Worth putting up a link for new site donations? Guessing we could crowdsource the cost, based on the number of people that said they'd chip in. I'd certainly throw a few dollars at it. Maybe a new beveled guilt button until the costs are covered?

?

I'm not saying you should feel bad for being ignorant, but your comparisons aren't even close to sensible - NYC is about 400+ times bigger than Newtown and San Bernadino is probably 10 times bigger. Newtown is about the size of Birmingham, so it likely would have impacted him. Some of us only read the comments once a day or less, since we have, ya know - jobs and lives and whatnot...

I guess because you put I guess because you put question marks on a screen shot, you must be smarter than Baxter and Harbaugh. What point are you trying to prove? Congratulations - you are the greatest Monday morning coach to have ever not coached.
Stay with me - Brandon Wiki

So I just googled Dave Brandon wondering what would come up on the front page (thinking that the search results must be awful), and his wikipedia page comes up first. I read through it and thought - this is totally edited by a Brandon intern to whitewash the negative info. I looked at the edit history and found edits by a "janabrandon"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Janabrandon

and looked at some of her edits, one of which was changing his AD info (see the AD section) from:

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Dave_Brandon&oldid=649754633

to:

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Dave_Brandon&oldid=654650359

essentially deleting all the negative content. It reverted back to the original for "conflict of interest," but has since been cleaned up again by a different username. Of course it's possible that someone just made up that user account, but it seems highly unlikely that it's just some random person cleaning up negative comments on brandon's wiki

Someone with more time and wikipedia knowledge should look into this because it's just funny and so Brandon to be editing his own wikipedia page...

You missed the point

...which is that Harbuagh recognized the talent before the services, not that he got a bump because Harbaugh offered him. But by all means, be condescending when you completely missed the point.

I had a feeling...

..that might be the case, because it seems unlikely to go from brand new to posting enough in one month to get thousands of points (even when you're getting super-negged on every post). i bet thanksgiving dinner is fun at that dude's house.

I and most others that have I and most others that have been here since the RR days make the exact same arguments we did as Rodriguez was being fired. Just because half the fan base was wrong and can't let it go, doesn't mean our arguments (made in 2010) are revisionist. RR never had the support that Hoke did, period. I don't see how that can even be argued. And talking about RR bad recruiting is like saying hoke is a bad recruiter because of this year. Michigan recruits people on it's own, if the fans and former players are behind it. None of it really matters, since it can't be changed now, but it was obvious from day one that hiring Rodriguez was a long term play that the get-off-my-lawn crew cratered. Had Brandon said Rodriguez was getting another year during his final season (as he did for hoke last year), 2011 probably would have shown similar results and we'd be competing for titles right now because he'd have been able to recruit. Instead, hoke.

Incidentally, you've been here for a month and are possibly the most annoying poster I can remember in my time on this blog. Congrats!
I think you've missed the point

Is anyone "attacking" non-revenue sports? If football isn't making money, there are no non-revenue sports, period. While gouging fans now may help the current non-revenue athletes, destroying the fan base (football) that supports the non-revenue sports jeopardizes the future of all these sports. Everyone wins if we keep the football program healthy. I doubt there are many people here who don't want the best for every student athlete at Michigan, it's just that supporting Brandon because of the current upgrades is worse for all non-revenue sports long term, without question.

It just makes you look

It just makes you look ignorant - I hope you aren't a UM grad. You should realize that there are probably hundreds of people on this board with family members on the autism spectrum.

It's not just a corn maze...

It's a whole day of fun!

Can't say I love that line

..but at the same time, we should probably remember that the coaches and everyone else inside the walls of Fort Schembechler are using the negative press/sentiment as a motivational tool. The us against them mentality is ok with me if it helps them win Saturday. Still unfortunate, but the kid is 19 - perhaps we should cut him some slack?

WWLBD?
I'm curious

and this is an honest question - do you work in the athletic department or have a personal connection to someone who does? i've been on mgblog forever and i can't recall seeing more counterintuitive/defensive posts from one person in a two week span since i've been here.

Travel

Just curious - do these guys (or their families) have to pay to travel to all these camps or do the sponsors cover some of the costs? Seems like it would get pretty expensive to be flying all over the country every other weekend.

Haha

I almost forgot about this

Sweet Caroline

Was more embarassing to me than Pop Evil, despite my intense dislike for Pop Evil. At least the Pop Evil song is unique to Michigan and terrible.

This is probably ...

Miles

It seems to me that if the local media did what they did to Rodriguez after his arrival, they would have a field day with Les Miles. Can you imagine the Freep stories assasinating his character for page views next August 25th? I would imagine MSC and DB want someone with a spotless record after what we've been through the last couple years. Miles is most definitely not that guy.

