missing /s? Get off of your horse. I'd term the OP pretty informative and useful, typos and all.

Why the hate on New Haven? We've got at least as many restaurants and general things to do as Hartford does and frankly it's a nicer place.

Note about 84 is part of it is closed this weekend near the NYS/CT line (this according to highway signs last weekend). And the traffic between Danbury and Waterbury is sometimes as bad as 95 since it's two lanes in a lot of spots.

As a New Haven resident, I will strongly second the "stay the hell away from 95 in CT" point.If you must drive up from the NYC area, the Merritt/Wilbur Cross Pkwy is a much better way to do things.

Couldn't stop them on D? ND had 23 offensive points...we didn't stop them cold but saying we could not stop them seems a bit much.

Went a few years back...second the oversized HS stadium feelings, and we just showed up and bought tickets in the parking lot at face value off of some folks who were tailgating

Thanks. It's a little depressing that nearly the entirety of the trafficked college sports blog world is an SBNation production.

Yes, perhaps Dayne Crist will go to Wisconsin. Paul Chryst probably won't be there with him.

This is pretty tangent to the point at hand, and I'm not much of a Tebow apologist, but the 3/16 is pretty misleading...there were at least 6 flat drops in there. He might not have been the reason they ultimately won (Marion Barber would like a word), but he wasn't nearly as incompetent as the numbers suggest.

Read the article or see my reply above. He made some bad life choices, ended up in jail for a while, but now has it together to the point where he's probably a viable, low level NFL prospect.
|2 years 3 weeks ago||Unfortunate||
I went to HS with him and he didn't have it together in any way, ending up in prison for five years after an armed robbery. He got out and got it together and by all accounts has been in no trouble in the last 4 years so it's doubly shitty for him to lose the end of his senior season to some jackass who wanted to be macho.
While I wished him no luck or a pat on the back during the M game, he's the epitome of someone who turned their life around and for that should absolutely be commended.
Hopefully it wasn't serious enough to keep him out of their likely bowl game.

With all due respect, as a 25 year resident of DC, nobody here gives a hoot about UVA, and maybe like 39 people give a hoot about Maryland football, the juggernaut that they are. On Saturdays you see more Big 10 fans of all schools than anyone else by a country mile.

Attempting to contrast ourselves with Indiana might not be the best debating position here. They have been a model of consistency for some time...I'm not sure it much matters where their players are coming from if you are always good.

My two cents on JMFK:
I was back in Ann Arbor tailgating on Division just north of Hill St before one of the September games in 2009. This particular spot happens to have a lot of the team walking down the block between Central campus and the stadium in the hours before the game.
We're out by the street and I spotted an obvious player walking by judging by his warmup and bag, but I didn't recognize him. After shouting out to him what position he played and getting the response "Quarterback", I said back to him you must be Jack Kennedy. I don't think I've ever seen any athlete at any level as happy to be recognized as he was that day. (Though still not happy enough to accept our offer of beer...)
The end. Go Blue.

Let's say, for the sake of argument, that everything you've said here is in fact correct. What do you propose the solution be? Shall we start making every job everywhere exactly proportional to the racial mix of some population (because let's be honest, diversity only means race in most corners of this country)?
The University of Michigan Law School took a stroll down this road not too long ago, and you might recall what the Supreme Court thought about the idea.

Coaching a top ten NFL defense is a great way to bridge the gap between old white guy and prospective college football player.

If we are regularly in BCS bowls again, that would be the time to worry about winning them, not now when we are as likely to not be in any bowl as we are a BCS bowl.
This is an instructive comment:
Brian might want to learn some balance from the pions down here. People need to realize that celebrating Hoke and what he might be able to accomplish around here is not akin to trashing RR, not akin to supporting the process that got us here, and not akin to being alright with the mafia that torpedoed RR. Supporting Hoke is 100% exclusive of each of the others, yet certain folks seems to think there is some inalienable and intrinsic connection.
|2 years 46 weeks ago||Easy there rock star. You||
Easy there rock star. You think people are going to play Tresselball because the weather is great, the girls are great, and the state is great? I would argue that none of those make an elite program beyond making it a little easier to recruit. I'd posit that our standing as the all time winningest and close to if not the most storied program around, and with the exception of the RR years, still damn succssful lately (NC, nearly MNC berth, Heisman, several marquee bowl wins and 10 win seasons) does in fact make us elite.

Carlos Rogers was/is a cornerback and probably not part of the offensive equation.
Jason Campbell on the other hand was the QB who was drafted first round by the Redskins. (coincidentally the same team that Rogers ended up on)
