I don't understand the Big 10. I just don't.
|11 min 26 sec ago||that call was blown||
The ball had clearly crossed the goalline when his toe dragged across the out of bounds line. The goal line extends infinitely out in both directions. The ball should be spotted where the ball is when the foot steps out of bounds (the foot was out at the 1/2 yard line, not the 1, but whatever) and that was in the endzone.

I thought I was the resident Killologist on this board. But even I wouldn't hire Kill.
The point of bringing up Kill is to show that he had a much better resume than Brady Hoke did before (and now) Hoke was hired, EXCEPT for that bizarre Michigan Man crap. Michigan has gotten worse each year under Hoke. Minnesota has gotten better each year under Kill. The lesson we should learn from history is to IGNORE "Michigan Man" crap in our next coaching hire.

My son was 6 days old. My Dad was staying with us because my sister gave birth 2 days after my wife so she got Mom. Dad was going to fly back to Michigan on Sunday, so we had to go to Church Saturday evening, midway through the fourth quarter. We decided to tape the rest of the game, just in case. When we got back home, we turned the TV on thinking that the game would be over already. Instead, they were in the 2nd overtime. We were shocked. So we watched the rest of the game, and then watched the tape to find out how we were able to come back.

Find a good editor. In my case, I took a technical writing course at UofM. My TA worked at the NY Times as an editor prior to coming to UofM. She let us turn in an assignment over and over until she was satisfied. After that, my thesis advisor acted as an editor for my publications. First year, there was more red ink on my papers than original text. By year four, I was still getting comments, but 95% of my original material was getting through.

I upvoted your very first post on this blog, tripling your MGoPoint total with one keystroke. I think it's only fair that you upvote my next 10K posts to triple my point total. Fair's fair, right?

do they take one giant dump once a month and wipe with a $10 bill, or take a dump every three days and use singles? I'm not wiping with quarters...

As long as college graduates have a higher employment rate and the wage premium exists, the bubble will not burst.

Angelique asked about bullying after last year's game:
It's been a recurring storyline. The question might have been better directed at Nussmeier or Hoke, but they know they can get a reasonable answer out of Mattison.

There are 128 teams in FBS according to this:
Yes, we're dead last in turnover margin. Fix that and we're not horrible/mediocre/pedestrian etc. etc. etc.
|5 days 7 hours ago||Broken Gardner||
You write about a unbroken/broken Gardner as if this is something that can factually be proven. How do we know his less than stellar performance this year is a result of too many hits last year versus poor offensive scheming this year?
Nuss has a 5th year senior quarterback, a bunch of 4 star offensive linemen that are a year older, two stud running backs - at least according to the recruiting services - and enough weapons at the WR position that we should be throwing the ball downfield occasionally, like, more than once per game.

Can you imagine what would have happened if that had been Hoke instead of Kill who couldn't identify the Purdue coach? The interwebz would have asploded. But since it's just goofy Jerry, he gets a pass, and this isn't even a one day story.

|1 week 1 day ago||Earle Bruce||
You mentioned thinking if Hoke loses to both rivals he is gone. This season actually reminds me of Earle Bruce's last season in Columbus. The guy had gone seven years in a row with 3 losses, and the first poor season he had, he was out the door BEFORE the game. The Bucks came into that game at 5-4-1. At this point, I'd be happy for us to have a winning record going into the game with Ohio, but if we lose to MSU, and we're at 6-5, does a win over Ohio salvage the season and Hoke's job? That puts us at 7-5 and guarantees we're no worse record-wise than last season. The big problem with Hoke's record is the downward trajectory. If he can turn things around in the second half of the season and finish 7-6 or better, I think Brandon keeps him. That's a tall order, though.

I pass Rosecrans on my way to work. There's a good Cafe Rio right there at the corner of Rosecrans and Aviation. Really good pork barbacoa enchiladas.

|1 week 2 days ago||Stitt's offense||
It reminds me of Baylor. He spreads the field and makes you decide whether you want to cover the middle of the field and leave the wideouts in single coverage, or give help to the DBs outside and make yourself vulnerable to the run game. It's such a simple concept. It bothers me when Michigan brings the wideouts near the tight ends and puts all 11 players in the center of the field. The defense has more players near the ball and it forces all 9 blockers to execute (against 11 defenders) versus just the 5 interior linemen against 5 defenders. It's much easier to get 5 good blocks than 9.
|1 week 2 days ago||Average||
average is a synonym for mediocre. Are we average? I'd prefer to use the median instead of the mean. There are 128 FBS, putting the median at 64.5. We're better than the median if you consider all FBS teams, but I think the expectation is that of course we're going to be better than the MAC schools and other non-Power 5 teams. Being 11th in the Big Ten puts us solidly below average.

If you are like me and wondered why Walton had a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio, but his assist rate and turnover rate are approximately the same, let me help you out. Assist rate is assists/field goal made, while turnover percentage is turnovers/number of possessions.
