"The University of Illinois is also in turmoil. The university sports an Interim Chancellor, an Interim Athletic Director, and an Interim Football Coach; the game will be played at Soldier Field, making this an Illini Interim Home Game."

Balas knows what he's talking about.
|1 year 12 weeks ago||If he is...||
...it's really stupid of you to post this with this title and call more attention to it when Hoke and co. are clearly trying to keep it under wraps. There's a reason Hoke said earlier this week he wasn't discussing injuries. They don't review these videos that are posted on mgoblue and probably have no idea that's in there.
|1 year 12 weeks ago||Sure it will blow over, everything does||
That said, if you mean in the sense that things will end up well for Michigan in his recruitment, pretty sure this kid isn't coming here. He's a flaky recruit (obviously) and isn't solid with us (obviously). Would love to have him but these things rarely end up well for the good guys.

|1 year 14 weeks ago||Terrible video||
Why do all of these hype videos have terrible, dramatic, slow, boring music? The purpose of a hype video is to get hyped up. No one is going to get hyped up listening to that crap. Take a page out of the ESPN book and put together highlights to something trendy and upbeat.
|1 year 16 weeks ago||I'll also clarify a bit||
I grew up in Michigan. Many of my friends are Michigan fans. Many of them didn't go to the school. I go to games and tailgate with them. I watch away games at the bar with them and have parties for bowl games. I don't think they are creepy or weird. That said, I don't know any of them I could text "hey, what did you think of the Brian Cole committment" and not get a "who?" back in response. That's the difference in what I'm referring to.
|1 year 16 weeks ago||There's a difference between following a team||
...and being obsessed. Constantly reading about, posting about, getting emotional about a team constitutes obsession. Why have that much invested into an amateur sports team without some sort of connection? Michigan is my alma mater and current school. That's a connection. Having parents or siblings that went or go to the school is kind of a connection. The further I can go on the weaker the connection gets. The fact is, when you have little connection to something but are obsessed with it... yeah it's "kind of" creepy. It's an opinion. You don't have to share it. But all I'll say is there should be much more important things in your life than commenting on a football team you don't have much connection to other than being a fan. It might have something to do with why you weren't a good enough student to get into the school in the first place. Just food for thought.

My first weekend back from my DC internship this summer too. Damn it's going to feel good to be home. Can't wait. Go Blue.
|1 year 16 weeks ago||I have to be honest||
I've never understood the whole obsession with Michigan football for non-students/alumni. This isn't a Wal-Mart Wolverine thing, I don't have that attitude. But I will say it's a kind of strange and creepy. I haven't missed a home Michigan game since I was 5, but had I not been/am a student, I probably wouldn't be on this blog.
|1 year 16 weeks ago||lol||
Wow, man. You blatantly question the competence of the coaching staff then show you have absolutely no spine by adding that little sentence in at the end. You clearly don't have all the confidence in the world in our staff. If you did, you wouldn't have written everything else in your post. Which is good, you shouldn't. They haven't earned it yet. I'm not taking any position on this, I'm just in wait-and-see mode.
|1 year 16 weeks ago||You from Grosse Ile?||
|1 year 16 weeks ago||Hahaha||
I forgot about that. You're right.
|1 year 16 weeks ago||Hmmm||
I'm not sure you understand what "by definition" means. What you just said is tantamount to "All I've eaten today is salad and vegetables, I am LITERALLY starving"
|1 year 16 weeks ago||Jabrill Peppers is shorter than Chuck||
It's official. Yes I can see both are leaning. Anyone with eyes can still see he's shorter. That is all.

Racial issues are not political, they're social.
|1 year 17 weeks ago||I expect him to stay there||
Deveon Smith has always been the better back. How anyone doesn't see that and thinks that Green, who consistently is tackled after first contact, is the better back baffles me. Smith consistently breaks tackles and makes holes when there are none. Doesn't mean Green can't improve, but as of right now, Smith is the better choice.

|1 year 18 weeks ago||Why should they get the full cost of attendance?||
What makes the athletic accomplishment of a player like Jack Miller or Dennis Norflleet so much more worthy of being given everything than the scholar from the south side of Chicago that had to fight through far more adversity to get a full tuition academic scholarship to Michigan but still can't afford to house or feed him or herself? And that person has a far greater chance of attributing real value to society than 99% of the other college athletes out there, even those playing for major football and basketball programs. I've never understood the inane argument from athletes that say they went to bed hungry. It's a ridiculous lie b/c just like the rest of us that go or went to college with no money, there is federal aid in loans or grants that will take care of all of the necessities. And just like the rest of us they might have to pay it back when they graduate. For those that make millions of dollars for the athletic program, they have a far better chance of paying back those loans immediately since, if they truly are generating that revenue themselves, they're very likely going to be making hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars professionally afterward. Spare me their sob story. Full tuition is enough. Otherwise extend the full cost of attendance scholarship to academic scholarships as well. Athletes don't deserve any more than they do. In fact, they deserve less. They're not out there creating new technologies to make our lives easier, new medical breakthroughs, engineering marvels or positive social policy. They are providing entertainment. And only a scant few of them have names recognizable to the rest of the country.... Sorry, ending my rant now.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||And with that "system"||
you end up with a few elite programs becoming football or basketball businesses instead of universities, not requiring players to attend classes, making hundreds of millions of dollars more than any other school and monopolizing ALL the talent. There would no longer be any semblance of competition. Just like in the real world, free market economy (which is regulated far more than what you're suggesting for college athletics), there would be only the Warren Buffetts and Charles and David Kochs of the world at the top, holding 75% of the wealth in "college" athletics, leaving the other 25% to be split among the rest of the schools. Not sure how you could deny this when this is the reality of capitalism today. And that's with checks like antitrust laws in place which you don't think college sports should have. Thanks but no thanks. Today's NCAA landscape is far superior to that.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||I was ready to respond positively to this post||
B/c the thought behind it is correct. I agree that we could change his mind with a good season that I think is well within reach. That said, you lost me when you wrote "Hoke is recruiting good." My estimation of your intelligence dropped dramatically. Hoke is recruiting well, not good.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Face palm*||
He knew for a while he wouldn't be able to make it. Why was he saying he was coming? This football camp he has to attend didn't come out of nowhere.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Riiiiiight||
Sure, yeah. Let's impress one of the other 50 recruits that will never be a starter for a top 25 program. That makes me feel much better. There a only a small handful of uncommitted recruits coming now that can help this team in any way.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Smartest post in this thread||
Thanks for bringing us reason.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Poor logic||
We've known for a while he's going to be a Buckeye. Not sure what you're trying to do with that comment.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Dude...||
Got enough Michigan in your room? Are you 12 years old?
|1 year 18 weeks ago||You seriously believe that?||
That's not a good reason at all. If that's true he knew a long time ago that he wouldn't be able to make it. His coach didn't schedule this practice yesterday.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||These are terrible||
Seriously. Not that you put much time into them, I'm guessing, as you said you were just playing around. Keep em simple and classy.
|1 year 19 weeks ago||No I'm not||
And obviously they've gained muscle but it is by no means visible.
