It’s an affliction I share with Safire.

That is an issue, but I…

That is an issue, but I think it’s less so for the incoming junior than an incoming senior. A big sticking point seems to be the need to get 60 credits at UofM. If he has 2 years to do that instead of 1, that seems more likely. Also, freshman courses should transfer easier than higher level courses that have more specialized syllabuses. If he gets a few credits denied, he should be able to make those up during spring/summer semester.

P.S. It’s not admissions that look at the transcript, it’s the individual colleges.

There’s a long term parking…

There’s a long term parking lot by LAX airport where a lot of pilots keep RVs. It’s cheaper than staying in a hotel I suppose. I wouldn’t be surprised if that is where Harbaugh ended up. It’s reasonably close to the chargers new facility and SoFi.

2 things that are completely out of his control… OK then, let us know when you’re ready to join the real world.

How quickly we forget Dr. Dunkenstein. They’re a top program from the 70s for him alone.

They didn’t qualify…

They didn’t qualify academically. You had to have a minimum SAT score to play as a freshman.

I played over at the IM building on south campus and saw Voskuil and Bossard playing. Voskuil was obviously on another level, but I felt like I could hang with Bossard.

This hire also works for the people who wanted us to hire Hoiberg. Just pretend we did, they look exactly alike.

I like how Buccigross asked the dude about putting the playoff in a 2500 seat arena. Like, what are we even doing, NCAA?

They can get in, but they’ll lose their eligibility because they’re not on track to graduate on time.

Reed desperately needs a big…

Reed desperately needs a big man coach to break him of his habit of playing small around the basket. He also needs a defensive scheme that makes sense. But, yes, I would welcome him back.

If I’m the FAU AD, my first…

If I’m the FAU AD, my first call is to Juwan Howard. A lineup of Dug, GW3, Rooths, transfer to be named later, and Reed can compete in their conference. Or bring in a better player than GW3 and let him provide some shooting off the bench.

Warde, who I have defended,…

Warde, who I have defended, is still here. Sanderson isn’t coming back while Warde is here.

It depends on who falls…

It depends on who falls asleep first. If it’s the wolverine, the owl swoops down and rips his throat out with his talons. If it’s the owl, he falls to his death and the wolverine does what wolverines do: eat carrion and parade around the forest showing off the dismembered head of his vanquished foe.

3 posts above yours is a fat joke and MGrowold called Warde a tub of goo. The childish name calling has got to stop. Do people not realize that when they resort to personal insults they only diminish themselves?

Why not all three:…

Why not all three: transactional, transformational and transcendental?

Part of what makes March…

Part of what makes March Madness fun for me is reading about obscure schools that make the tournament. Today’s contestant is Longwood, located in - I’m not making this up - Farmville, Virginia. Anyway, according to the Wikipedia:

In early April 1865 both Gens. Robert E. Leeand Ulysses S. Grant marched past the north end of campus on Lee's retreat to Appomattox just days before the end of the American Civil War;

Their history includes this fun story:

A popular myth holds that whenever the college changed its name, a fire broke out on campus.

Except it’s not a myth, it’s happened four times!

He’s had 1 good year in 10. Juwan had one really bad year out of 5.

Chase Audige was the MGoAnnointed disaster factory. Buie is a decent ball player. It goes without saying that he would be our best player.

People who want to eliminate a candidate based on one bad half of basketball remind me of the folks who wanted Bakich fired after we lost to Lawrence Tech.

For a semester, but that counts. I’m debating between Madonna’s brother and a former President of India for the 4th spot.

Since I’m watching Oakland and I don’t know that much about them, I looked them up on Wikipedia. I’ll put their top 3 alumni up against anyone else:

Booger, from Revenge of the Nerds

Freddy Krueger

The Hoff

How can you match that? I’m looking for one more to fill out Mount Rushmore, but it’s slim pickings after those 3.

Not a joke. The only reason…

Not a joke. The only reason not to is that he was the head coach here before, so one might wonder about him being in a position of less authority. But the guy is 65 years old. I work with several contractors who used to be managers. They retired, found out they liked having something to do during the day and came back to work. Yeah, they lost their cushy office and title, but they leave the office at 5 PM with a smile on their face knowing that someone else is in charge now that gets to worry about all the 💩.

