruits who went elsewhere, MLB said the steroid test results were going to be confidential and we all know how that worked out. But please, rat out Ole Miss. No /s.

MGoUser darko was motivated by another thread to make his/her* first post in almost 6 years. This is going to be a special season.
*I suppose darko is masculine and darka is feminine, but who knows these days. NTTAWWT.
|2 days 12 hours ago||Word on the street||
is that John Candy and Jon Hamm both think it's John O'Korn's job to lose. That's a veritable Mount Rushmore of John Food's right there - Bacon, Candy, Hamm, and O'Korn.
(For the purposes of this joke neglect the fact that John Candy is dead.)
|2 days 12 hours ago||John U. Korn||
Of course Bacon thinks Korn is the QB. The similarities in their names are frightening. They both follow this formula: John Vowel Food.

on gaining your first MGoPoint in over 5 years. That's impressive.
|2 days 15 hours ago||Agreed||
This post turned out much better than I thought it would. I was expecting to see a bunch of jokes about Cornhusker linemen and the vast wasteland that is Nebraska during the winter.

|2 days 16 hours ago||Interesting analysis||
After the 5th or 6th viewing, I realized it was the two defenders on the backside of the play that made the tackle, Lewis and RJS. Nice pursuit from RJS. I don't think he's responsible for handling that cutback.
Should the two safeties identify what's going on sooner and be able to get involved with the tackle before the RB is 20 yards downfield?
|2 days 16 hours ago||7th and 8th grade||
I played ST in 7th grade and platooned at fullback in 8th grade. I shuttled the plays in from the sideline. I played CB one game in 8th grade. The sum total of my stats: 1 catch for 5 yards, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 INT.
In seventh grade during practice we did a drill where the running back has to run between two tackling dummies lying flat on the ground. The defender starts the drill lying on the ground. When the whistle blows, he had to jump up and tackle the RB. My first time doing that drill I was the RB going up against the starting MLB. Big 8th grader who just barely was eligible to run the ball on offense. (At one of our games, the opposing coaches called out the scales to check if he was below the 135 pound weight limit. He made it by 1/2 a pound.) The whistle blows, I start heading for the dummies and this linebacker just levels me. Picture perfect tackle with his shoulder pads crunching me right in the numbers. My entire arm went numb, so of course I fumbled the ball. The coach starts yelling at me about ball security. I put my head down and went to the back of the line figuring he wasn't going to care that I had no sensation in my arm. That pretty much ended my hopes of ever carrying the ball.
I never coached football, but I have coached basketball, baseball, and soccer. I definitely recommend coaching if you have the opportunity and the temperament to do so.

I know I am.

When Jedd was asked what goes into his decision about who starts, he said,
When I compare Speight and O'Korn in that photo, Speight appears to have more moxie. Check the body language, Speight has his hand on O'Korn's shoulder. Speight is acting like the alpha male. Meanwhile, O'Korn's face reminds me of this classic SNL bit:

without Voltz, there's no power in their line. The electricity seems to have drained from the Wisconsin fanbase. Still, I'm going to get amped up for that game. It has the potential to be one of our better games
EDIT: needless to say, without Voltz, I don't see Wisconsin's offensive line putting up much resistance against our d-line.

|1 week 11 hours ago||Rosters||
I think it may be 53 and 15 now. When I was a kid it was 45 and 12. Then the NFL added a taxi squad (guys on the roster but not eligible to play on Sunday.) I don't know what the actual numbers are today, but it's much closer to 3:1 than 10:1.

I'd argue the most unlike-able person in the whole group is Coach K

And OSU won a national championship with Craig Krenzel at QB. It is a team game after all.
|1 week 12 hours ago||Serbia||
I imagine at halftime the entire Serbian team hurried back to the locker room to inhale a few cigarettes.

You know what they say, the penultimatum is mightier than the swordultimatum
|1 week 2 days ago||Cook||
In his defense, I see people say that his completion percentage was lower because they were going downfield more often than other teams, but if that's true, shouldn't that show up in his YPA numbers? Stats can lie, but it's interesting that the team rallied around his backups in Columbus and then shit the bed against Alabama when he returned.
|1 week 2 days ago||Connor Cook||
I know it's a subjective claim that Connor Cook was the best QB in the Big10 last season, but according to the numbers he was fourth behind Sudfeld, Rudock and Beathard. Sudfeld passed for ~400 more yards than Cook, and Rudock's completion percentage was 8 points higher. All three guys had higher YPA than Cook.
|1 week 3 days ago||hats||
my first Michigan baseball hat was the one with the stripes and wings a la the helmet. That was stolen from the locker room while I was playing a basketball game in sixth grade in Owosso 30+ years ago. I've worn the Bo M hat ever since.
|1 week 3 days ago||Tiers||
While trying to debunk Ace's tier framework, I went to the google. One of the definitions is:
one of a number of successively overlapping ruffles or flounces on a garment.
Which, of course, made me think of this. If Ace persists in suggesting that we share a garment flounce with OSU, who am I to argue?
|1 week 3 days ago||missed opportunities||
There were some great opportunities for follow-up questions. If I was there, I would have asked these hard-hitting, follow-up questions:
Talk about the forklift?
Talk about hooooo shape?
Talk about cajones?
Talk about charizards?
