Many of the tournaments are paid for by ESPN Events. They cover all the costs, get extra TV inventory and get all the ticket revenue (even if that isn't much). The site gets concessions, and some travel advertising. The teams get to play other decent competition.
He just couldn't guard Leslie, who looked like a really good player. A lot of NC State's runs were all about Robinson getting dominated one-on-one. I don't think he's a B1G-quality defensive player....yet.
Would have liked to see more McGary-Morgan-Stauskas-Hardaway-Burke when NC State went big. Especially because we could score at will as long as Stauskas was on the floor
That's a great article and Nate is the best there is, but he got lots of criticism for basing the analysis on http://www.commoncensus.org/sports_map.php?sport=5 -- basically using a non-scientific count of support for various schools.
I think it passes the smell test overall, but there are some where it doesn't (Georgia > Georgia Tech or Iowa > Nebraska).
His recruitment is the first one I ever noticed (I was in eighth grade). Mostly, I just regret that he didn't turn out better than he did -- he had all the physical tools to be one of the twenty best basketball players ever but was just missing some killer instinct. So much more talented than Barkley or Malone or Duncan.
I've been searching for a good comp for Burke for a while. Harlan or Raftery said he has a little Tony Parker in him. I think that makes a lot of sense -- great to the rim and as a finisher, smooth shot out to 20 feet. No comment on his skills with the ladies.