Is “Nedved” a joke that is going over my head? I’ve seen his name spelled Nedved almost as frequently as Medved.

Emtman and Suh are my go to…

Emtman and Suh are my go to’s for all-time DTs. Emtman was also 4th in Heisman voting. Graham has the potential to match or exceed them.

I used to work in Malibu…

I used to work in Malibu. One of my coworkers was legendary for living next to Barbra Streisand. She had a mansion and he had a trailer. It helped that he bought his place in the 60s when Malibu was somewhat still affordable. Babs used to complain to him that he was playing his stereo too loud.

I’ve been to Paradise Cove a few times for lunch. It’s a really beautiful spot. We had lunch at a restaurant with beach seating. They literally put beach chairs around a picnic table in the sand. Very relaxing. Anyway, that’s where I was introduced to the “Arnold Palmer.” At first I gave my colleague a questionable look for ordering an alcoholic beverage at lunch. And then I found out it’s just lemonade and ice tea. I’ve been ordering those ever since.

If he’s at all like Pinocchio, I concur with your statement.

No.

No.

He hired Schemmy? Come on, now, let’s deal with reality.

Did Warde have anything to do with Anderson? Canham presided over that mess, and somehow has escaped the scorn that was heaped on Bo.

I’m rooting for Yale. I almost wish Juwan was coming back for another season so he could snag Bez Mbang from the Ivy League. There should be serious NIL for Bez MGoBang! He could be the face of the Friday Posbang. Let’s make this happen.

What I really like about him is his ability to pass the basketball. That’s right, he’s a Bez Dispenser.

Your comment reminded me of Gerry Faust. That was perhaps the dumbest coaching hire in the history of coaching hires. Except for maybe Charlie Weis.

Is it fair to call him Nedved?
J/K

Yeah. I’m interested to see…

Yeah. I’m interested to see who emerges on the offensive side of the ball. Usually, it’s a veteran lineman or QB. We just don’t have that many returning starters. I suppose Crippen could be that guy. Edwards returning is a big deal, but he strikes me as more of a lead by example guy than a guy who has an abundance of expressive energy a la Corum.

The first two players I…

The first two players I recognized were McBurrows and Graham. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them as Captains (plus someone on the offensive side). McBurrows has the mantle from Mike and Graham is Graham.

Except that it’s not a gross…

Except that it’s not a gross exaggeration for people that remember this place circa 2020. How do I know this? I’m one of the people who thought JH should be fired after the 2-4 season and I’m usually one of the last people to advocate for firing someone. Mea culpa.

I know a guy who went to…

I know a guy who went to Illinois undergrad and UofM grad school. He explained to me why Illinois hates us. It boils down to they hate us because they ain’t us.

I think the roster…

I think the roster management issue was the biggest factor. He just couldn’t get his top targets into the school, and when that failed, he had no Plan B. YoYo was a late add, IIRC. We thought that was a good pickup at the time, but after 2 seasons of not being able to see the court, that looks more like a desperation move. Tray Jackson was a backup plan (I hope,) who couldn’t make the transition to the Big10. Aaliya was another late, desperation attempt to get to 12 (not even 13) scholarship players. I watched the Ivy League tournament this weekend. Sure, there are some good players there, but not many that can play at the B10 level. Dipping his feet into that well turned out badly when Llewellyn got hurt. But even before his injury, it was obvious he didn’t have the quickness to guard B10 athletes.

So, in summary, poor planning combined with bad luck and an inability to motivate his team to play defense (or provide a plan on defense that didn’t rely on Reed chasing PGs 30 feet from the basket) were the reasons why we’re looking for a new coach.

It’s the same in Taiwan. 7-11s double as post offices or something. I don’t remember the details, but yeah, just about every block has a 7-11.

In his final game with the maize and blue, he played 1 minute, the last minute, with the walk-ons. The writing was on the wall. Good luck, George.
He shot 0.185 on the season. That’s below the Mendoza Line.
