we're 4-0, not 3-0. Other than that I dig it.

Mean Streak

Does listing mean streak as a con mean that he doesn't have one? Because if he does, I don't see it as a bad thing at all.

hot ice

Hot ice. I heat up the ice cubes. It's the best of both worlds.

With the exception of

With the exception of strikeouts which have remained consistently high, Jackson's numbers are hurt mainly by a horrible April when he hit .178. In May he hit .269 and in June he's hit .299 so far. That, combined with his speed and the lack of another option is why he should be leading off. The day Ryan Raburn is the Tigers' every day lead off hitter is the day I stop watching.

You bat Ordonez 2nd. He's a career .300+ hitter. He's going to figure it out eventually this season. He's got good plate discipline and has lost some of his power, so he's actually closer to an ideal #2 than previously in his career. He can't be an every day outfielder though. Dirks or Kelly can fill-in occasionally against right-handed pitchers and as pinch runners/defensive replacements.

I like Boesch at #3 right now, though with his all-or-nothing swing, that could definitely change. Depending on how things go after the All-Star break, you could easily slide Avila, Peralta, or even Martinez up to #3. Either way, someone needs to get on base before the Big Fella.

Cabrera 4. Martinez 5. Peralta 6. Avila 7. I know the whole point of the OP was to move Avila up in the batting order, but I think he's comfortable towards the back end of our best hitters. Someone is most likely going to be on base, so he's going to see good pitches. If he's 2 or 3, he doesn't have that luxury. You also could switch him and Peralta depending on post-All Star performance.

Santiago 8. Good bunter to move possible (likely?) base-runners. Inge 9.

Alden Hill

I like the versatility Hill provides. We're already recruiting a fullback or two in this class (Fatu), and our best shot at a true tailback, Dunn, is still technically commited to OSU. I know he doesn't have the sexiest offer list and the recruiting sites aren't enamored with him, but Hill ran an 11.00s 100m dash this past spring as a HS Jr. Source: Here.  At 6'2'' 220 lbs, thats moving. If Hill jumps on board, we add possible depth at tailback and if that doesn't work out, he can fill the fullback need Hoke and co seem to want anyways.

Now i'll completely undermine everything I just said and question the timing of the offer, if it comes Wednesday. Why not ride the OSU shitstorm out and see what happens with Dunn? With his offer list, it seems like Hill would go Blue regardless of if the offer came tomorrow or in December. I've had similar questions with other offers--Gant vs Morgan, Olsen vs Diamond, Banner, etc. Then again, what do I know.