%'s

I could be way off, but I think one of the biggest advantages stability at qb brings opposing defenses is that they can memorize general %'s based on formation. So if Tate and Denard run the same plays, the defense would be prepared for the general plays, but not have the advantage of knowing "hey they're in X formation with X personnel, which means that 65% of the time they're running play X."

sorry i can't stop thinking about this. i just feel like if you make this app the best michigan football app out there (there doesn't seem to be anything remotely good right now), you would probably pick up a lot of new mgousers.

- live scoring updates (would be awesome, probably really difficult - does somebody have a feed you could use for this for just mich?)
- would be awesome to be able to turn something on that somehow pushed updates as any team scored in a mich game (so if you couldn't watch the game, you would at least be up to date)
- something like this
http://itunes.apple.com/app/local-radio-finder/id290479909?mt=8
that let you actually listen to the local radio station that had the game on if you're out of market - possibly linked through schedule section?
- create a free and paid (.99) version that do the exact same thing, the paid version would basically just be a donation. that way a lot of people would hopefully choose to give a dollar to help with upkeep, etc.

i'd love to pretend like i'll stop posting on this, but i'll probably have more. and sorry to bombard you, just figured you guys can take/leave whatever you want. you've probably thought about a lot of these already, but couldn't hurt to throw them out there if they're easily done.

more

sorry, just thinking of other stuff that could be useful for a mich fan. like, might as well make it an all-in-one app. also, i dont even have the app so these are just conceptual things that people might like

- rss feed with articles from detnews, annarbornews, etc?

- updated schedule with kickoff times and tv/radio info (something that gets updated as they announce game times)

- a twitter feed could be cool too, like an aggregate of people (angelique, brian, etc)

don' t know if people would even care about this stuff, just trying to make the app more useful than just going to mgoblog on their browser. personally, the push notification thing alone would make the app worth having (and people could always turn that off if they didn't want them)

push?

late to the party as usual, but thinking it could be cool to get push notifications for "breaking" news. things like wolfolk injury, ncaa investigation results, etc. not sure how easy or hard that would be, but i assume brian could just determine if he thinks something is pushworthy and send. i wouldn't want to get one every update, but that way i'd feel like i was in the loop if something big happened.

uhh i think there's a bit of a difference between 8 years and less than 2, but you're the smart one so you tell me. i'd stay and argue more, but i think you've done a fine job of proving to everyone here that you're an idiot. back to the bridge with you!
haha - bar exam you are funny. do me a favor and list all the reasons you're smart in one post so i don't have to gag on it for the rest of time. bar exam! sidelines! talked to coaches! players! please come back and talk to us in a few years when the fair weather is back.
Go back to your bridge "I don't like the spread" doesn't sound like "open to the RR hire" to me. if you were here for more than a day, you'd be aware of the personnel issues (do they not have internet on the sidelines?). perhaps you missed the 'cupboards bare' line because your lloyd-vision automatically sensors it, but it's pretty obvious that lloyd left because he saw this coming as well. the defensive, 'smart guy' response screams insecure sparty troll, but i'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. at least now i know where to find salt for my tuna...
the point is when we hired a coach that ran a completely different offense, requiring completely different personnel, you either knew this was coming, or you had your head in the clouds. you OBVIOUSLY fall in the anti-RR from day one camp, what with the admitting you don't like the spread. so, please see my earlier post (specifically, the 'pointing out how right you are'). Re: drop in morale on the field and lack of discipline - thanks for that brilliant insight. we have a bunch of young, frustrated players who are learning a system and aren't winning football games. of course they are going to be down. of course they aren't going to be disciplined. they're 18-19-20. amajority of the players under carr were 4th and 5th year guys who had years to learn their responsibilities in practice. since the cupboards are bare (and they are - despite your lloyd colored glasses), the current team doesn't have that luxury. ps - congrats on the sideline passes and conversations with coaches. we're all proud of you.
Sparty i've tried to read all the comments and have now wasted half my work day. is anyone else noticing that most of the negative thought on RR starts with your michigan state friends? it's as if the football watching state fans spew all this BS about how RR was a terrible hire, is a scUMbag and is John L Smith to passive michigan fans who don't know anything about the program other than the fact that we're losing. a lot more than usual. and it must be the coach, because that's what's different. in reality, anyone who knows say, 7 players names from memory, realizes this was very likely (if not inevitable), and did from day one? there's nothing worse than a vocal idiot. remove those people and the anti-RR camp (who love to point out how 'right' they were/are), and i'd be willing to bet that just about everyone left is limping through this year believing firmly that we have a lot of great football in our not-so-distant future. can we also at least talk about how when the offense isn't shooting itself in the foot or making young mistakes, it's actually FUN to watch? i loved lloyd, but i'm genuinely excited about the prospect of watching some of these guys light up the scoreboard in a couple years.
